HTML - 301 Code, Without .htaccess File For Htm To Aspx
Similar TutorialsOK, guys.... Why does my .htaccess file keep getting rewritten? I change the file back, and within a few days it gets changed again. Do I have something out of order? (the file is not active right now) I am trying to: 1) redirect all non-www to www (for the root directory main site) 2) redirect two specific pages to new pages and retain the link juice 3) not redirect two subdirectories that have other domains pointed to them (www.bigcountryacres.info points to the first and www.kidslovedrbarton.com points to the 2nd) The following code almost works. The two old .htm pages on the main site are redirected to their .html versions just fine. When going to a subdirectory, you can reach the index page the first time. Then if you link to a subpage and then go back to the home page link (just index.htm), it gets redirected to my main site instead. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong? It is a very basic, sort of old-fashioned website that relies entirely on html. What I'm trying to do is make a drop-down menu that will be used as navigation for a section of a website and I want to have it in each internally linked page in that section, but I'm going to be adding more pages to it over time so I want to be able to put the drop-down menu code in a separate text file and then substitute it into the pages that I make that the options in the menu link to and then just edit the code in the text file when I add another page so that I don't have to go back and edit the code every single individual page whenever I add a new one among them. Basically all I'm asking is how I can put html code in a text file and then substitute that code into an html page by referring to the file. Thanks in advance for any help. Hi guys - sorry for this dumb post but It's my first go at this. I am using a simple form to pull in a user name and add it to a URL. However, it is converting -]^ etc to HEX. code: <form name="input" action="http://www.eclive.org/shotdetails.aspx" method="get"> Username: <input type="text" name="user"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> If I input user name -]Sa^Bison it returns this: http://www.eclive.org/shotdetails.as...-%5DSa%5EBison I have tried method="post" and that does not even pass the input accross. If I type the URL in manually it works great and returns the results I want, as in http://www.eclive.org/shotdetails.aspx?user=-]Sa^Bison I know it's going to be obvious here but ... Any help appreciated!! I have a HTML form that truncates the action parameter after the "?" mark - which is NOT the desired behavior I am looking for. I simply want to open the referenced URL within the same viewport. Here is a representative HTML snippet: HTML Code: <form action="http://www.spufalcons.com/index.aspx?tab=gymnastics&path=gym"> <input type="submit" value="Gymnastics"/> </form> In this case, the submit button takes you to the "http://www.spufalcons.com/index.aspx" page, effectively ignoring "?tab=gymnastics&path=gym" parameter. It appears that URL's using HTML and PHP pages referenced in the action=URL work as expected BUT (alas) this is not the case when the target page contains index.aspx. This behavior is consistent across all major browsers (IE, FF, Safari, Chrome, Opera). Has anyone seen this problem before? Or can suggest an alternative and/or workaround consistent with my "pure" CSS/HTML/PHP web development approach? I have tried replacing the special characters with HTML entity values with no impact. I REALLY don't want to use abandon my CSS-styled submit buttons by using Javascript or button PNG's or image maps. First a bit of background; I use DVDProfiler to catalogue my DVDs. I have trailers for most of my films stored on my pc. In DVDP there is a notes window that can contain HTML. The data stored in this field is stored along with the film data so I have the code below in there which launches the trailer. This is fine, however, I need to use the notes section for something else so I need another option. DVDP also allows the use of HTML windows but these are independent of the film profiles so it would have to have the ability to read the path from the notes section or some other bit of data that identifies the film (ie the title or UPC) Anyone have any idea how this could be done? HTML Code: <A HREF=F:\TRAILERS\2Fast_2Furious_720p23.976_51_6.5Mbps.wmv>Play Trailer</A> what is the HTML code to view an Excel or Word file on a webpage??? thanks, ### Hello there, I have a html page that has links to files on it,, when a user clicks on a file it comes up asking for them to save, open or cancel. is it at all possible to add code to this line <a href="ChainELinkClient\dotnetfx.exe" class="1">Install .NET Framework 1.1</a> to make it so it will automatically open,, instead of asking for those options? My new webcam server sends a jpg file to my website just fine. But the filename is numeric with a jpg file extension. The webcam server waits the required time and then sends another jpg to my website. The problem is that the numeric file name is different and does not overwrite the existing file like my old webcam server used to do. So I end up with a number if jpg files in the directory with numeric filenames with the jpg extension. I need some code that will load the "latest jpg file" by date and time into my html page. Here is how I used to do it when the pic.jpg file was sent to my site and it overwrote the existing file. <head> <title>Mike's WebCam</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"> <script language="Javascript"> <!-- function refreshCam(){ rfsh = new Date() ; rfsh = "?"