HTML - Width And Height In % Not Working
Hello,
If I measure height and width in % instead of pixels then it does not work in firefox. It only ends up displaying only small region of iframe instead of specified size. But this works perfectly fine on IE. Below is the code. <iframe id="theFrame" name="iframes" src="http://www.abc.org" align="top" height="94%" width="96%"></iframe> Thanks, Ruchir Similar TutorialsHi. Is it wrong to exceed the width or height of a <div>, or any other tag? For instance, I've got a <div>, which I set to 50px. Now this is more then I need, because it's only 1 line of text, but I'm using a background image with 50px in height in the <p> tag inside the <div> tag. However, I don't want the <div> tag to be 50px, only 25px. It's complicated to explain why I need it like this, and I probably haven't done it correctly, but my question is: is it okay for the contents inside a <div> tag to be wider/higher then the actual <div> tag? Thank you ;D It seems to me all the browsers have no problems to display an image if (width & height) parameters are missing. What is the purpose of using (width & height)? Does it make website working faster? Thanks I can't have IE space my cols/row as expected: I want that my cols/rows have an exact width/height, with the final col/row take the remaining space of the table (which I don't know exactly). This works well with Chrome and FF, but IE keeps spreading my cols/rows along the whole space as if the dimentsions I defined were minimum dimensions as opposed to exact dimensions. eg: HTML Code: <table><tr> <td width="100">100 desired</td> <td width="100">100 desired</td> <td>remaining space</td> </tr></table> any help? Hi everyone, How can I set a fixed width and height for the whole frameset: Code: <html> <frameset cols="25%,50%,25%"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_a.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_b.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_c.htm"> </frameset> </html> I'd like the frameset to be just 400 x 200 px. But when I insert the above code it covers my whole webpage. Also I'd like to put a border around the frameset. Your help is really appreciated! Regards Rain Lover I have a background image written like (<div style="background-image:url(gbackground.gif); width:100%; height:100%). the problem is that only the right side of the image stretches to fill out the right side of the browser window. as seen here only the right grey column stretches to fill out the browser window, while the left side stays at its original width. in the image the columns are equal width. any way i can fix this? thx. I don't know if this question is posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm currently using iframe for my posting entries, and I can't figure out the script for auto height. I'm tired of setting the height by hand, every time my entries starts to stretch. Now regarding the width, would that be possible too? if not, I'm not too concerned. Most important is the height. If anyone have the answers to this please reply. Thanks in advance! (: hello Every can any one tellme How can i make a webpage open in Fixed height and Width which is to be opened by a Hyperlink Example : like when you click On MORE link From The Smilies in this Forum it open a Small Window Resizeble Window Hi All, Im just wondering what the standard Width and Height is for a website nowadays? Thanks in Advance dear guys: i have a javascript code which shows 10 recent post of my blog by RSS, there is a advertise of that site at the bottom of it, some friend told me to add : <div> tags to it and define width and height for it and for the height change the number until the ad disappears... also he told me to put the flow on "hidden" but i don't understand much can u help me out? here is an example: Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://rssReader.com/code.php?t=1&back=_fff&color=_444&box=_fff&max=10&rss=http://sokkan.ir/post/rss/' ></script> I've got another problem with my website. I've taken a screenshot that I wanted for my website background. But since it was took on my screen, it doesn't fill the screen on wider monitors. I'm just wondering if there's any information on auto-resizing a website background. Or is it a scirpt/CSS/php style thing? This problem seems abit more complex than me previous problem. I'm on a 19 inch monitor. Here is my website for those that have bigger screens than me. http://www.dawncraftmc.com/ I created a JSP with a table and for the columns in td I have width as percentage. This works perfectly in Firefox But IE gives different width. Here is the part of jsp relevant to this table. <tr> <td id="event" width="14%" ><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getEvent()) %></td> <td id="eventDate" width="14%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getEventDate()) %></td> <td id="createdBy" width="12%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getEventCreatedBy()) %></td> <td id="server" width="11%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getServer()) %></td> <td