Hello, I wasn't exactly sure which category to post this question in, but I am having problems uploading a completed website. All of the files have been uploaded to the "www" folder on the server. When I type in the web address on the computer I upload from it appears to be live and working. When I try to view the site on a second computer I get a "server not found" error. Is there something I am doing incorrectly? Thanks for any help you can offer! Hi, I'm just about to upload my website and was wondering how it works. I'm going to be using filezilla. What i'm not sure about is how do I define what page shows up as my home page. Do I need to put the web address inside the HTML code, or name the file before uploading. I was also unsure about what I need to write at the top of my HTML pages, I;ve copied and pasted an example form a webpage I have open at the moment: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html lang="en-US" xml:lang="en-US" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Can anyone explain what this means?? I hope this will make sense to someone Thanks in advance Dyfrig I want to make an image upload like the one in facebook that you can choose multiple images to upload and it also shows the directories. I'm not sure what it's called and how to do it. Hopefully someone can help me Thanks I use frontpage to edit my page (so I can view it before uploading it to the web) It shows exactly the way I want it when I save it and view it on my HD but once I upload it to the server... it's the same... Then when I edit it again and upload the "update".... it's messed up. Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks Lace Is there somewhere I can upload code so that it can be seen by forum members? Im trying to fix my layout for ebay and I don't really have anywhere else I can put it besides posting all the code here. Hello everyone. I'm new to HTML and experimenting... I have a domain www.thomgreg.com linux hosted by godaddy. I've started going thru "Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML" and am in chapter 2. On my local computer the pages displayed fine but after uploading to the server the text displays but the images do not. I have all the images and html files in the same directory, a directory called "html" directly off of root. the img src element I'm using is: <img src="drinks.jpg"> and, again, drinks.jpg and index.html are in the same directory. The home page displays without the image though...!! Also if I try to show the drinks.jpg directly by using www.thomgreg.com/html/drinks.jpg I get a page cannot be found error. Any ideas...? Thanks...! Hey everyone, im making a website for my girlfriend... lol and she wants me to upload pictures of her product on a webpage what is the code segment for doing this? thanks alot for everyones help im starting to get the hang of this Hey everyone, I'm the owner of a small business who had a website made recently. Unfortunately, I felt the style of the designer wasn't what I was looking for so we parted ways. So, basically I am left with a mostly done website, including code for a sliding bar of pictures (sorry for the non-technical phrases) for the online shop section of the site. My problem is I don't know how to upload pictures to the bar! Right now all it has is a "coming soon" picture. Can anyone help? URL is: http://outoftheblue.ca/newarrivalsOOTB.html Thanks! Hi friends , I want to upload the contains of the text file on jsp or html page . I can able to do it on desktop application using File handling function in java but not getting how to do it to upload the contains of text file on html page . And the contains of the text file is getting updated at every hour which also need to be reflected on the page . I want that all the contains get visibled on html page as it is in text file , without changing format Thanks hi! Firstly I would like to state my first impression about this site. Judging the activity of members by the amount of posts I can see that this is the best place to discuss anything website-related. So I hope I enjoy my time here Now, onto my question. I have all my files stored on my computer (.htm + graphics + other junk), and have already purchased a domain. I was wondering how to upload these files onto my site, and get my site going. I understand that I need to purchase a hosting service. I tried that, and didn't understand what to do. I uploaded all my files with the uploader provided, including the index.htm files, and nothing happened. I was then sent to filezilla - some kind of FTP someting (I don't even know what FTP is), and I had no idea what to do with that software. help please? I am wanting to embed a swf file in my website. I have worked out how to do this, but I need to upload my flash file to a url somewhere else. I have read about wordpress being used for this, but I don't want to use Wordpress. Is there any other sites I can use. Note: the files need to be given a url that they can be viewed from. Thank you. Bethan Hi folks! I'm learning HTML so that I can eventually design my own website. While I'm creating code, is there software out there, or some way to view the results of my HTML without having to upload it to my host first? Thanks! Hi I have written a gallery where a user can upload a photograph. This uses a form to upload the photo, and insert data into a MySQL table. What I want to do, is instead of having to go through the submit button, have a button where the user can click, this will upload the image, create a thumbnail, display the thumbnail on the page - but the page is not refreshed........... Can this be done with AJAX? Bearing