Hello I am new to HTMLforum and joined because I am having trouble viewing a page correctly in IE...just like most cases, it views perfectly fine in Firefox, Safari, etc. The problem I am having is in the backround image section. You see, I have a background pattern/img on the whole page itself (ex. the wood pattern). But in the TABLE section where all my content will be, i ALSO have another background img/pattern (ex. wrinkled paper) The problem I am having is, in Firefox(etc) the page views perfectly fine. But in IE (7) the page only views the wood pattern and not the wrinkled paper pattern inside my table. here is a temporary link to the site http://www.realtourproductions.com/newtrail/index.html I would greatly appreciate any help. First I like to thank you for reading this. Iam a complete rookie here. First post. I sure hope that I posted this in the correct forum. I have no clue on HTML codes. I have copied and pasted these codes in. I did do one item myself and that was inserted a table format. My problems is I have one little (">") showing up and I have no idea how to fixed it. The HTML you are already given (has 2 unordered lists and both of them are in seperate divs) and I have to style them up with CSS with what the assignment wants. So far what I have is this: ul#menu { float: left; width: 6em; list-style-type: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; background-color: #aac; border-right: thick solid #44a; border-left: thick solid #ccf; } div#main { margin-left: 7em; } Now the thing is, it's looking alright so far, but there are some problems and things I don't know how to fix. Firstly with the border right and border left things and background color on my unordered list, the left and right borders aren't big enough and the middle part is too big. I want to change this but keep my list items (the middle and 2 borders) the same overall length as I have them now, just to switch proportions. Also, in the example of the finished product, the list items have a small white space between eachother as to seperate them.. kind of like they are in their own seperate rectangular boxes with borders each on top of eachother, how can I do this? Thanks for your time! Hope you can help! I'd like someone to make an outline for my page. I've made a rough sketch: The left menu and the title place are meant to be "connected" and they should both be 44FFFFF. The body place is just meant to be white. Hi guys, just a quick question about positioning objects in HTML. Sorry if the is a noobish question, im new to html and dreamweaver. Basically, for a school assignments we nhave to create a webpage. There is one aspect though that i cant figure out. What is the best way to position pictures, divs etc in HTML? If I use absolute positioning with pixels, it changes where it is on different screen sizes (obviously). The best way i have found so far is by using percentages (eg top 40%) but this is slow and hard. Any better way? Too long didnt read- how to position things so it looks the same on any resolution Thanks in advance Hey, thanks ahead of time for any amazing answers, Anyway, i am hosting my website on Tumblr, which is a blogging thing @ quickcache.org And you can customize your theme in HTML. I want to add a 150 by 150 or less picture to the left of the blog title. You can view to code here and view the sample website here If you could give me a updated copy with fill in the blank code that would be epic! I assume it should be easy for anyone with any knowledge of HTML. And yes i know i need a image host. Also if you add to the code, could you give me a recommended picture size to fit it to the left of the title? Thanks so much! I just need to write an html page (or asp) or whatever, that takes a varialble from a form and opens/makes an http call to another page using the variable the user input. For example, the user enters there name (Bob)on a page and hit submit. I need Bob at the end of the call. I then need the following opened/called or whatever. http://www.somesite.com/script/Bob I am very new to programming and just need this for a quick work project. Hello All member, How to create easy HTML sitemap ??? Please share your suggestion here ........ Hey, I would really appreciate it if someone can help me with this. I have an ebay store and I want to use HTML to link my items to my store. "Click Here to View my Store" Can someone help me out with this. I dont want to put the link to my store cause that might be against the rules or something so in the store part of the HTML just put something like (storelinkhere) Thanks everyone I know its a really dumb question but im just not getting this HTML stuff. Ok here it is..........There is a site that uses a code that I want to use as well. The name of the site is http://www.gamefaqs.com The code does this: Everytime someone logs in it keeps track of each time that they log in. They get a point for each day......not each time they log in. In other words they can't log in and out 10 times and get 10 points. It only works in the sense that they get a point per day. I can only speculate that the code involves a timer feature. After midnight, pacific time, they get another point for that day provided they log in. They don't get another point until midnight again. The code that makes this work is a little beyond my knowledge. If anyone out there knows how to write a code that works similiar to this please let me know. Thanks Ok, so here is my problem. I am pretty new at HTML coding and what not. I just launched a new website, http://reflectiontechnologies.com/ . Basically, I am trying to launch an online backup service for peoples to back up their files. That is up and running and is currently in the beta stage so occasionally, the backup server goes offline. What I want to do is on my server page (http://www.reflectiontechnologies.com/html/horizon.html) is to have a code of some sort that will check the server url (horizon.reflectiontechnologies.com) to see if it responds and if it doesn't, to redirect to a page that says the server is temporarily offline. PS... If you want to beta test the backup server, let me know Also... I had made a page that I updated manually before to redirect to the server or to redirect to a page alerting users that it was down. The problem I had though was that the browser would cache that page thus making it ineffective. Hello there! I am having some problems with my site at the moment. Since I did not build a big part myself (and have little knowledge of coding), I cannot change something I would like. Check it out he my site As you see, there are two arrows beneath the big scroll. I would like to have one to the left, and one to the right of the big scroll. So, I think I should align the three, but don't know how! This is (I think) the code at the moment. If asked I can give additional info. What's my next step? HTML Code: <div id="bigscroll"> <!