HTML - Passing Arguments From Html To Applets
Hi, I have trouble to pass arguments to the main class in applets.
There are three different class within the Main class in the applets, Easy.class, Intermediate.class and Expert.class. In HTML, how can I pass arguments to applets so that they can interact with each other by calling the three classes from the main class? The codes a HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Jigsphere Main</title> <link href="../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/MainPage.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <!--[if IE]> <style type="text/css"> /* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */ .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 { padding-top: 30px; } .twoColElsLtHdr #mainContent { zoom: 1; padding-top: 15px; } /* the above proprietary zoom property gives IE the hasLayout it needs to avoid several bugs */ </style> <![endif]--> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style1 { font-family: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: #3366FF; } body { background-color: #00CCFF; } --> </style> <script src="../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body class="twoColElsLtHdr"> <div id="container"> <div id="header"> <h1 align="center" class="style1"><img src="Logo.gif" alt="logo" width="354" height="84" /><!-- end #header --> </h1> </div> <div id="sidebar1"> <h3> <script type="text/javascript"> AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0','width','306','height','309','title','Logo','src','../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/bluesphere','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash','movie','../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/bluesphere' ); //end AC code </script> <noscript> <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" width="306" height="309" title="Logo"> <param name="movie" value="../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/bluesphere.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="../../../Users/User/Documents/JigSphere.com/bluesphere.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="306" height="309"></embed> </object> </noscript> </h3> <!-- end #sidebar1 --></div> <div align="center"> <p><img src="Easy button.png" alt="easy" width="264" height="64" /></p> <p> <!-- This clearing element should immediately follow the #mainContent div in order to force the #container div to contain all child floats --> <img src="Intermediate button.png" alt="intermediate" width="264" height="64" /></p> <p><img src="Expert button.png" alt="expert" width="264" height="64" /></p> <p><img src="High Scores button.png" alt="high scores" width="264" height="64" /></p> <p align="center"><img src="Quit.png" alt="quit" width="113" height="65" /><br class="clearfloat" /> </p> </div> <div id="footer"> <p align="center">JigSphere™</p> <!-- end #footer --></div> <!-- end #container --></div> </body> </html> I want to embed the codes in the image button.png, once user click any of the button, the requested class will be passed by applets to HTML and displaying the page in HTML. Similar TutorialsHi, I've been trying to figure out how to use OBJECT and/or EMBED tags to embed a java applet in webpages and I can't make sense of it. I want people to be able to embed the java player in their own website or myspace page or whatever. I have found several similar examples and tutorials online, but I haven't been able to successfully adapt them for my situation. The webpage needs to open a java applet player archived in a .jar file on our website, and that player also takes a parameter for which project to play, with the projects saved elsewhere on our website. I can get the player to load, but I think there is a problem with taking the parameter to specify what file to open within the player. I have completely working code using an APPLET tag but since APPLET is deprecated I want to accomplish the same thing using OBJECT for IE and OBJECT or EMBED for Mozilla. I assume I will have to use some sort of browser detection and conditional statements to accomodate both browsers, but right now I can't even get something working for just one or the other. I have a couple of test pages, including the working versions with the applet tag, he http://web.mit.edu/jhansel/Public/HTML%20testing/. If anyone knows how to do this, or has any ideas what I might be doing wrong, it would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much. Jon Hey, I'm trying to pass a variable from some HTML code to JavaScript and I'm having some trouble. For example: HTML Code: <form name ="columnList" onchange="submitForm(this);"> Column: <c:forEach var="columnitem" items="${columns}"> <c:if test="${columnitem.name != this.document.columnList.name}"> <input type="checkbox" name="selectedColumns" id="${columnitem.name}" value="${columnitem.name}">${columnitem.name} </input> <script type="text/javascript" language ="JavaScript"> var col = document.columnList.columnitem.name; setColumns(col); </script> </c:if> </c:forEach> I'm trying to get the columnitem name from the HTML portion to the script. And I know that columnitem.name works for the check boxes. Can anyone help me out? Hi Everyone I have a problem with my form in that I have an html page with a dropdown list. I need the value selected to be passed to another html file. However I need this done with html and not javascript/css/asp etc. As an e.g. of what I have: <form name="connect" action="trace.php" method="get"> <select name="sites"> <option selected option value="http://www/connect.php">Choose A Site</option> <option value="http://10.20.12.50" name="Site1">Site1</option> <option value="http://10.20.12.55" name="Site2">Site2</option> <option