Reason is due to my website being displayed correctly in IE but when switching to Firefox the site suddenly breaks apart. Any ideas? Dont know if it is the right forum place I have html links on my web site. These links are to files. Recently when i clicked the link, the file "open / Save" dialogue appears, but now i receieve a page can not be displayed. Right click save as works i.E 7, What could be causing this Regards, Alan Hey guys, I'm trying to use submit buttons to display different websites in an iframe (or maybe I could use css?) What I'm basically trying to do is display different SQL databases when you click different buttons. So the code in the website in the iframe will just display the database. Thanks Hi there I'm trying to make a website for a friend - http://wwwdev.cfpaddler.co.uk. At the top of the site is a 1x40 pixel (WxH) GIF - a horizontal gradient - that is told to have a width of 100% so that it takes up the entire width of the browser window, regardless of resolution. I want to put a 250-pixel-wide JPEG immediately to the left of this GIF and then make the GIF take up the rest of the space available. I tried setting the GIF width to 100% again but it puts the JPEG on the top line and then stretches the GIF across the entire window just beneath it. I'd be happy to use PHP (although I'm a beginner at it) to maybe detect the user's browser window width (if it's possible?) then perform a calculation to find what 100% width minus 250 pixels is... Any suggestions are very much appreciated; thanks for taking the time to read this. Chris Images in question are http://wwwdev.cfpaddler.co.uk/images/top_border.gif and http://wwwdev.cfpaddler.co.uk/images/top_logo.jpg. Hi, Quite some time ago I was faced with putting a website together for the first time for a local community group (my wife nominated me!). Rather than tell you all what it contains and how it looks, it is probably easier for me to give you the link which is the Friends of Clifton Park based in South Yorkshire, UK. This website consists of eight html pages. The first is the index, second is the welcome page and the rest are linked pages via links on the left. On every of the "linked" pages, only the main body changes, with the exception of each link showing in Caps and link disabled. The problem I'm having is that every single one of the linked html pages are the same, except the displayed text. 90% is the page set-up. So my question is: Is it possible to "import" the required text information when a link is clicked on straight into the main body of ONE html page? btw, you'll notice that the page height isn't fixed, it expands depending on amount of information in it. I have tried IFRAME but don't really seem to be getting anywhere as I can't seem to make the height auto-adjust. A specified height value has to be entered for each "page". This is no good as more information will be needed to be put on. So basically what I am trying to do is: Keep the index.html Change the welcome.html to display the main page (graphics/images, etc) Import text into main body into the welcome.html page when a link is clicked on. Thus reducing the need of duplicate html pages and just having text files containing the main body text. The main reason for wanting to do this is a) stop all the duplication of page set-up in each html file, and b) make it easier for the guy that wants to add information where needed, straight into notepad (txt file) and upload it to the website. I hope all the above makes sense and if anyone requires further information, I will only be to happy to provide it! Thank you. I think I have the same problem, I am setting up a site offering bands a personal page on a local music scene website. the band's page is displayed in a frame when I have created a page for the band i want to offer them a url to directly link to their page but still show the entire frameset (index.html) what would this url be or how woul i go about creating it? would really appreciate the help, cheers! Luke Hi...I am looking to create a vertical solid bar, in an HTML table. But it's not displaying right in Firefox! In IE it's fine...I want the bar to go to 100% of the
cell. Here is what I have:

bluepixel.gif is a 1x1 pixel GIF file. Basically I'm creating a vertical colored version of a
tag. Again...in IE it fills out 100% of the height. But Firefox only shows a 5x5 square...no matter how big the browser is resized. Any ideas?? Thanks! Jason Below are the two sites I will use to explain my problem. For reference, I used Mozilla Firefox 3.08 and Google Chrome 1.0.154.53 in my tests. Example 1: http://www.irishbyname.com/example1.htm Example 2: http://www.irishbyname.com/example2.htm When browsing the site in a browser other than Internet Explorer, example 1 and example 2 center to different locations on the page. In example 1, I set the height of the content area to be 200 px tall. In example 2, I set the height of the content area to be 500 px tall. When I have example 1 open in one tab and example 2 open in another, I can alternate between the two tabs and see a visual difference in alignment. The HTML code on both pages is exactly identical with the exception of the height of the