HTML - Dotted Space Filler For Html (with Coldfusion, Sql)
Hi, I'm trying to find a way to fill the empty space between a description and its relative letter for example:
blablablalbalbalblablabla (***carry over to the second line because out of space) blabla----(white space)----a. (** the letter) the description is done by cold fusion query and the structure is in a table with the vertical align = bottom to ensure the letter match the last line of the description. now I need to make change to this so that the whitespace between the last line do the description and the letter is filled with dots like this: blablablalbalbalblablabla (***No dots on the line above the last line) blabla ............................ a. I've tried number of methos but none of them sync well with my situation, Any suggestion on how to do this will be greatly appreciated, Thanks in Advance!! Similar TutorialsI'm trying to come up with a way to mimic a "tab fill" in html: Like this only the page numbers would be justified to the same line, and the . .. is "auto generated" to fill the empty space: 1. The First Line ................................... 25 2. Below The First ................................. 32 3. After That .......................................... 47 The "titles" would be in column 'a', and the numbers would be in column 'b' The space after the "titles" would be filled with ... I have come close using 'bottom border' but that puts the ... under the text as well. I tried using span and div, but that will either putt the ... on a new line below the text, or if i use 'display:inline;' it puts it on the same, but it no longer fills the empty space to the edge, and only displays the ... when there is text inside. I tried stretching it out with a clear image but it didn't work either. Also tried using a 'highlight' (background color) on the text to cover the bottom border but that didn't really work. (the closest i got was using this method with a background image of a dot. but that wasn't much better...) Any thoughts? Thanks. Hey. Does anyone know why sometimes, after clicking on a link on my site, a dotted line appears around the link??? It doesnt matter if its a jpg, text or image map link. It doesnt always do it, but sometimes it does and looks ****ty.... thx Hi Guys, If you use this page in firefox you get an active link, dotted border on the up/down arrows. Anyone know of a way to stop this happening with styles? Code: http://www.stompfrog.co.uk/rp/ I guess you could use a js function to take the focus off the link but would prefer a css solution if possible. Stomp Perhaps it's just me, but I recently noticed this and I'm curious as to how it works. I don't even know if this is the right forum for this though. Take a look at these two pictures and websites. http://www.slidedeck.com/examples/reddal http://www.friendgiftr.com/ If you notice in the picture and the actual website, the first example does not show a tiny dotted border around the link that you click. But on the second site, clicking on a link will have that link surrounded by the thin dotted border. At least that's how it is for me on the latest version of Firefox and Internet Explorer. Is this something browser based? Or what? Why the inconsistency? I have had this problem on almost all the websites I've made and I'm too picky to let it go... When I make the navigation images/buttons for a website, I set the border to zero as usual and link each image to its respective page. But, when I click on the image to take me where it's supposed to, this pesky dotted border appears around the edge of the image after it has been clicked and it remains there until I click on something else on that page. (This also happens to text links when clicked, but I'm not too worried about the text links.) For the websites I've made that go to an entirely new page after an image link is clicked, the dotted line appears around the linked image after it's clicked and before the next page has loaded, but then after the new page loads the dotted line is gone. But, for websites I have built that utilize frames, because the new page that loads is in an iframe, and because the page the navigation buttons are located on never changes, the dotted border stays around the image after its been clicked and, like I mentioned earlier, doesn't go away until I click on something else on that same page. An example of this can be seen when you click the images in the navigation column along the left side of a website I built located at the following URL: http://www.djprogress1.com/ This border problem could be specific to my website browser (I use Firefox), but I am not sure. And the border could be added entirely by the browser and there may be no way to get rid of it through coding, but again, I am not sure of this. So, does anyone know if anything can be done to fix this or am I stuck with these dotted borders? Thanks, Jase Hi, The following code works fine for me except it adds extra spaces on the top of the table. I have searched