value=http://10.20.12.40" name="Site3">Site3</option> </select> <br><br> <input type="Submit" value="Traceroute"> </form> So if the user selects site2 I need the name (or value) from the option field sent to trace.php and from the trace.php website i need to retrieve the value selected from the above. Can someone please help me by telling me how to do this? At the moment I cannot retrieve the value from the trace.php site. I have used $_POST & $_GET, but neither seem to work and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. TIA No. I think I got misunderstood. in my Page1.html I have this: <a href="Page2.html?ProductID='1234'>Page 2</a> So, this would open my Page2 with variable ProductID=1234. When it opens, how could my VBScript in there pick up the received variables? Hi, I'm pretty new to HTML coding. After googling for a long time, I am unsuccessful at finding the answer I am looking for. I want to create an intranet page for server administrators. Most of the admins run Windows on their own machines, but they do administer unix and linux boxes as well as Windows servers. For unix/linux boxes, we use putty as an ssh client, and this is where the html admin page comes into play. Rather than each user having their own profiles for each machine they are going to log into, I want to administer this centrally. Each client has a copy of putty.exe on their windows box, but I want to use a central repository for all the machines you can log onto on a web server. In other words, I want to specify in URL which client application, and which host to connect to. So far I have : file:///c|/temp/putty.exe What I want to do is this: putty.exe -l <loginname>@<hosttoconnectto> example : putty.exe -l admin@1.2.3.4 I have tried multiple times to add arguments, but can't get it working. file:///c|/temp/putty.exe -P 22 -l admin 1.2.3.4 For instance, I have tried to substitute whitespaces with %20, but with no luck... I can get this to run from a command line (substituting the / with \), and removing file, ie : c:\temp\putty.exe -P 22 -l admin 1.2.3.4 How do I pass arguments to the file URI? Please help.... Simon. I'm new to all this stuff, but I am working on creating a simple drop-down menu that must pass a variable to an xml script (VXML to be exact). All files will be on a linux web host. Any suggestions on what to use for the drop-down menu web page (php, java script, etc)? Depending on what selection is chosen in the drop down, a different value need to be assigned to the variable. Thanks! hello experts , i have a small problem i wrote these two inputs as hidden "total" is a integer value , set previously & "username" is a string , set previously . but when i am passing it and retrieving it i am getting the values as "total" & "username" , not 15 and 'kane' which i have set before. in short the values are not being passed to the form. Code: <INPUT TYPE='hidden' NAME='total' VALUE='total'>"); <INPUT TYPE='hidden' NAME='username' VALUE='username'> kane I have a site (no standards, written with MS Frontpage) that I am converting to 4.01 strict with Dreamweaver. There is one big problem ... virtually all of the text in 4.01 strict is spread out vertically, especially when they are in separate paragraphs: Code: <p class="nomargin" align="center>New to stewardship?</p> <p class="nomargin" align="center>Start here!</p> where the "nomargin" class is: Code: .nomargin { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } These two sentences are close together vertically in either the MS quirky, or 4.01 transitional standard, but there is significant vertical margin (they are spread out vertically) under 4.01 strict. I need to use 4.01 strict, but I also need these paragraphs to have no margin so they are close together vertically. Why does 4.10 strict do this and how do I eliminate the margins? Thanks In a regular form with text fields, can I pass the imput from the user directly into a hidden textarea from multiple fields intertwined with html? Example: <form> <input type="text" name="firstname"> <input type="text" name="lastname"> <input type="text" name="occupation"> <input type="hidden" value="some html + firstname + some html + lastname + some html + occupation"> </form> I think this might require some javascript. Is something like this possible? Hi all, i'm new to xml but i was wondering if the following is possible: I have a html document with some tabs. And when i click on a tab it opens a xml document. In the xml document is a link to xsl sheet with a variable and i want to change that variable with the value of the link in html document. Does some one nows how? html link: <a href="#t1" target= "t1" title="[link title]">11</a> <div class="sliderkit-news" id=t1><iframe name="t1" width="100%" height="800" src=wo.xml></iframe> xml variable <xsl:variable name= "line" select="'11'"/> The number 11 should come form the a href in the html doc. Also the following is possible fill the variable with a drop down menu: <xsl:variable name= "line"> <select> <option value="'11'">11</option> <option value="'12'">12</option> <option value="'13'">13</option> </select> </xsl:variable> I want to fill the variable with a drop down selection. and then use the variable in the document. What i do is opening the xml en then it generates a display based on the xsl sheet. i hope some one can help me. Hi folks - right then, think im being thick here lol <input type="hidden" name="amount" value="myvariable2"> I have a variable say called myvariable1, how do I pass that into the above so that value becomes equal to it? ie myvariable2 = myvariable1 myariable2 also needs to be/become numeric. Any help appreciated, ta karl Ok, this sounds extremely easy