in mind, I have little/no experience with Javascript - but I'm willing to learn! If this can be done, and it's using AJAX, are there tutorials out there to which I could be directed? Many thanks S I have an HTML form that allows users to browse for an image. I need that image to then be displayed on that form once the "Upload" button is pressed. Code anyone? -Sorry if this one doesnt belong here, didnt know where else to ask- I finished the first version of a site for my first client (yay me!) and it is pure HTMl and CSS I wanted to upload it to show it to them, but they tell me their previous webmaster showed them the sites BEFORE putting it live... How do I do that? they dont want anybody to go to "www.mysite.com" and see the site before is complete. Thank you in advance for your answers! The title sounds kind of odd. I am going to make a little branch of my website just for a couple of my friends so that we can put all of out ideas out on one page. I was not sure what catagroy this fell under, so I just put it under HTML because it can be moved. I was wondering, how do I go about makeing a code, (Or copying and pasteing if there is one) that will allow my friends and I to upload pictures onto a page, without logging into the web host. I want people to be able to upload some large image files (>5M each) to my site using an upload form - the usual <input type="file" name="file" size="30" /> <input value="Upload" style="width: 60px" title="blah blah" type="submit" /> The first time someone tried it they said they couldn't upload their file. I then experimented and found that I couldn't upload files of more than about 2M size (2M worked, 2.5M and higher didn't work). Theserver seemed to give up after awhile and print out the error message that I put in for instances when the file didn't successfully upload. Is there a size limit for files uploaded through HTML forms? If so, is there a way to increase this limit via the HTML script, or something else? Hi. Thanks in advance. I'm obviously still a beginner. I'm looking to add an "upload file" section to a formail script I have setup. I don't need any of the security, and bells and whistles for now. I will take take care of that once I get this initially setup. I understand that I would use this code in the form fields; <p>File to upload: <input type="file" name="first_file" /></p> <p>File to upload: <input type="file" name="second_file" /></p> I just don't know what to put in the beginning of the script to match this upload code form field. Here's the code for the formail I have so far. HTML Code: <form method="POST" action="http://old-wizard.com/cgi-sys/FormMail.cgi" target="_top"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="recipient" VALUE="info@maybrookvending.com"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="subject" VALUE="WebSite Contact"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="redirect" VALUE="http://maybrookvending.com/thanks.htm"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="required" VALUE="email,email_confirm,your_name"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" name="sort" value="through,regarding,your_name,employees,phone,company_name,email,email_confirm,comments"> <TABLE BORDER="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <TR><TD> Name:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="your_name" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Company:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="company_name" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Number of Employees:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="employees" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Phone:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="phone" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Email:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="email" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Please confirm your e-Mail:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="email_confirm" SIZE="30" class="shadeform"><br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <br> Contact regarding:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <select name="regarding" class="dropdown"> <option selected value="None selected">Please Select One ----></option> <option value="Question about our website">Question about our website</option> <option value="Question about our services">Question about our services</option> <option value="Question about our products">Question about our products</option> </select><br> <br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> How did you find our website?<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <select name="through" class="dropdown"> <option selected value="None selected">Please Select One ----></option> <option value="Ask_Jeeves">Ask Jeeves</option> <option value="Excite">Excite</option> <option value="Google">Google</option> <option value="Hotbot">Hotbot</option> <option value="Infoseek">Infoseek</option> <option value="Lycos">Lycos</option> <option value="MSN">MSN</option> <option value="other">Other</option> </select><br> <br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> Comments and questions:<br> </TD></TR><TR><TD> <TEXTAREA NAME="comments" ROWS="9" COLS="35" class="textarea"></TEXTAREA> <br><br> <input type="submit" value="Submit" onMouseOver="this.className='buttonon-submit'" onMouseOut="this.className='button-submit'" class="button-submit"> <input type="reset" value="Clear" onMouseOver="this.className='buttonon-submit'" onMouseOut="this.className='button-submit'" class="button-submit"><br> </td></tr></table> </FORM> |
