HTML - Centering Text In A Table
Hello chaps,
I have a .php page and for some unknown reason the text will not centre itself in each of the cells. It's centred in the horizontal aspect, but vertically it always starts at the top. I thought that one only had to use the align="centre" tag when declaring the table. Interestingly if I convert the .php to .htm then the text does centre itself. What am I missing! Cheers etala Similar TutorialsHi. I can't remember how to center a table to the center of the page. Here is my current code: HTML Code: <table style="width: 66%" > <tr> <td class="style4"> <a href="http://au.youtube.com/user/bombardieraddict123" style="color:white" class="style5"> Bombardieraddict123</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td style="background-color:white">More Information Will go here</td> </tr> </table> I want it to be centered in the middlof thepage. How can I do that? thanks Hi everyone, I couldn't really find a thread with this question... If there's already one with a solution to the problem, a link to the thread would be prefered over an answer here. Basically, my problem is that a layout I made doesn't center properly in IE. I have an y-repeated background in the center of the page, and on top a table. In Firefox everything looks fine and dandy, but in IE the table is a few pixels off to the left causing an error in the alignment. http://lastsong.sadil.net/ I don't really know how to fix it - I like it coded with tables better than with divs, so recoding it into divs won't do. (I am aware it doesn't validate on 6 points for those who care, but I can live with that for now...) If anybody has a solution to this problem, I'd love to hear it. Thanks! Hi, I'm having the same problem too. I want the red box to fill the whole page (ie 100% width & height) and the blue box to to be centered (horizontally & vertically) http://www.randam.org/TEST-NEW.html Here's my coding: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>TEST NEW</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; } --> </style></head> <body> <table width="100%" height="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td height="867" align="center" valign="middle" bgcolor="#FF0000"><table width="1020" height="602" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0000FF"> </td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Please help me out. I've been banging my head against the wall all morning. thanks, Rich I created a table and on one side is an image and the other side words. I would like to center the image vertically and horizontally within the <td> tag. Right now the image is on the top of the area it's in This code I'm using now is.... <img src="http://www.elevatingyourbusiness.com/images/6 Step Process201x178.jpg" width="201" height="178" alt="6 Step Process Photo" /> For a better picture of how "lopsided" the picture/words look you can go to www.ElevatingYourBusiness.com It's the graphic under the title starting "World-Class Management " I'm open to any other suggestions you might have that will make this particular area look eye pleasing. Thanks in advance. How do you center the title in a table. Code: <table> <th>Monsters</th> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> </tr> </table> Im trying to center and justifty text on my website and really stuggling with it. Any help is appreicated!! Thanks Dave I have a mobile application and the text is top aligned in the Blue division rather than centered: <div class="header"> <span style="">TREO 600 LITIGATION</span> </div> Not sure what to put in the Span tag. .header { height: 2.0em; background-color: blue; text-align: center; color: white; font-weight: bold; } And I am viewing this as a Mobile application on an iPhone. Todd Hi guys, I'm rather a n00b at html, and I'm sort of learning as I go while I help fix up a site that wasn't updated since 2006. I'm setting up a "Contact Us" page, and are rearranging the staff photos so that the CEO is in his own seperate table, up the top, and in the centre of the row. Then, below him, I'm hoping to put his secretary, the treasurer and the marketing person. The managers need to go under them, and work downwards. At the moment, here's what I've got: Code: <table border="1" width="100%"> <tr> <td width="33%"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="100%"> <dive align="center"><img src="xxxxx.gif" width="165" height="147"></div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="33%"> <div align="center"><a href="mailto:xx@xxx.xxx">Xxxx Xxxxx - Chief Executive Officer</a></div> </tr> </table> . The table below this is rather severely outdated, and I haven't done much work on it, so there's not much point posting it here. The problem is that the picture of the CEO is left-justified in the cell, rather than being right in the (horizontal) centre of the page. Any ideas? Thanks a lot guys. Cheers, Franklint