but I'm more of a designer and less of a coder. I'll try and explain what I want to accomplish. I spent the better part of the afternoon yesterday searching for a solution. Alas, I need some assistance! We have a page where users can view a report in a PDF format from a drop down. Also on that page we need to have a place where they can select an option from a drop down and email the PDF to them. Now, we have the link set up. I can take a sample link, add my email address to the end of it, hit enter and it shoots me an email. The question is how can I take what the user inputs into a form and pass it into a URL. All that needs to happen is to send the user to that URL and have the URL be correct. At that point the email gets sent automatically. My best attempt so far gets me to the URL but things like &, =, etc are replaced by %3D and %26. The URL won't work that way. I'll post that code: Code: <FORM METHOD="LINK" ACTION="https://fusion.bennettware.com:4443/drivers/getfueltaxreport?"> <select name="unitfuel"> <option selected>Select Month</option> <option value="year=09&month=01&reportName=UnitTax">January 2009 </option> <option value="year=09&month=02&reportName=UnitTax">February 2009</option> </select> Type in your email address: <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="&email="> <INPUT TYPE="submit" VALUE="Send email"> </FORM> Here is what I get in the URL: (sorry had to place it in html tags because the link was only half showing up.) HTML Code: https://fusion.bennettware.com:4443/drivers/getfueltaxreport?unitfuel=year%3D09%26month%3D01%26reportName%3DUnitTax&%26email%3D=test@testmail.com Also, notice that "unitfuel" gets appended to the URL as well. It gets passed into the URL and that will likely cause the report to fail. The URL needs to look like this: HTML Code: https://fusion.bennettware.com:4443/drivers/getfueltaxreport?year=09&month=01&reportName=UnitTax&email=myemail@mydomain.com If a user were logged in and ran that link, a page would appear stating that an email had been sent. So, all I need it for the input to get placed into the URL without all of the additional characters. The report cannot run when the URL looks like the above and thus cannot get emailed. Also, that link probably won't work since the site is password protected, so you'll likely get a 'page cannot be displayed' error if you try to access it. Solution is likely simple, then again, my luck would have it not being so simple! I thank you all in advance for your help. At least a point in the right direction would be nice. whoa that is indeed funky. Does removing the double back slash do anything? can the program get a variable? You might be able to get away with it if you store the url as a variable. but i'm not so sure about. I'm in the process of writing a blog (writing the php, not the content - yet) and I have hit a problem submitting links to digg. I have the appropriate code to produce a link thus: Code: <a href="http://www.digg.com/submit?phase=2&title=Test%20Gallery&url=http://www.tommedley.com/india/gallery.php?album=1&title=Test%20Gallery"> <img border=0 src="diggit.gif" alt="Digg It"></a> However as you can see Digg gets confused by the &title my page needs on the end of the url. I tried replacing that & with & but that still didn't work, Digg just cuts off the end and only sees the ?album=1. Is there a way around this? Fred Hi all, Please could someone help this n00b Im a am using html <form> and radio buttons for users to select values. I have 3 pages. The user selects a value on the first page, is then directed to the 2nd page, where they choose another value. Is it then possible to display both these values on the 3rd page. I would like to do this without using javascript. Is it possible (&if so how) to pass a search parameter when linking through an iframe. Page A always wants to load a suppliers catalogue in an iframe with the search field filled - same fill every time (so if it is possible there are no complications). Unfilled the address is suppliersite.com/search.asp The form on the suppliersite search page search page only has one field & search button Thanks sub Hey guys, I'm fairly new to programming web forms on my own. (I've used some Joomla/Mambo components that eased the process). I understand the basics of forms and what not, but was curious as to what the best way to pass variables from an email (pre-filled) to a form would be without using Server-Side Scripting of any kind. (I could easily write a PHP page to do so, but on this specific project I don't have access to any kind of scripting on the server side). I have thought about doing it one of two ways. The first way would be to write some Javascript that saves the fields I need as cookies and then calling those cookies back on the webform. The other way, was to pass the variables through the URL. I don't know if this is possible without Server-Side Scripting or not. I'm sure I could hack up some sort of Javascript code to read the URL and break it into the relevant variables but that seems like a lot of work for something so simple. Is there a way to use the GET method at all to pull those variables from the URL? Also, sorry for not posting this in the Client-Side Scripting forum, but I wasn't sure if there were other solutions to this problem that wouldn't require any scripting at all. Thanks Again, -Ian- I am trying to pass variables to a php script from a text link. This is how I was doing it: <a href="page.php?variable=something"> However, my question is: is there a way to do this so that the variables are NOT included in the URL? So the destination URL would be 'page.php', and not 'page.php?variable=something', but the variable would still be passed? THANKS! |
