HTML - Background / Content Integration Help
Similar TutorialsHi All, I have just started my first page and there is a little problem with it that is driving me nuts. Basically, Im trying to make a simple page where the content is centered and there are two background columns on the right and left: we see these pages everywhere. Here is the code (pseudo) I am trying <body> <centered content> <body_divis> <pic> insert picture (top left) <pic> </body_div> </centered content> <body> now im using a css file in which we have: <centetred content> : fix width (1000px), auto left and right margin, gray background. <body_div>: white background. <pic>: 0 margins. So far so good, I get the desired effect: white page in the middle, two side columns in gray. All of this starts at the very top of the page. Now I just want to move the picture slighlty down. As soon as I do that the whole white centered section moves down with it, creating a horizental gray bar on top of the page that is driving me nuts.... it seems that the white section starts where the first object is placed. I just want it to start at the top and then plance my objects wherever. All margins are good in my code as I have checked and rechecked. I appreciate any help. Thanks, Kakeez Can someone help me integrate a form into a site that I have cut/pasted? I have both codes up at www.howmymmaworks.com/help I want the functionality of the bottom form integrated into the format of the top form. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm wondering if anyone know any good RSS Widgets that I can integrate into my website. All the ones I've come across usually just display 3 or 4 and then loop back to the beginning. Anything out there that's really good? I need some assitance in getting a forum board to integrate into my website. I currently have it in an iframe but am running into problems with the boarders of my website not extending. I am hoping someone can take a look at my forum page and give me a pointer or two. It is located at www.8clan.com/forums.html. If you compare the forums page to the index page you will see the outside borders that I am having trouble extending. Thanks in advance for any help you guys might be able to provide. Sanjiv I'm trying to figure out how to get "headlines" from a wordpress blog, and twitter to pull into a site, and display only the most recent post/tweet I like how its done on this site www.rga.com especially since its styled and not some generic widget you can find anywhere. Hi, Im trying to make my footer content align correctly to the main content when a window resizes. Thansk alot Joe Hey guys, I used to know a lot about html, but then just completely stopped doing anything with websites for too long. I was just wondering how I can replace a word or number with a specified word or number. What I want to achieve: I've got a forum with a couple thousand members and it's picking up in activity and I want to make some names stand out for being helpful. I want to replace their names with an image. But to do so, it'd have to be a code made and added into the footer template. Because obviously I can't edit a username for html image code. So I just need the code to find all instances of a certain username and replace it with what I specified. ------------- Man I really wish I remembered how to do this haha. Thanks guys. Is it possible to put a smaller background image on top (like in layers) of my old background image? I have a background image, but I want to put a smaller image on top of that one, but for it to be treated also as background image. This image is a black vertical rectangle, but is faded on the edges to give a transparency, so its a .png. So ultimately what I am trying to do is put this black rectanlge on top of my original background image and with the transparency on the edges of this image, be able to see my original background image. How can I do so? Also what I was thinking was that this faded background would be scaled to fit different screen sizes, so do "width: 75%"? Just so that it ALWAYS stays at 75% no matter what screen size it is viewed on. Is this the right approach towards getting this result? First I would like to know if there is a better way of doing this. <div></div> is the only way I know of doing it although others have told me they didn't even know it could be done with <div></div>. Second I would like to know if there's some way to control the speed at which the box scrolls. Third If the content is text then I want the scroll function to be vertical. There's other times I need the scroll to be horizontal. Here is the code: HTML Code: <div style="background-color: black; border-bottom-color: rgb(212, 47, 212); border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-width: 2px; border-left-color: rgb(212, 47, 212); border-left-style: solid; border-left-width: 2px; border-right-color: rgb(212, 47, 212); border-right-style: solid; border-right-width: 2px; border-top-color: rgb(212, 47, 212); border-top-style: solid; border-top-width: 2px; font-size: 11px; height: 200px; overflow-x: auto; overflow-y: auto; width: 200px;"> <span style="color:#ffffff;">CONTENT HERE</span></div> This is what the code looks like when viewed in Chrome and Firefox. However when used in IE the content can often move through the boarders. Hey i have a drop down menu...when i select a particular name from it...it should hide all the other content on the page other than the header <h3> being selected and the content of h3...which can either be encloded in <br> or <table> tag Hey guys, need a little help with a site im playing with right now. I have a basic site (header, footer, nav, content, and promo area) i use ul, li, a for the nav. Just another quick question i created my own java carousel and it works great but i want to add links in my nav to a specific "slide" in my carousel which i think woulod require a link to the page and to call a javascript function at the same time is this possible or is there another way to do it. Please help me with the following. This is not a problem in Firefox; only in IE. I am having trouble centering one DIV with a DIV to the left of the centered DIV. The DIV that is blue I would like centered according to the browser width and the red DIV I would like the same vertically as the blue DIV only left justified. In Firefox this works correctly the way I would expect. In IE the left justified div appears "pushes" the DIV ( in blue ) that I want centered further to the right; making it un-centered. thanks for any assistance. Code: <div width="100%"> <div align = "left" style="width:200px;float:left;background-color:#ff0000;"> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">This needs to be left justified........