id="fileName" width="20%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getFileName()) %></td> <td id="fileGroup" width="8%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getFileGroup()) %></td> <td id="count" width="6%"><%= eventVO.getNumberOfTimesChanged() %></td> <td id="note" width="15%"><%= StringUtil.removeNull(eventVO.getNote()) %></td> </tr> Thank you. Hi, I am having problem to make min-width woking with all browsers, the following page: http://codeturtle.com/files/min-width.html works as expected with FF, IE9, IE8, but does not work well with Chrome, IE 9 Compatibility mode (IE7) or IE 9 Quirks mode (IE6). I need to make it to work with all browsers and I don't want to use width. Thanks Hello all. I hope you can help me with the following problem with the mobile version of http://thekind.tk, my band's website. (direct link for desktops) As you can probably see, the website isn't that big but on my ipod it appears zoomed out. Of course the first thing I tried was putting this line between my <head>: Code: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"/> But somehow this doesn't do anything for me. Even if I play with the parameters such as putting the scale at 2 or 3, the whole meta thing doesn't seem to affect my site's viewport at all. Any ideas on how to solve this? Hey all, http://www.lindesigns.us/rma/rmaonline.php If you go to that site on Firefox, the "Return Code #" expands. But if you use IE, you'll see that it doesn't. I could add a fix in there for the fields if they were static, but if you see my javascript, they are dynamically loading fields. This "class":"wide" is not working: Code: invoiceInput.appendChild(createElement("input", {"type":"text", "name":"invoice[]", "size":"8", "class":"wide;"})); I am using a script I found on a jQuery board (http://jsbin.com/acado/6), and it works for them, but not for me because my syntax is probably wrong. And they also are just using 1 field and not near-unlimited dynamically loading fields like I am. How would I add in a fix to have the browser 'only' use the expansion if the user is using IE6 or IE7? I searched on the boards but couldn't find the solution to this problem. Thanks in advance! im creatinh a box containing a text. The box must be wide enough to fill a text. menu.style.width = tekst.length - this functioin gives the number of letters in text. So if the text is "hello" then the width is 5 pixels. But i need the widith of pixels needed to fit the text in a box. How can i do that? I will be brief in hoping that the issue does not require a thesis to properly fix. I'm dealing with tables within tables..within tables. In one instance, I have a 2x1 (row by column) table inside another table. So, we'll call the inside table "B" and the outside table "A". Table B is centered inside a column in Table A. I'm trying to maximize the space, but nearly nothing works. Setting Table B height=100% does nothing. The only thing that works is setting the height=N px, where N is a number. This is no good, as I want to the site to work on all resolutions. I want it to be proportional. How can I fix this? Here's what I'm dealing with, visually: Any help would be welcome. Thanks. Hi, Is there away to force my website to fit an Iphone screen when viewed on the iphone. At the moment the width doesn't full span the Iphones screen so it looks bad. http://pjm.co.uk.uksite4.yourwebserv...splay&PageID=5 Thanks alot Joe Hi Everyone, I'm slightly confused by this one. But i'm sure theres a hack out there to fix it. Basically, in firefox and konqueror, running on kubuntu, the top navigation bar at http://www.tendervendors.com/dev/payroll.html displays correctly, and when you hover over it, it fills the li with a semi-opaque background. This is correct. Its done, by filling the a element, with a background-color and then applying opaque: 0.5; The a element also has padding, which makes it fill out to the size of the li element, so the a element fills its portion of the ul, and looks like the li has the affect applied to it. However, in opera, the right and left padding is correct, but the height padding doesn't work. Does anyone know of a bug in opera that would be causing this problem, and possibly a code fix for it? TIA Matthew Millar Please check my new website at http://www.lombrozo.co.uk the main part of each page is a table with width set to 100%, but as you can see, it doesn't quite fill the width of the browser, you can see this by the thick grey line on the right side... Any ideas? any help much appreciated. Thanks, Simon. code: <table width="464" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <!--DWLayoutDefaultTable--> <tr> <td width="282" height="88"></td> <td width="136"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td height="76"> </td> <td valign="top"><img src="../Images/yoga_sangha-title.jpg" alt="title" width="557" height="131" /></td> </tr> </table> in browser, the <td width="282" height="88"></td> element has width of alomost 0 instead of a width of 282. Why? Thx. |