-- <div class="nav1l"><a href="javascript: ;" onclick="hide_more_nav();" id="scroll_nb"><span>Back</span></a></div> --> <!-- <div class="nav1r"><a href="javascript: ;" onclick="hide_more_nav();" id="scroll_nn"><span>Next</span></a></div> --> <div class="scroll"> <ul> <?php $query = "SELECT _img_big, _text_short, _text_big FROM pics ORDER BY _time DESC"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<li> <span class="short">'.vars_decode($row['_text_short']).'<br /><a href="javascript: show_more();">Show more</a></span> <span class="big">'.vars_decode($row['_text_big']).'<br /><a href="javascript: hide_more();">Hide more</a></span> <img src="'.$row['_img_big'].'" alt="" /> </li>'; } ?> </ul> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> I'll be really impressed if someone is able to figure out this issue. I've wracked my brain and asked around, but no luck so far. However, this looks like a good place to come to for help. The problem is with the splash page at the link below. It works great in IE6 and the new Firefox. However, it doesn't work in Chrome and in IE9, if the zoom is greater than 100%, the size of the page (and the linked buttons) expands beyond the viewable area. The background is constructed from a simple table, with the image broken up into the cells. Any help you can offer is appreciated. http://www.jaguaraudiodesign.com/splash/index4.htm <html> <head> <title>JAGUAR AUDIO DESIGN</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="PageStyle.css"/> <link rel="icon" href="Icon5.ico" type="image/x-icon"> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="Icon5.ico" type="image/x-icon"> <style> body {background-image:url();} </style> <style> {overflow:hidden; height:100%; width:100%;} </style> </head> <body bgcolor="Black" scroll="no"> <div id="content" align="center" scroll="no"> <table id="table1" scroll="no" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" valign="bottom" width="100%" height="100%"> <tr valign="top" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center" height="90%"> <td colspan="5"><img alt="JaguarSplashPageBlkBg (245K)" src="JaguarSplashPageBlkBg.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" /></td> </tr> <tr valign="top" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center"> <td><img alt="JaguarSplashPageBlkBg2 (7K)" src="JaguarSplashPageBlkBg2.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" /></td> <td><a href="store.htm"><img alt="SplashStoreBtn (5K)" src="SplashStoreBtn.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" border="0" /></td> <td><a href="consulting.htm"><img alt="SplashConsultingBtn (5K)" src="SplashConsultingBtn.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" border="0" /></td> <td><a href="blog.htm"><img alt="SplashBlogBtn (3K)" src="SplashBlogBtn.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" border="0" /></td> <td><a href="tv.htm"><img alt="SplashTVBtn (2K)" src="SplashTVBtn.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" border="0" /></td> </tr> </table> </div> </body> </html> I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website? I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address.. e.g. A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar. Hope I explained ok, any responce would be much appricated! Thanks! Alright you know how you could make 1 css different for IE then FF. well thats what i want to know is it possible to have a different HTML for IE and FF? Ive been searching all day.. hi: this sort of fits in the php forum, but seems to fit better here. I am using php includes on a customers website. For some reason, the pictures are not aligning as they should. If i open the php file by itself, everything is aligned. When it loads in the index.php file as an include, it all goes astray... I've tried div align=left, aligns everthing to the left if i open the page by itself, but included in index.php it's all unorganized. check it out here and let me know what to do, i am in a real pickle here!!! http://www.tegbs.com Hello all! I'm getting this really weird HTML issue when opening my webpage on IE 9. You can visualize it he www.brancodemiranda.adv.br On Chrome it has no problems, but on IE I get two weird things: - I get another "main box" right below the correct one - The idiom bar div is messed up aswell Both showed up after I inserted the DOCTYPE tag (which I did to solve the IE-ignoring-hover problem), I've corrected a few compatibility errors already, but I'm kinda stuck on these. And since I don't have much time to go deep on solving it, I guess that someone here could give me some pointers on how to solve this. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Hey, just getting back into web dev (after a long time and little time spent) My page has a container DIV, inside is a header DIV "idHeader", a main DIV "idBody", and a footer DIV "idFooter". I want the the height of both the header and the footer to be static, but the main DIV to stretch dynamically based on content (I have the footer DIV set to relative positioning, so it should move.. right?) I don't know what I've left out though, because my text overflows from the main under the footer and down the page. I imagine I've just missed something key. Here's the code, the colors are funny for observation. Code: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> *{ font:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; margin:0px; } body{ background-color:#000000; } #idContainer{ background-color:#FFFFFF; position:absolute; left:50px; width:800px; height:100%; } #idHeader{ position:relative; width:800px; height:100px; background-color:#FF0000; } #idBody{ position:relative; overflow:visible; width:800px; height:100%; background-color:#0000FF; } #idFooter{ position:relative; width:800px; height:200px; background-color:#00FF00; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="idContainer"> <div id="idHeader"> </div> <div id="idBody"> <p>This is a paragraph.