</p> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">This needs to be left justified........</p> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">This needs to be left justified........</p> </div> <div align="center" style="background-color:#00ff00;"> <div style="width: 500px;background-color:#0000ff;"> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">this needs to be centered.................................................................................. </p> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">this needs to be centered.................................................................................. </p> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">this needs to be centered.................................................................................. </p> <p style="font-size: 8pt;">this needs to be centered </p> </div> </div> Not sure where to put this.. Is it possible to include off-site content [Content from other websites] into your own page and style it accustomed to your page? For Example: If Website A has a table of data, could I somehow grab that data and include it in my site, but then have it altered according to my CSS to look how i want? Hi, I have a question to all. How can I made 100% header (bg only), normal content area (fixed width) then 100% box and below normal content area (fixed wifth and at last 100% footer. When I start adding the content to my website, it pops up on top of the menu and the logo in the top of the page? Do you know what I can do to get it under the menu? Here is my HTML and CSS Code HTML Code: HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 TRANSITIONAL//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset-UTF-8" /> <title>Andersen Undercover Records</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="page.css" /> </head> <body> <ul id="nav"> <TABLE BORDER=0 BORDERCOLOR=black width="700"> <TR><td> <li><a href="#">HOME</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">ARTISTS</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">MUSIC</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">NEWS</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">VIDEOS</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">PHOTOS</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">ABOUT</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#">CONTACT</a></li></td> </tr> </ul> <div id="content"> </body> </html> CSS CODE Code: * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } body { font-size: 62.5%; font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; background: url(images/background.png) repeat-x top } li { font-size: 1.2em; } p { font-size: 1.0em; line-height: 1.4em; margin-bottom: 0.8em; } ul#nav { height: 290px; width: 894px; margin: 0 auto; background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat; list-style: none; } ul#nav li a { display: block; margin-top: 298px; float: left; width: 50px; margin-left: 52px; color: grey; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; padding-top: 2px; } ul#nav li a:hover, ul#nav li a:active { color: white; div#content { padding-bottom: 50px; float:left; } div#footer { background: url(images/) color: white; padding: 10px 0 10px 0; text-transform: uppercase; border-top: 0px solid black; text-align: center; } My index.html file is like this (www.omegaintertrade.ro) Quote: <html> <head> <title>Omega Intertrade Test Site</title> <link rel='stylesheet' rev='stylesheet' href='global.css'type='text/css' media='screen' charset='utf-8' /> </head> <body> <div id='wrapper'> <div id='wrapper2'> <div id='header'><img src="logo.jpg" height = 120 border="0" hspace="25" > </div> <div id='leftcolumn'> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li> <li><a href="mb.htm">About Me</a></li> <li><a href="mb.htm">Products </a></li> <li><a href="mb.htm">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div> <div id='rightcolumn'><div class= "bheader">This column is intentionally blank!</div> </div> <div id='bodytext'> <div class= "bheader">Home</div> Main text area <br> stay with omega to see the further developments</div> <div id='footer'>Footer</div> </div> </div> <body> </html> As you may see it is consist of header footer and 3 columns in the middle. While visitors navigate through menus only bodytext content will change. For example after registering the site, a small message will appear like 'thank you for registering' on bodytext. How should i place that message in the page(on "bodycontent")? Should i create another html document exact like index.html except changing the content of the "bodycontent" section. This idiot solution comes to my mind Is there another short and easy solution? Hi, I have a table containing 2 nested tables. The left nested table contains a vertical navigation menu, and the right nested table I want to use for content. I want to be able to click a link on the navigation menu, and only have the content in the right nested table change, without having to reload a new page everytime. The reason I want to do it this way is to edit one set of links and not have to copy and paste the menu into each new page I create. Otherwise link management becomes a real hassle when I make future changes. Thank you. I have been a hobbyist web developer for a lil bit but I have been looking for this info but I dont think my search terms are corrent... What I want to do is make a page that has the side menu, Header, Footer. Stay the same but have links and pages that would change inside the content part of the site. Embarrassingly what I have been doing is making copies of the index file for each page . I Know there must be a better way. If someone could shed some light on my problem. Bradley hi, i have a problem i don't know how to solve. i have a web template i designed and in the middle of the template i have something written. now what i need to do is when user clicks on the button it should load the different page that has everything the same except the middle text. i know i can do this by creating a new template and just put in the different text in ti and then create a link to this page but when you have a hudge amount of different middle data it becomes pretty difficult to administrate all. so my question know is how to create a template html script that can only change its middle context by loading different txt file so i don't have to write a new html template for every text file that i want put into my page sorry if this is not written properly but i'm still learning.... thnx |
