HTML - Question About Div Tags In Dreamweaver Cs3

I have code similar to following: Code: <div id="mydiv"> <span id="myspan"> <p>Some <em>text</em> here</p> <p>Some more text here</p> </span> </div> If I select the word 'text' in Design view and make it not-emphasized/Italics, the code changes to: Code: <div id="mydiv"> <p><span>Some text here</span></p> <span> <p>Some more text here</p> </span> </div> So it's decided to remove the id attribute from the span and move the span inside the paragraphs, and since there's two paragraphs, there's an extra span as well. The result is the same even if the span is outside the div. Even if the code is wrong, why is dreamweaver fixing it when I'm just trying to do something unrelated. (The em tag is not the only one that causes this to happen.) Hi. Can anybody tell me the best way of adding a <div> to loads of pages that I have made without a template. I need to add a <div> to the top of every page I have built on a site (approx 250 pages) Basically I need to add a "back to index" link!!! Leroy Hi, I hope I am posting this in the right place. I would like to insert the <h> tags to headings & sub headings in certain areas of a web page. But if I place the <h> tag next to the word or phrase that is relevant, it increases the font size. Am I ok to have the code like below or will the SE’s read everything between the tags, including the code & confuse the whole thing. Its just a case of wanting to not have the text as large as some of the <h> tags want to make it. <center><h1><font face="arial" size="3" color="000000"><b>My text here</b></font></h1></center> Hope you can help! So I was wondering what are all the different META Tags and what do they do? I'm not sure if I'm using them correctly or not. I'm designing a website and for the first time using div tags. The style is controlled by CSS. I'm trying to get 2 div tags to be positioned next to each other, side by side. How do I do this, I just can't get it to work. Thanks I have both <div id="images"></div> and <form> on the right column of my page. I want to overlap the two of them, because the form is hidden so that when the viewer clicks on "contact us" the images div will disappear then the form appears, through behaviors. But the form is below the images div tag, so when I click on contact us, the images disappear, but the form appears on the bottom of the image div tag, its suppose to take the place of the images div tag instead. _________ I've designed a web page using WebEasy and I'm going to have to insert the meta tags manually. Thanks I have created a drop down selection list using PHP that will allow users to create the elements of the selection list and organize them them under user defined catagories, by typing the names of the catagory and entry into fields and clicking a button to add them to the list. By clicking on the entries on the list the user will be able to cause user defined actions to be performed. Just as an example, the user could create the following drop down selection list: Car manufacturers Ford Mercedes Honda Motorcycle manufacturers Harley Davidson Suzuki Honda The problem comes when I try to allow the user to delete an entry by clicking on it and then clicking a delete button.] As you can see from the example above, the word "Honda" appears under two optgroup catagories. If the user clicks on the second one, there is currently no way for the PHP script to distinguish which "Honda" entry they mean. In fact the script would go through the list and delete the fist one it comes across, which is the wrong one. How can I send the value of the optgroup that an entry is listed under along with the entry itself, so that they script can identify which entry the user is clicking on? I tried some tags in the optgroups but they don't seem to get sent to the server. i'm looking for a cheap way out of making collapse/expand code. i've learned a lot of 'ghetto' techniques n thought mayb i can use something similar to the html tricks i've learned in the past. the theory i have is.. i use the title of the collapse/expand text as a link to the text below it to open and close by using the navigating tags: Code: <a name="content">opening/closing text here</a> and the title above the content: Code: <a href="#content">Title</a> to open the area of text. now my idea of a shortcut around the whole css/html/javacript combo is to make the text below it use a Code: <font size=0>content</font> at default and have the href title link change the font size to the default 9pt but I don't know if that's even possible. Is it possible with the Code: <div> tags? and if so, using that, would i still b able to make a link like that? Is it possible to trigger the action of a form with a submit button that's outside the form tags? If so, how should this example be rescripted to make the input tag work outside the form tags? Can't remember how I did this the first time: I need some jpg images to go into my images folder. I created a folder for my website on my hard disk (local root folder)...and I defined my site on Dreamweaver, with an image folder....but when I try to add images to the folder, it won't accept them on Dreamweaver. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I have a site and the spry menu bar won't go all the way across the screen. anyone know why? can you please give a site or link where can I download dreamweaver? Does anyone feel like this? I mean, maybe i just don't know how to use DIV in Dreamweaver, becuase i've been doing it all by hardcoding by hands. becuase when i try to align a div to the right or left, there is no button in the property that lefts me do it, so i have to get into the code and change it. and when i do use it, seems like the only feature to use is "layers" ( i think this "is" div ). so currently i'm thinking that dreamweaver is built for tables. is this correct? Shoot, now i feel like i've spent so much money and now is barely using the program anymore( execpt for the typing tool tip). As of right now there is no third tutorial but I would still like continue developing my website. Currently the code represents the lay out of sliced up images for the web banner and some map tags surrounding the locations of where a button would link you to something else. When you are using dream weaver for a website, do you have to install it onto the server I was going to use it because I think it's a nice layout for HTML coding. |
