HTML - Loading Pages In Pages?
This will be hard for me to explain so I will add an image:
http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=examplexu6.gif How do I go about loading a page within a page. For example, in the pic, if you clicked Cost it would load a page within the loading area without taking off to another location. I seen it on a site before, i remember the links were something like "/?p=cost" or something like that. And the page appeared to not navigate elsewhere, the cost page was just loaded within the page i was on. hope that makes sense, if so any examples on this? is it hard to do? messy? safe with most browsers? thanks Similar TutorialsHi Everyone, I am working on a website and I am having problems with some of my pages loading. I thought it might have been an error in the html code. I rechecked & found no errors. I even moved the pages around. I moved the ones that were working, into the slot of the page that would not load. It loaded fine. When I click the page in the file. It displays properly at the top and everything. But when I try to access it from another page, it will not load. I get a white page that says this page can't be displayed. Here is the area I am having problems with. Suicide Memorial Garden
Infant Memorial Garden
Military Memorial Garden
Public Service Memorial Garden
Pet's Memory Garden
The first and 4th pages are the only ones that work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. john721 Hi There, First post Ive just redesigned my site in HTML and uploaded it to www.sibarber.co.uk Occasionally I find the front page (index) taking nearly a minute to load which is obviously far too long. Im at a loss to understand why. I use a fowarding source (Freeparking) to redirect visitors to my 'true' web address which is http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sibarber/ . Maybe this is part of the problem but my previous site at this was fine. Im not particularly HTML savvy, so if anyone can throw some light on the issue I would appreciate it. S How do I make variable pages? EG: ../showgame?id=10 So multiple pages can begenerated from one document. I'm currently making a new layout for my site and before it will go online, I want to set all my pages on a BRB page/status (customized with my own brb logo+text etc.. Anyway I can do this? If this is in the wrong section sorry, i have been thinking of adding a new page to my site and added sky sports, but how do i set up a page that opens another web page right away? Hi there, I am relatively new to wordpress and have just created undertaken a pro-bono project for a company in Iowa. The site is up and running, however I have noticed a pretty big issue when viewing in IE. The background seems to keep going after the content has finished and tiles the texture far down the page. You can see it online he http://www.localfoodsconnection.org/ I am using a bit of css trickery to get two images displaying in the background and think this might have something to do with it. This is the css I am using to do it: Code: html { background: #a79584 url(images/bg.jpg) center top; height: 100%; font-family: "Palatino", Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; } body { background: url(images/bg_grad.png) repeat-y center top; min-height: 100%; } #wrap { width:920px; margin:0 auto; min-height: 100%; padding: 0; } The site looks great in FF, Safari etc, so I guess it must be an issue with IE I would appreciate any help I can get on this one. Please feel free to let me know if you need any other info. Thanks in advance. James Hi, Currently my website is valid XHTML but I am planning on re coding the whole thing. I wanted to use HTML because to me it's a little easier and more basic. If I just start out with the html and head tags and no DOCTYPE and use the basic tags...do you think it would still work ok? I just dont want to go through the whole validation thing. I know other sites who use plain HTML without validating and their site works fine. Also I was wondering if it matters about uppercase tags? like < HTML > and < A > or < a > does caps make any difference? I guess I should probably just try it and then test it on major browsers to see for myself. Any advice would be appreciated! I just want to use plain HTML without worrying about validation....but I also want to make sure that people can use it on all different monitor sizes and browsers (at least all major browsers). I know thats the whole point of validation, but pretty much my question is: if I use plain HTML tags, including deprecated ones such as the < font > tag if it would still be usable on major browsers? I'm wondering because I've noticed that even though the W3C claims they are deprecated, some of them still work anyways? Sometimes I wonder if the W3C is right about that? Thanks! Is there any way to use an xml file and create a link to a new page that has information based on a block of data in the xml file? I have a website which is now closed. I have forwarded the domain (www.chineseteaforyou.com) to a page on my other hosted website (www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html) to explain it is now