HTML - Html Noob - Can Not Get Images To Display
I just started learning HTML, and made a file just to try out the various things I have learned. The below is said file. When I attempt to view it my picture does not appear, and I don't understand why.

Like what if i wanted to put it between left and center so align wouldnt work. The only way i know is using the whole   but then my code is absolutly cluddered with that. I checked out code for some other sites like video game ones. I oculdnt understand it lol but i didnt see mass abouts of non breaking spaces. Please help Hello, Im new to the site and the whole html/css thing ;p So please excuse me if I come off as a complete noob ^^; Anyways, I designed my own layout in PS CS2 and sliced it, then imported it to frontpage to finish coding it. Everything was fine and dandy up until I tried adding some links to my navigation bar. It stretched the layout along with it and vice versa. when adding too much text in the content section it stretched out the nav and makes it look hidious. Here's a screenie explaining my situation. Here is my website so far, keep in mind two days ago I had no knowledge of HTML coding and its where it is now through hours of working through the code and I have come across some errors I cannot solve on myself. Website Link: http://www.qrpm.site90.net/INDEX.HTML First problem is, Ive installed all files into my directory of where the website is and stil using just http://www.qrpm.site90.net will not work it just brings up all the files I have uploaded to my server but placing /INDEX.HTML on the end will bring up my website, that is problem one that I would like to address. Problem two is that if you click on my Index page you will see Buttons on the left hand side of the page going down but I want to position these buttons along the top I can get them along the top but then they become dead links and wont foward my browser onto my other pages on my website I have no idea how to Fix this at all Any help would be really appreciated thank you Rob. Hey all, I still consider myself a novice in html and especially CSS. I know basic, basic html like how to write paragraphs and line breaks and embed videos and write meta tags. I know virtually no CSS However, I would like to learn more advanced techniques. Any suggestions for straightforward sites or videos or programs that I can look up? I have been looking at w3schools.com a little bit and I use notepad++ for an editor. Anyway, any suggestions would be awesomely appreciated. Thanks guys! so i have recently begun learning to write HTML, and are trying my hands on designing a website, but i have a problem, i need a thumbnail-list instead of showing the whole picture. what i have done so far is arrange smaller versions of the full picture in a table, and have each picture link to a separate page with only that picture on in full size, but i don't want to have to manually design a page for every picture. any suggestions as to how i can get around that? for instance would opening a blank page with specified color, style, picture placement and all that, be possible to make from the thumbnail list itself? so that the browser opens a blank page, reads the spesifications from the link that opens the new window, and shows that one picture big? it's really aggravating having to make a separate page for 40-50 pictures... any help would be greatly apreciated. Hello all, I really want to revamp my theme that I use on my Tumblr blog and I figured you'd be the ones to help. I'm computer literate, both Mac and PC, but I know nothing of coding. I ashamed to say this, but nevertheless I'm willing to learn a little if any of you will hold my hand through some changes I'd like to make to my Tumblr theme. Here's a link to my Tumblr page. As you can see, it's a default theme. The list of things I'd like to do is a little jagged, but I really want all my pictures to have a limit to their size and how much space they can take up. Also, I'd to know how to remove the visual tags on the left hand side. As if that's not enough adding a display of how may "notes" (for those who are tumblr literate) my posts have. Font too. How do I even begin changing these things? There are no options in the simple customize pane displayed at the top. But, I can edit the HTML... so what do I do? There's a section called 'About Me' and I can fill it with information about myself (it supports html). But the problem is that there is a 5000 character limit and I well exceeded that. All right, I've stumbled upon a bit on a design block. I'm not sure what I want to do to display images. I don't know if I want to do a gallery...or just have thumbnails and then you click on them to view a larger image...I just don't know what I want to do. Hi, I have this msql database containing images, when user enter a query, the program needs to display images back, what is the usual practice for this kind of task? copy all those images to a folder and refer to them with img tag? delete all of them later? care to share some of your tips? In the following code, the image display is inconcsistent: - Firefox: works in all cases - IE7 over Internet: works - IE7 locally: image does not display; I get a placeholder. - IE7 locally on my other computer: works. By "locally", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on my local hard disk; by "Internet", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on the server at my web site service. a span has display none and and a:hover span has display block. What I want to know is does the larger image load with the whole page or does it only load when you hover on the link. I.E. does having loads of hidden images effect page load time? Thanks Hi all, I'm helping a friend out with his website but have come across a bit of an issue which I think may be related to the web server itself although I'm sure there's a way round it? http://www.pixelrite.co.uk/completed/ Basically my friend wants to be able to upload images that he has worked on into this folder so people can then browse to the above url and simply download the images they want. I used to have a similar thing on an old site of my own which was just a load of files I had uploaded into a folder, anyone could then download them from there. I suspect it's some sort of server side security implemented by the host... is there some way to insert a very basic index.html page into the folder that somehow would show any files that were currently in that folder allowing someone to right click and download them? Thanks in advance! Hello, I have designed sites in the past but am in need of some assistance. I am designing a website for an artist who wants to be able to offer his clients fine art prints for sale. He needs to be able prints with several different product options; i.e. canvas print with 1" stretch, 2" stretch and framed prints. I want to be able to offer check boxes (or equivalent) that will display an image of the different product options available. If the 1" stretch check box is checked I need an image of a canvas on a 1" gallery wrap frame to be displayed. If they click on the "frame" check box, I need an image of a framed painting to be displayed. What is the best method to use to accomplish this? I've researched and experimented but am at a bit of a loss. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm having a little bit of trouble with putting sliced images on my website and was wondering if you could help me out? I've made a very basic menu design in photoshop. I sliced the image using Photoshop then opened the resulting html file in Frontpage. When I opened the page in preview mode, the sliced images had moved slightly away from each other which is giving me gaps between the slices. Its also doing this when I view the page in a normal web browser, but not in photoshop Is this because I am using frontpage or could it be some kind of options setting in photoshop? Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum btw....Any help would be great Thanks |
