HTML - Making Page Adapt To Monitor Resolution
I have a to make web page containing 2 columns. This is done.
Now what I would like to insert in the code is something like this: The 2 columns should be full screen on any resolutions. Something like the page would adapt to the monitor resolution. The percent would be 80% for the first column 20% for the se cond one. What I don't know - is how to do that. Would a table resolve this problem? What would be the code for this? Suggestion are well appreciated. Similar TutorialsHey guys I wondered if you could provide any insight into the best method to ensure that a website will look wonderful regardless of monitor resolution. I'm trying to dip my hands into the wonderful world of design and need a few kick offs to get me going. Thanks, -Rich Hi guys, i put only one image in my page. but its not align of center of the screen. Hi, I would like to know if I can make the background image (over which I will write the content of the page) to fit the space I'm using. For example, I don`t how to explain it , but I see sites with the navigation bar image or the content image to adapt its size according to the amount of text on them. And then it seems like they are infinite, again, it adapts to the isze of the page. But my background image stays the same size all the time and I can see the end of it. I know I didn`t explain it very well but I don`t know exactly what I need to do this so, if someone could help me, thanks a lot. Edited: Seo Concerns. I'm brand new to the scene of html and tryiing to create a website. I'm currently using a drop-and-drag program that does allow for some html and other scripting to help modify the page. The problem I'm having is this. When the webpage I created with a margin of 1024 x 768 appears on my monitor (1440x900) as well the monitor of a few other people I have asked, it appears fine. When I change my monitor resolution to 1024 x 768 to view the webpage, I have to scroll over to the middle of the page to begin viewing. How do I fix this so that the page is centered regardless of the monitor resolution of whomever is viewing the page? Once again, I am a beginner with the world of html so I will do my best to try to understand whatever it is that I need to input into the html to try to fix the problem. Thank you. Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me. I want a border around the entire page. It works fine in IE at all resolutions, but breaks in FF. I explicitly stated html and body heights to be 100% but that doesn't help. I should be able to spot the error, but its escaping me. Can someone please look at my code and tell me if you see anything? I am currently on a resolution of 1280x1024 and I want it work for 1024x768. Well, I want it to work for any resolution, really. In fact, I noticed the problem exists when I go from maximizing the browser window to minimizing it. Here is what it looks like at 1280x1024 with the browser window maximized. Here is what it looks like at 1024x768 or when the browser window is less than maximized. See the problem? The two background images to either side of the banner image are lessening, as the resolution decreases or the browser window is decreases. Yet, the banner image remains unaffected. How can I make sure that the html is proportional to resolution, such that the background image on either side of the banner image remain unaffected in the manner in which they are currently? Thank you. For some reason Safari does not adapt the table height to the content size. All other browsers automatically adapt the table height to the content size, but Safari doesn't, and the result of the website I am developing, when seen on Safari, is a mess... Can someone tell me how to make Safari adapt automatically adapt table height to content size? Thank you very much in advance and anyway... Cheers, John How can I set up a page that automaticaly redirects my visitors to a new page? I want to make a page on my website where someone can enter there email address and it will auto add it to my mailing list. And another place on the website where they can enter there email so unsubscribe to it. I do not have anything to start me of with this. E.g Database. Thanks your help Can someone please tell me why this page does NOT print properly? http://www.unreal-deals.com/ebooks11...-printable.php I've tried everything I can possibly think of, removed all word html tags, cleaned up the source formatting, and still it doesn't work. Print preview on IE7 shows only 7 pages, and when I print it only prints 1 page then 60+ blank pages. Whats going on? Thanks My webpage: http://beamsvillepharmacy.com/site/index.html Fits my browser perfectly, however when viewed on other computers with a lower resoultion, the page doesn't fit and is too large. How can I edit my code, or go about making it automatically fit with different resolutions? (Right now it's all simple width="" height="", and that's how I was fitting it) Thanks. I want to create a webpage that will allow a group of people to check a list of livestreams. (www.livestream.com) In the art community i'm in, there are around 