I don't know if this should really go in the css forum or here, but here it is. The page in question is at the following link: http://www.sikaband.com/archives/new/index.html and the css file being referenced is: http://www.sikaband.com/archives/new/blackstyle.css Viewing the page in Firefox, the links in the navigation bar are centered the way they ought to be. Safari for some reason shunts the text off to the right a good ways. When I put a visible border on the div in question, I can see that the div itself is aligned properly, it's just the text inside that's off. I'm confused. I am trying to create a page header that has an image on the left and text that should be centered, however the centering takes into consideration the image. I would like the centering to use the full width. Can this be done? http://www.toddcary.com/pvrc/test1/header.html So I have a table: HTML Code: <table width="800" height="600" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> ... </table> I want to have the table be both horizontally and vertically centered in the browser window... How can I do this. I've looked at all sorts of html and css methods, but nothing has worked yet! Thanks I have a web page that I had to convert from a .psd file to an html and I'm not able to center a submit button and the text field next to it. I've tried various alignments but I'm also limited by what I can do because when you convert from .psd to html the entire page is one form. I don't have an external link but I'm able to provide html if necessary. Can someone please take a look at my code and offer some suggestions? Thank you Doug Hi. I can't figure out how to have all the tables on my site aligned to the centre yet have the text in them aligned to the left. In other words I want 2 margins either side of the central body of my site. How can I do this? Thanks. hi guys, i'm making a simple webpage (using Netscape Composer) and have a problem now - i made some tables there and in netscape navigator and firefox there is no problem, but in explorer the tables are not centered...have no idea what to do, here is part of the code: <html> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="content-type"> <title>index.htm</title> </head> <body style="background-image: url(http://sweb.cz/barucibiho/barpic1.jpg); color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" alink="#330033" link="#330033" vlink="#330033"> <table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0); width: 95%; text-align: left;" border="2" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <tbody> <tr> <align> </align><td style="width: 12%; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle;"><img alt="bar" src="http://sweb.cz/barucibiho/barpic1.jpg" style="width: 150px; height: 100px;"></td> <td style="width: 12%; vertical-align: middle; text-align: center;"><img alt="bar" src="http://sweb.cz/barucibiho/barpic2.jpg" style="width: 150px; height: 100px;"><br> </td> <td style="width: 32%; text-align: center; vertical-align: top;"><big><big><big><big>BAR<br> U ČIBIHO</big></big></big></big><br> </td> <td style="width: 12%; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle;"><img alt="bar" src="http://sweb.cz/barucibiho/barpic1.jpg" style="width: 150px; height: 100px;"></td> <td style="width: 12%; vertical-align: middle; text-align: center;"><img alt="bar" src="http://sweb.cz/barucibiho/barpic2.jpg" style="width: 150px; height: 100px;"></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <br> thanks a lot for help! Hi, I just thought I'd jump right in with my query. I'm looking to make Text in a table cell vertical, I've come up with solution of inserting <br />'s after each letter <table> <tr><th class="green">O<br />n<br />e</th> <th>Two</th> <th>Three</th></tr> </table> but I just wanted to know, is there a way of achieving this without doing this, can I control the size of the cell with css? thanks htmlhex Hi On my site, I have a menu on the left hand side. When the mouse is over each option, the inner part of the table turns blue. Once you click on the text inside the mini table-button, it takes you to where you want to go. I would like it so that when you click on any part of the table-button it takes you to where you want to go, instead of having to pin-point the cursor to the text. If you try on my site, I'm sure you will see what I mean. It isn't a major problem, it is just somthing I feel would enhance the user-bility. www.vivalefrench.com Hope you can help, thanks I wanted to create 2 tables side by side with each other to form 2 columns. What I did was nested 2 tables into 1 table. However when I did this the text of one table is aligned halfway down the column. I tried aligning it to the top but it just stays there. Any idea what the issue is here. I have attached a picture and the source code to show what's going on here. Any help is much appreciated.
