HTML - Dreamweaver Formatting Problems
Hi everyone. A friend of mine designed his website in Dreamweaver. He wanted to change a lot of things about his website, but could not do it himself. For the past few weeks, he'd tell me what he wanted to change, and I changed it (via HTML, not Dreamweaver).
He recently mentioned that he can no longer edit the files from Dreamweaver the way he used to. When he tries to add line breaks, all he gets are indentations. When he tries to format text, things don't always work right. It doesn't seem WYSIWYG anymore. Obviously, it must have something to do with my hand-coding vs. Dreamweaver's style of coding. But I don't even have a copy of Dreamweaver and I don't know where to start debugging. Does this issue stand out to anyone? Is anyone thinking, "Oh! I know exactly why that's happening?" If so, please let me know! Maybe it's the inline CSS I'm using? On the other hand, it looked like a lot of the issues concentrated around Dreamweaver's use of
,
, and
. (I don't know whether it's Dreamweaver or my friend, but a lot of the layout uses these tags.) What can I do? Similar TutorialsI am trying to slowly put together a very simple content management site for a footy club i run, the data is stored in a mysql database and lined to the web page using a dynamic table from within dreamweaver, it displays all the info except one thing it appears in one huge paragraph, take a look at my page Link is at: http://itdesignz.co.uk/Clients/RTFC/cms/home.php The Data in the mysql has the spaces and enters breaks in it, but these are not reflected in my page. I am really new to dreamweaver and am not sure how to overcome this problem, Please help Andy I have read various post all over the net about site problems in IE but ok in Firefox, Safari etc. Well, I have that problem too and have failed to identify the problem within my site. I am a novice websiter - relying on DW to do most of it for me! So any help would be appreciated. see www.nailseachoral.org.uk the navigation bar should not have a box around the words (present, future, gallery etc) and the home button should not have a purple box around it! Looks ok in Firefox and Safari. I am suspecting the image sizing code could be a factor? Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks, Hi Team, I'm having problems formatting images in HTML. Here is my site: http://ledtvprices.org.uk/ I would like to "left align" the merchant logo buttons at the top so that they all sit evenly above the H1 Tag and start from the left to the right, rather than the middle of the page. I'd also like to left align all the tv images and space them all out evenly. How do I achieve this in HTML? Thanks. Sunil. Alright since you all were so much help with my last question, here's another. if you look at my website ottersupport.com, you will see that the first page is using a template. I downloaded this and it is working/looks correct on this page but if you click the links for "Rates" and " terms" the templates styles are not on the left side like they are on the first page. I don't see any problems with the code, however I really don't know what I am doing. Thanks in advance, James --Come on is there seriously nobody that can answer this ? If I have this in the wrong area let me know or move it. Hi there, I'm a relative novice in HTML, but when i try to post the above two images, they appear one below the other, not side by side. I tried to use a series of
,
, and <tb> things to sort it into two collumns and one row, but this screwed up the formatting on the forum i tried to post them on. I wonder if there's any possibilty you could give me a simple way to allow both these images to sit next to each other on a page, without it being too cumbersome? Many thanks. When you are using dream weaver for a website, do you have to install it onto the server I was going to use it because I think it's a nice layout for HTML coding. ok, so since i've switched over to Div i felt like there was no more needs for Dreamweaver anymore. Does anyone feel like this? I mean, maybe i just don't know how to use DIV in Dreamweaver, becuase i've been doing it all by hardcoding by hands. becuase when i try to align a div to the right or left, there is no button in the property that lefts me do it, so i have to get into the code and change it. and when i do use it, seems like the only feature to use is "layers" ( i think this "is" div ). so currently i'm thinking that dreamweaver is built for tables. is this correct? Shoot, now i feel like i've spent so much money and now is barely using the program anymore( execpt for the typing tool tip). can you please give a site or link where can I download dreamweaver? I have heard is good to build web pages and learn html. Thanks! I'm starting a new website on Dreamweaver. Can't remember how I did this the first time: I need some jpg images to go into my images folder. I created a folder for my website on my hard disk (local root folder)...and I defined my site on Dreamweaver, with an image folder....but when I try to add images to the folder, it won't accept them on Dreamweaver. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I have a site and the spry menu bar won't go all the way across the screen. anyone know why? In the site: www.eldon.com see those little dotted lines in the page? I couldn't figure out how they did this to save my life... Thanks... I have been following this incomplete tutorial series http://www.youtube.com/user/EdzJohnson and have a finished product of what was done in Photoshop Website Design Tutorial 2. As of right now there is no third tutorial but I would still like continue developing my website. Currently the code represents the lay out of sliced up images for the web banner and some map tags surrounding the locations of where a button would link you to something else. However, I do not know where to place the link tags so the map locations actually link you to something else. does anyone know where to place the link tags? How do I rectify them? Please see the link which is mentioned below http://www.sahiwala.com/christian/index.html Please give me a solution at the best Best Regards Hello every1, I'm using adobe cs3 now, but i seem to be having a little bit of a problem. When i come to type in the html code: wmode="transparent" The code does not seem to work now. What is the new code that i will need to enter? Or do you have to do something in flash? Thanks for the info? OK, i've got a comments box for my website, but I want it to be posistioned to where I want, not just above everything else on the page. Is there anyway to do this, like type co-ordinates or something in code ? Sorry if thishas been asked before Cheers I need to make sure my site is validated with XHTML but i don't think Dreamweaver is doing it right. I made one page and it said it was all good but i left some span tags open. It never mentioned that though. So how do i validate in Dreamweaver against XHTML? Where do i check what it validates against? In the Validate menu it says "If no DOCTYPE is detected, validate against" then has a list of HTML 2, 3, 4, XHTML 1..etc Does that mean i need to remove the DOCTYPE that's in the code or just make sure it's the right one I'm validating againt? Thanks for any help. Greetings, I am working on a site for my screen printing business. I am momentarily stumped by the way Dreamweaver is displaying my layout. I have set up a standard two column layout with a header and a footer. With that being said, I needed to have two images appear in a precise location in order to blend properly with the background. I therefore used the AP Div from the layout menu. When aligning the image in Dreamweaver, the image is perfect, however, when tested in the browser, it drops down about 50+ pixels. To remedy the situation, I moved the image up to the point that it is covering the text above it, and when tested in the browser, it worked (because I accounted for it shifting down). I am thinking that there is something I'm missing, but I am not sure what. Every once in a while, my brain falls asleep and I can't see the simple error(s) staring me in the eye. You can view the site at www.prestigeinteractive.com/fireproof2 Thanks, Greg Hi. Can anybody tell me the best way of adding a
to loads of pages that I have made without a template. I need to add a
to the top of every page I have built on a site (approx 250 pages) Basically I need to add a "back to index" link!!! Leroy hi.i need some help : i got a web page that looks something like this how can i make the background image to autoresize according to the screen resolution of the monitor from where the page is seen?same with the banner and the rest of the images.i basically want my website to look exactly like in the picture no matter what is the resolution of the screen and without a scroll bar. and another thing: how can i make to load only the text on the orangebox when i click a side link(e.g:assus) without refreshing the hole page.and how can i put a scroll only on the orange box so i can put a longer text and not to exit from that rectangular space? thank you Recently we switched servers and now I can access my remote files but I cannot upload anything from the local site to the remote site. It gives me an error code of "550" and says that access is denied. Is there some setting that I'm missing? Right now I can't even update anything on the website and I really need to. |