closed. If people type in the domain name of the closed site it works as I expect, and they land on the correct page. If they type in the address of another page on the old site, they get the "Not Found" message. For example: http://www.chineseteaforyou.com/site...30/page/543219 will be forwarded to the following page which does not exist: http://www.e-stores-online.com/chine...30/page/543219 I would like to redirect any forwarded pages with www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html/ as the first part of the URL to www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html I tried to do it with a .htaccess file but get errors. Can anyone help me do this? Thanks. I have a simple question here. I have about 30 pages for my website. All of them use the same default layout that I created (sidebar links, bottom links, background etc). How can I call the layout in each webpage without having to copy and paste the entire layout? The problem is that if I make a small change to the layout, I don't want to have to change it in each individual page but just the master layout page. Thanks. I am building my first big(ish) website and I have run into a little problem. The left side of the page is the same on every single page, along with the top. The only part that changes is the content of the center. There is also some things on the right that stay the same. I have the site looking and opperating fine, but when I need to make adjustments to the static parts of the site (top, left and right), I have to change every single page. Is there any way to just have one template and when you click on a link, it just changes the middle? I have tried iframes, but the left part of the screen needs to be able to scroll with the rest of the page. I want everything to scroll just like a normal webpage, but without having to change the menus on every single page. How is this possible? Thanks in advanced I test all of my pages on all of the most popular browsers. I believe that you can only have one version of IE installed per user account. I have IE6 running on one PC, and IE7 on another PC. Once IE8 becomes popular, I will test my pages on that too. Q. Can I have multiple versions of IE available on a single Windows XP PC? Do I need three PCs to run IE6-7-8? Q. How are you guys addressing this problem? I am having difficulty centering pages for Firefox and Chrome. Please view the source code of http://www.alicm.com. It centers fine in all versions of IE. Definitely need a little help. I am not very experienced, so any "before and after" pasting of coding would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ok. I know that there are codes for fading between pages, I used to use them ALL THE TIME when I used Piczo (blech!). My question is, do all or at least most browsers support that sort of code, and can I use it in a valid XHTML page? Or is it done with JavaScript? The only reason I'm asking is because I'm making a new site for my drum videos, and the welcome page has a really nice picture of a drum set (in black and white with a slight glow) with a white background, and if I faded to a blank page, then the homepage, I think it would look really nice. So again, is it valid XHTML, and do most browsers support it? I know in PHP you use PHP includes, but how do I do it in html? So I have one file with my navigation links, so it's easy to edit and update all pages? Also, same with copyright date at the bottom of the page? How can I make it so I don't have to edit eveyr page every year? Thank you. Hello everyone! This is my first thread, and I need some help. I just started developing my site hosted by godaddy.com and I am doing all my html and through dreamweaver and uploading new content through dreamweaver also via FTP. THANKS! Bill C. Hi, I have just started to get my feet wet in web development so please don't be annoyed if this is a little basic. I have a 12 page intranet site with links on each page. As these links are the same on all pages i would like to know if there is a way to update one file and include that on all pages. At the momment i am updating the links individually. Thanks for your help. Hi, I have a few pages that I would like to link together, these are all on my computer. What is the code to link them together? Thank you, Nick. Ok I'm really new to this so bear with me.. I just started my file hosting website, and I have a ****ton of videos.. I really don't want to create thousands of individual pages so that users could view the videos. Is there a simple way to view each video in a page with my logo on top, tabs on the side, etc. without creating tons of individual pages? (NSFW!) ex: - family unfriendly link removed - Hi everyone, Could someone help with a hyperlink problem I have please? I am currently working on our company website and am constructing some pages detailing the Health and Safety training we do. I have created a page which contains a link to a second page with the course dates on. Is it possible to then link from the page with the course dates to the previous page but I want to link the the bottom of the previous page. Is there a way to do this? Many thanks! Jess |