+rfsh.getTime() document.images["webcam"].src = "pic.jpg"+rfsh setTimeout("refreshCam()", 240000) } //--> </script> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#080000" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"> <b><font size="3" face="Arial"><p align="center">Mike's Webcam</p></font></b> <center><img height="480" alt="The View" src="pic.jpg" width="640" border="0" name="webcam"></center> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- if( document.images ) refreshCam(); //--> </script> </body> </html> I am hoping that there is a way to load the new numeric filename jpg into my html by selecting the "latest" jpg by date and time stamp. Thanks in advance Mike Hello, I just started working at a company and they have a website that was partially completed by someone else and have hired me to complete and make changes to it. It seems that most of the website was created in Wordpress, but some of it seems to be done by hand-coding. The website is at http://www.executivetravellink.com/ I was able to get the company's FTP information which shows me all of the files that are on the site and I can easily transfer over locally to work in say Dreamweaver for example. They want me to make some changes to the navigation bar up top where it has links to the Hotels, Flights, Cruises, etc. From looking at the code in the index.php file, which leads to other files, I wasn't able to figure out which file to open in order to make those changes. I'm not sure if this is possible, but from looking at the source code, would someone be able to know the answer to that? Any information that someone could give me would be certainly much appreciated. Thank You! Hi, When I open an HTML with my browser to see how it looks, instead of what the code should look like showing showing up, the code itself shows up. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm quite new to HTML. I use Dreamweaver CS5. This is the code I used: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"> <html> <body> <h1>My First Heading</h1> <p>My first paragraph.</p> </body> </html> I want to play streaming songs on my website. can anybody give me the html code so that I can play the songs randomly automatically. My two URL of asx files are http://www.playlist.com/playlist/17180213515/asx and http://www.playlist.com/playlist/17174690571/asx Each link is a playlist contains more than 200 mp3 songs. I want to play them such that songs in each link as well as links can shuffle automatically.please reply as soon as possible. I have this task as part of an HTML class project. It has to be done using the <embed> tag, and must repeat a wav file twice (playing it three times total). This is the code I'm using: <p> <embed src="background.wav" width="145" height="100" hidden="true" autostart="true" playcount="3" loop="3" /> </p> It doesn't loop at all in firefox, and in IE it loops constantly. If I remove the loop="3" attribute, it works properly in IE. Is there any way to get this working across browsers using the embed tag, or would a more complex method be needed? (such as javascript browser detection with browser specific code). I'm really stuck on this, any help would be really appreciated. Okay I want to make a .htaccess file but dont know where to start.. the tutorials on the net leave me way past confused.. I want it to be a 403 forbidden error message! any help ? I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but here it goes. I have renamed a directory. To help with confusion I have decided to setup a .htaccess file in the old directory to redirect anyone who goes there by mistake. Old: bigdogcattle.com/?=Cattle/ New: bigdogcattle.com/?=Show-Cattle/ I am able to setup the file to work when someone types in: bigdogcattle.com/Cattle/, but not when they type in bigdogcattle.com/?=Cattle/. Can someone help? Thanks Jamie Hello, I have finished my website (about ~95%, only few things left to do and one of them - .htaccess). Created .htacces with content: Code: deny from all ErrorDocument 403 /403.html and puted in folders. Ex. Lets say i have these fodler's: gg nobody templates I wanna block access to templates folder, so putted .htaccess inside. Everythink work good, but let's say templates have inside folder: tpl So, full path templates/tpl. Putted inside .htaccess file too, but these problem: 403.html file loading, but not images. My files: 403.html and folder err with content: error.png and favicon.ico It's possible to make work 403.html from any folder in root, because now if there two or more folder images doesn't loadin. I'm new here so if I break any rules or post in wrong place please tell me. Basically I have a login system setup using .htaccess and .htpasswd. Is there any way to make a registration form so that when someone registers it automatically adds their username and password to the .htpasswd file? Thanks in advance Matt I have about 300 files in the format gb3aa.htm, gb3ab.htm, gb3zz.htm etc in my root directory and I want to redirect users to /newdirectory/gb3aa.htm etc If I put 300 entries in my .htaccess file such as: redirect /gb3aa.htm http://www.mydomain.com/newdirectory/gb3aa.htm it would work fine, but there must be a smarter way of doing this? I did try: RedirectMatch gb3(.*)\.htm$ /newdirectory/gb3$1.htm but this did not work. So, what is the smart way of achieving this please? hey... i didnt know what forum to post this in, so admins, do what you want with this thread... I've recently taken over the web designing for a company... the site is already made, and the previous designer has dropped out, and the company needs me to make updates, add articles, etc. There are .htaccess files in almost every directory and subdirectory throughout the site. When I go to add an image, and make a link to it on a page, the image is not found, even though the source is correct. ex - initially, the page links to an image at "images/image1.jpg" . I make an image2.jpg, place it in the right folder, and try to link to it - "images/image2.jpg" but the image cannot be displayed on the site (says it cannot be found - same as a 404). I am assuming this has to do with the htaccess permissions and all that stuff (also in each directory is a "_notes" subdirectory and another directory like that) but I'm not sure. I wikipedia'd htaccess files, and read that they were made for apache servers... the server hosting the site I am working on uses IIS... another confusing problem. Is there anyway to edit these .htaccess files so that I can add more images to the site? Also, why cant I see images these 'blocked' images? Is there any way to disable this blocking? |