content area. Can anyone tell me why the horizontal page center changes based on the height of the page? Can anyone tell me how to change my HTML to make certain the page centers correctly no matter how tall the page is? Thanks for your help in advance. Hello, Could someone help me making the twitter box to display fully at www.greek-concierge.com For some reason it works fine when I preview this on my pc but when I view this online the bottom of the box is cropped in all browsers I have tested. many thanks Andy it sounds stupid, but i have a problem with a page that inspired me to ask about it Hello, I want to understand the best way to make the height of my page change depending on the content. I know that I can partly accomplish this with tables, but tables have an even number of rows and columns. My page looks like this... .................Title................... ______________________ |.....|..............................| |Nav|...........Content........| |.....|..............................| |.....|..............................| |___|_________________| .............FOOTER............... Its very basic, but this is my current road block. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thank you in advance! Hi. What is the best way to make something, lets say a table or a div for example, span the entire height of the page? I don't have any example code i'm just asking for future reference. Please ask if you need more detial or don't understand what i'm talking about. Thanks in advance for any replies. Is there anyway to make a container DIV LAYER that contains multiple other layers to extend just as far as its contained layers vertically? By this I mean, can you set the height of a div layer to extend to the bottom of the page instead of stopping exactly at where that layer's content stops? I know I could always set the height to a fixed high number, but I don't want all that extra scroll space at the bottom. I've made an example page to better explain what I mean: http://www.willamette.edu/~nsawir/tester222.html See how the white background with black side borders (this is my container div layer) only goes as far as the black text? This black text is the content of that one div layer. The white background and black borders do not extend down to where the red text reading "THIRD LAYER OF ITEMS" (this would be my third div layer) is. I would like the white background/black border of my container layer to extend to the very bottom of the page, where ever it may be (and no further). Is there any way around this??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! hello Every can any one tellme How can i make a webpage open in Fixed height and Width which is to be opened by a Hyperlink Example : like when you click On MORE link From The Smilies in this Forum it open a Small Window Resizeble Window Hi im aware how to fit the width of a page so it fills the browser window but im curious on how to set the height of the page? the width works perfectly and just the height im stuck with The layout of this page I'm making requires a centered table, 800 pixels wide and 100% high. I am having huge problems making it fill the entire height of the page though, it just stops rather than going right to the bottom of the page. It's a 4.01 transistional compliant page if that's relevant. Here's a link to the page. Here's a link to the page (apologies for the file size) link to page I want the dark green center section, and the two side cells with tiled graphics to extend right down to the bottom of the page, regardless of height. The center table with the graphics can stay where it is or vertically center, I don't mind about that. I also need it to have no vertical scrollbar when it's viewed fullscreen. If I remove the doctype, it works fine, but I'm wondering if there's a way to have it vaild for that doctype and still look ok? I've tried everything I can think of and am not turning up anything useful with web searches, if anyone can tell me where I've gone wrong and if this is possible to fix in html, I'd really appreciate it. I can't use CSS, and the doctype has to be as it is, because that's what the specs say (it's for an html class). Thanks for any help. I really don't know much about html and I could use some help here. http://www.hazlethawks.com/hawks/cheer_news.asp there should be a link on the left menu that says "loud and proud" but it doesn't show up in firefox. IE works fine. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Hello. =) On one of my webpages, I want to link to a specific page in a PDF file. I can't get it to work in Firefox for some reason, and I haven't found the answer online. I used this in Internet Explorer, and it worked just fine: http://www.mysite.com/doc2.pdf#page=6 Is there a way to do the same thing in Firefox? I hope someone can help; thanks in advance! I have been working on a site, and I have recently changed over the menus from JavaScript to CSS, the problem is, the site looks completely different when I view it in Firefox as oppose to IE, the menus hide under pictures, extra white space and the bullets are visible. I have attached 2 images of how the site looks in IE as oppose to Firefox Thanks |