everywhere for answers in vain. Can anyone help me solve it. thanks in advance. We use Expression Engine Here is the code: <table bgcolor="#003399" border=".1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="height: 73px;" width="715"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="TEXT-ALIGN: center;font-size:13pt;font-weight:bold;color:#ffffff"> <h1><img height="62" src="{filedir_6}CD.jpg" style="border: .1px solid Black; margin: .5px; float: left;" width="241" /></h1> <p>Client Advocacy</p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> When I create a HTML form there always seems to be an amount of unusable space sorrounding it. Is there a way to make the HTML form fit in a smaller area? Hello, I have the following problem: I want to put online a link to local file. The name of the file has spaces in it like in the example below: HTML Code: <a href='file://H:\Documents and Settings\admin\Desktop\a b.docx' target=_blank>test</a> I also tryed: HTML Code: <a href='file://H:\Documents%20and%20Settings\admin\Desktop\a%20b.docx' target=_blank>test</a> but it still does not open the file When viewing the link properties for the first example it shows: Code: file:///H:/Documents%20and%20Settings/admin/Desktop/a%20b.docx and for the second: Code: file:///H:/Documents%2520and%2520Settings/admin/Desktop/a%2520b.docx witch is obviously not correct since it is escaped... What am I doing wrong? How should I write the link code so that it will open a local file on my pc that has spaces in it's name? Thanks for the help... <table> <tr> <td>Flag Name </td> <td><input style="background-color:010280; color:white" type="button" name="edit" value="Add" onclick="javascript:addContent(this.parentNode.parentNode.rowIndex,'Flag Name');"></td> <td><input style="background-color:010280; color:white" type="button" name="edit" value="Edit" onclick="javascript:editContent(this.parentNode.parentNode.rowIndex,'Flag Name');"></td> </tr> </table> <script> function editContent(tableRow, flag_data) { alert(flag_data); } </script> It is working properly. Please help me to solve the issue... Hi, I have a problem. some of my HTML text appears differently in the browsers. for e.g - I want my text to show normally like this - Hi My name is raj. BUT on the browser it is showing as Hi M Y na me is r aj. How do I get rid of the unwanted space. Pease help somebody and thanks in advance (",) Hey guys, EDIT: I figured it out. There was a phantom image that I had between the two that no longer belongs. Nevermind! Thanks, ~C-Style~ i almost went crazy trying to troubleshoot this one... thought i'd share. HTML Code: <style type=text/css> a:link {font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} </style> <table width="200" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr> <td width="100" valign="top"> <a href="link">Sample text </a> <td width="100" valign="top"> <a href="link">Sample text</a> </td></tr></table> Turns out a "space" at the end of the link text pushes the text upwards slightly. Simply remove the space (or add on to the other line) or use the space code [ ] The css also plays a part, this doesn't appear happen when text is "unformatted" This isn't merely an attempt to sound like something from "The Matrix", but I'm continuing to work on my companies website and for some reason in IE when I place a picture at a certain place the web page give me enough room to scroll the page right. (There isn't anything there, it just has a scroll bar at the bottom and you can scroll the whole thing right leaving it half off the page looking at just background.) Link: http://802heaven.analogcafe.net/TTCBeta/mainstage.html If someone could take a look at that and tell me some ideas for how to fix it that would be GRRRR8. Thanks. Just moved the site to its new server and added the navigation... now suddenly I have some spacing at the top and I need another set of eyes. http://www.phinfever.com/newsite Note*: Spacing not visible on IE7... it is on Firefox3 Hey guys, Need a little help with... http://www.netsketched.com/NRG/ There is a space up top that I can't get rid of. I just finished my website and inserted so flash in it before I inserted the flash everything was fine after I inserted the flash a lot of space was created under it I used the layers method because I need my flash to be on top of something. But for some reason alot of extra space is created. I tried this on a different website on mine too and the same thing happened. Here is the link have a look at it. Notice the extra space under the stickman the white space between the stickman and the footer if you can't tell then open any different page like the updates because that doesn't have the stick man. I will upload the code after maybe, but check to see what could be wrong http://differentworld.comze.com thanks, Ali Hey, I was working on some things and learning how to do some stuff on a template I was working with and there's a huge space to the right of the template that idk how to get rid of.
