HTML - Ie Doesnt Display Like Firefox / Safari
My site works in Firefox and Safari just like I want it to, but when IE tries to read it, the divs and images get spaced out and wrapped around AND it is not centered on the page like it should be... what is my coding flaw?
www.nativboardriding.com check it out in firefox or safari to see how it SHOULD be displayed, then open it with IE. Thanks, Levs Similar TutorialsSafari doesnt display html site as it should be, instead Safari shows just the html code...: what can i do? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta content="de-ch" http-equiv="Content-Language" /> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <title>Ohne_Titel_1</title> </head> <body> <p>TEST</p> <img src="http://blabla.com/image.jpg" /> </body> </html> This is just a sample html code, and its saved as .html file on the server... so what could it be? (the main page is displayed correct by the way...) Thank you very much! Anyone know what the problem is. My website works perfect in internet explorer. But when I type in the web address in safari, the page loads all the code, not the website. I'm guessing it has something to do with this code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> Any suggestions? Is it this or something else maybe? hello I wanted to make a pop up window for a link: so i put this btw <head> and </head> Code: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- var win=null; onerror = stopError; function stopError(){ return true; } function o1281309901(){ myleft=(screen.width)?(screen.width-874)/2:100;mytop=(screen.height)?(screen.height-622)/2:100; settings="width=874,height=622,top=" + mytop + ",left=" + myleft + ",scrollbars=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=no,dependent=no"; win=window.open("http://www.christianwalser.com/videoplayer","",settings); win.focus(); } // --> </script> and then this btw <body> and </body> for the link to open the pop up: Code: <a href="javascript:o1281309901();">LINK It works fine with IE but not with other browser like Safari and FF: --> Its then resizable and the height and wheight arent correct anymore Thank you very much for your help Hi all Firstly I’m a repeat newbie... I had a brief spell with a mate doing web things in 2000, playing comand and conquer most of the time over a network, we were poor but we had fun...blimey things have changed, in many ways!! I've put together a web site using a trial version of dreamweaver but the problem is that although it displays fine on all my machines at work and at home, the client (friend really) gets a muddled view on her laptop... Like the screen shot. !! I’ve run the compatibility and validator on dreamweaver and it seems ok. I’ve also run the address through w3.org validator and it seems ok. The adress is www.julietbidwell.co.uk Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Phil PS – note to self I must stop saying I’ll have a go at stuff for people!! I created a template with photoshop and saved into 1024 x 768 and worked it with front page. when i opened it in firefox the site is apearing at the left side of the window even if i edited in front page to be shown in the middle. In explorer it works just fine. ANy ideas please? Hi the page in question is this one Removed, as I dont think advertising is allowed?, so i removed the link For me it renders perfectly in Firefox 3 However i noticed that in IE7, dont know about IE6 it sticks the whole page on the left, as if there were no formatting or .css file, this cant be true because Firefox renders it fine and the text is all in relation ot the .css file So please can someone help me with this, it is in PHP, but only a line really Chris Hi, I have a site that loads fine on Chrome and IE. Don't see a section of it on Safari or Firefox. Page comes up blank. its supposed to show flash object. The site is kidsooda.com The section page that does not work in Safari and FF is kidsooda.com/inside/#/contact If you have any ideas I'd really appreciate it. THANK YOU !! I have a simple slide over menu for navigation in a div. Safari and Firefox both work. ON IE it's shifted over to the right a little more and the slide over menus wont appear. Any options? ref: www.nofocusprototype.com/vanallen When viewed in FireFox, Opera and Camino, the menu bar and video footer are both perfectly aligned with the video box. In Safari and Chrome, however, the menu bar and the footer are a few pixels off plus the footer is separated from the bottom of the video box by a 1 or 2 pixel space. I could naturally adjust the menu bar and footer to display properly in Safari and Chrome, but then they would not display properly in the other browsers. This is certainly a Catch-22 situation. Anyone know a fix for this? BTW, I note that many people have display issues with Safari--one Apple rep told a questioner to get FireFox! ref: www.nofocusprototype.com/vanallen When viewed in FireFox, Opera and Camino, the menu bar and video footer are both perfectly aligned with the video box. Our organization's webpage was created in Dreamweaver, with some additional javascript and html code added by an intrepid staff member with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. The page displays properly in Internet Explorer and Firefox for Windows, as well as Firefox and Netscape for Mac. However, the page displays a white screen in Safari. The page is loading, because the page title displays, and it is possible to view the source code for the page using the "View --> View Source" menu option. But none of the page content shows up. I did not find any relevant help in the Safari forums on the apple page, so I'm wondering if this is a simple coding problem that I don't know enough to ferret out. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The website address is http://www.buttecounty.net/bclibrary Thanks, Derek I am having display problems in Safari (3.1.1). All other browsers installed in my computer show the site correctly: Opera 9.21 Chrome 1.0.154.43 IE 7.0.5730.11 Here is the page: http://www.shootthehead.com/safari.htm Any help is appreciated. So, I have a web site I have inherited, not coded... and I know nothing about html/css etc! One string, a telephone number, should show in black, but in Safari it shows up in white (it is fine in all other browsers). However, if I change the string to text, it displays fine, so it only numbers that show up in white! Help - I have no idea what is causing this!? I've attached the html, and the relevant css for the page... I'm sure this is dead easy for someone who knows what they're doing! Thanks, in advance for your help, James Hello, my problem is simple, my code works in Safari and Firefox but does not work in Internet Explorer. The code is supposed to open up my other site inside a frame when visiting drewandjess.net. Works perfectly except with IE... it just displays some text that should be commented out. Any advice would be appreciated! Right well i have an swf file and it's playing fine in safari but not in firefox - the place where it's supposed to be is just blank. Any ideas? http://www.absolute-websites.com/portfolio#animation Here is the code: HTML Code: <object id="peepShow" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" data="video/peep_show.swf" width="550" height="400"> <param name="movie" value="video/peep_show.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high"/> </object> Solved by myself. The opening page for a site I am developing does not display correctly in Safari or Chrome, but does in Firefox and IE7. It passes the w3c validation. Not sure what I have missed? site Todd Hi everyone, I have been working on a website here www.ds-installations.co.uk/examples.html. I am nearing the end of design/development but I have a weird display bug in Chrome and Safari. For some reason, the content displays off to the right of the main page? I have checked all the code through the W3C CSS and HTML validators and it all seems fine. I have tested in IE6+, FF and Opera which seem to work fine? I would really appreciate any help on this, I have been looking and tweaking for hours to try and fix it and I can't see anything obvious? Thanks very much in advance for any help! Dan Hi Everyone- I'm hoping someone out there might be able to solve a problem I've been having with my site for a number of years. The site was designed for IE but with the growing popularity of Firefox and Safari (to name a few), I want to insure that it works properly with those browsers. For the most part, it does -- except when displaying a background image in a table. For example - look at this page: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/...anentwaves.php When viewed in I.E., the grey background image with the woman displays properly, as does the full image of the album cover within. However when viewed in Firefox or Safari, the background image repeats near the bottom for about 20 pixels. The problem also exists on a page like this one: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/lyrics.php Where the brown background image which includes the words "Rush Lyrics" displays properly in I.E. but seems to repeat for 20 pixels in FF. This one's been driving me crazy for years and, due to some recent changes I've been making, it's come back to haunt me. If anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening and what I can do to remedy it, I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks so much.