20 livestreams that aren't all on the current monitor list and the owner is away. The current list is pretty fancy with some javascript and css, but i'm just looking for a list of names that go down and next to it say "Online/offline" I'm just looking for a backup for when some streams aren't listed. ex Fribox - Offline Fribox2 - Online Fribox3- Online I don't know alot of code, enough to make a simple webpage, but i'm more than willing to learn and would love some help if possible. Edit: livestream API allows me to grab status from a xml file. How do I drop this information into my webpage? I am making a site that looks like this on a normal monitor: That is what I want it to look like on all monitors. But it looks like this on my widescreen monitor: I was wondering how I can center it on just widescreen monitors, or at least how I can make it look good and not change what it looks like on the non-widescreen monitors. I am looking to upgrade my monitor to 20" widecreen, but I am a bit concerened about web design. At the moment I have a 17" TFT at 1280x1024 and I have to be really carefull when designing to make it fit 1024x768. Can anyone suggest an easy way to design for a different resolution on a widecreen monitor? thanks I need to know what the common practice is to open a printable page in a new window after a link is clicked. Something that you can print from the page or from the browser. Normally I would just open in a blank target but the window doesn't open up tight to the printable media. Any help would be great. Thanks! Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me with making my page compatible with older browsers IE7+. My page is www.marksbodyshop.org The css is: Code: html, body { height:100%; margin:0; background-color:#000; background-image:url(../images/firstpage.gif), url(../images/firstpage-backup-for-safari.gif); /* required by Safari */ background-size:100% 100%; } #container { height:73%; background-image:url(../images/update.png); background-size:100% 100%; } #nav { position:absolute; padding:0; margin:0; list-style-type:none; height:7%; width:57%; top:20%; left:20%; z-index:1; } #nav li { width:16%; margin:1%; height:100%; } #nav a { display:block; width:100%; height:100%; outline:none; text-indent:-9999px; background-size:100% 300%; } #about {background-image:url(../images/aboutus.png);} #about1 {background-image:url(../images/contactus.png);} #about2 {background-image:url(../images/freelunch.png);} #about3 {background-image:url(../images/map.png);} #about4 {background-image:url(../images/meettheteambutton.png);} #nav a:hover {background-position:0 -100%;} #nav a:active {background-position:0 -200%;} Hi. This is something I have pondered on for a very long time and wish to know how to resolve. I have no idea if it is possible but I think I have seen it done before. I need a piece of code for a frame that will automatically readjust itself to the page that is targeted in the frame, but will only go so far as the parameters I set it to. To me, it sounds like a rather complicated code and I'm really not sure whether it is possible, but if it is, it would be extremely useful for forum pages that are set to be inside a webpage. What I want to achieve with this, is to have the frame to be able to extend itself inside the page, without putting a scrollbar on the actual frame. The page I have isn't actually structured with frames, so I would like to keep it that way. I have no idea if this IS possible but I would like to know. Thanks, KGB. Hi, I am working on adding non java-script buttons on my website using CSS style sheets. I used a technique given at http://builder.com.com/5100-6371-5323375-2.html. I modified the colors a little but it is basically using technique 2 at this link. Everything works well with the exception of one issue. In Internet Explorer, when I press a link and then use the back button on the browser to return to the previous page, the link for the previous page is still selected and the button appears to still be "pressed". You can see this by going to http://www.apexmoves.com with internet explorer, clicking one of the buttons on the left side of the site, and then using the browser's back button. You will see that the link that was clicked is still selected and this button appears to be stuck in the down position. If you click anywhere else on the screen, the button is released. This is because the link for the pressed button is has the status of active. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this. Is that a way to make the status of this link "visited"? Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brad Hi All Quick question for some im sure, Im in the process of designing a site for someone, and ideally i want it to fit the hole screen does any one know of the top of there head the CSS for this? reason i ask this because they have said they wont the page to be 960px width and iv said the majority of sites today fill the hole display of a monitor which they then agreed on Any one know? Or am i right in saying i have to just play around with the page properties in the CSS. Thanks in advance |
