HTML - Noob - Alignments, Tabs, Formating
Hello I am creating a table of contents using the <p> tag for each title. Each title is clickable and takes you to a section of the website relative to the title clicked.
My problem is that I want everything to line up nicely and this is problematic using the <p> tag - for example: ARTICLE 1 - BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ARTICLE 10 - BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH I want to look like this. (Actually scratch that this forum suffers the same problem I get when trying it on my own site, but you can comprehend what I'm talking about =] ). I realize there are cheap fixes such as just adding a bunch of spaces and what not but it still doesn't work. I could explain why but just trust me it doesn't work. My idea was to just use a table with 2 columns: 1 column = ARTICLE # - 2 column = BLAH BLAH BLAH however I can't extend a clickable title across 2 columns. Also I should note that I'm using DRUPAL. Thanks for your time. Similar TutorialsHi all, I'm working on a website, and i'm trying to have it so that two pieces of text are aligned in a <td> one to the left and one to the right. However, no matter how hard i try I cannot get it to work! The closest i have got is to have both the texts in but it forces it to go on a line above. I won't post the url to the site unless someone asks, as I will probably be banned for spamming, but please help! Here's my code: HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="EN-GB"> <html> <head> <title>History Project - Home</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Data\pagestyle.css"> </head> <body> <!-- Start Navigation Board --> <div class="navboard"> <img src="Data\logo.png"> <p class="txt1"><a class="nav" href="\">Towns</a></p> <p class="txt1"><a class="nav" href="\">Life</a></p> <p class="txt1"><a class="nav" href="\">Entertainment</a></p> <p class="txt1"><a class="nav" href="\">Guilds</a></p> <p class="copy">© Copyright Joshua Wilkinson.</p> </div><!-- End Nav Board --><!-- Start page text --> <p class="txt2">Welcome!</p> </body> </html> And here's the css: Code: body { background-color:#660000; margin:0px; overflow:; } div.navboard { background-color:#9E0000; position:absolute; height:100%; width:126px; float:left; } p.txt1 { margin:0px; text-align:center; font-size:17; } a.nav { color:#000000; margin:0px; text-decoration:none; position:relative; } p.copy { color:#000000; font-size:10; text-align:center; } p.txt2 { color:#000000; font-size:18; margin-left:130px; float:right; } Now I want the lighter part to be on the left as it is, but then I want the text to be about 4px away from it at the top-left. But whenever I try to put it right, it all goes wrong. Anybody help? If you need me to answer a question, I'm subscribed to this thread. hi all, i have just written a book and am putting it online. i have some groovy buttons but want them to change when hovered over and also depress or change when clicked. can one of you experts give me the code for this pretty please. we could take it that: A.jpg = normal button B.jpg = when hovered (mouse over i think in your expert world) C.jpg = when clicked also i would like to know where and how the code looks to 'download XY.PDF' please help us on planet noobian, we are at a loss. Hello, I am designing a new layout for my myspace using an overlay. What this means is I had to put all the links back in, and put in everythign by hand because I was more or less bypassing myspace's built in tools. The only problem I have is that now I have my code put in place and it displays everything fine except that it is all shifted to one side just a little bit so I have this ugly white bar that runs up the left side because all the code is shifted just a little bit to the right, and some of the original page is showing under the overlay. I do not know if this means I need to shift the overlay to the left or the code that I put in for my layout. Either way I coudl use some help in figuring this out Also, right now I have the background color set on the whole page as black. When I take out the style code that does that it shows white on the edges and shows how the content is shifted. Here is a link to the myspace page I am using to test the code http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...3-ee1f6161935a And attached is my code I have a table with images and the table is well formated but after the table ends the contents are displayed beside it . The contents should display below the table... why is this?? What should i do to bring the contents below table?? Thanks I am needing to place my paragraph alongside my title.. I am using the following code..
Code: <div align="justify"><strong><font color="#306">TopicHere</font></strong><br />TextHere</div> The above is not giving me what I need, What I need is shown here .. What I need is here Thank You for your help David So I haven't done a site in some time, but I still got the very basic basics memorized. To guide me through my born-again virginity I tried a pre-built free web site. Everything was working great. I'd preview through Dreamweaver and the very basic site looked just fine. I now upload the site to the world wide web and parts of the HTML/CSS are not translating properly (in fact there are parts missing that should be there???). The first problem occurs in the section of the CSS called "PAGE". "Page" has a repeater called "img04" and "Page .bgtop" non-repeater called "img03_blue". "page . bgtop - img_03..." doesn't show up - but in preview it did. Any ideas on what's going on? Second, in the area tagged "MENU A" in the CSS the static background image called "img07_blue" doesn't show - again, in the preview it did, now nothing on the web. I assume its a similar issue to issue 1, but I don't know? This is for a web site my wife needs so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the site for reference. Thanks, J Hello Everyone, I know it's been forever since I made a post, but I ran into something I can't figure out on my own and I am hoping that someone here might be able to give me a hand. I recently spoke with a potential client that wants to copy a feature on another website: http://batchgeo.com/ as you can see, on batchgeo.com the end user can paste data from excel into the textarea field, then when the user clicks out of the textarea, it formats the data to look like it is in a table. Does anyone know how they are doing this? Thanks in advance for any help. -A hello everyone! I'm trying to edit a notification email for my blog and have most of it completed; however the only problem I'm having is that there is a gap between the menu-bg-2.png and the top of the table which I cannot get rid of. I'd like the table to be butted-up against menu-bg-2.png. When testing the html in firefox, it seems fine, but within an email the gap appears. Can anyone help? First time poster, hopefully this forum is a good starting point for this question. I am using a PHP script to upload some text to a MySQL database-field type is varchar. When the text is retrieved, it is displayed to the right of a embedded html video player. Retrieving the text and video, I also use a PHP script. But then I switch to "html mode" to display the video and text. In "html mode" I use a single row, 2 column table to display the video and text. What is happening is that the text is losing its line breaks. That is it is coming out as one long string of text. Since the text can be up to 1000 characters, that is one long string of text to no have any line breaks! Maybe it is something with the way MySQL stores the data. But if anyone has any thoughts on how to preserve the line breaks, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks. ~Robert Hi, I am having a problem with the formating of a search box inside a table. All I want is for the text field and submit button to sit exactly in the middle (vertically aligned) inside the table with an equal space above and below (table background is dark colour so very noticeable) In Dreamweaver, it looks fine until published - then there is a large gap below the text field and submit button but small space above. I basically am trying to get the space below the same as the one above. Take a look at the code to see what I mean. <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style2 { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 12px; } --> </style> <table width="540" border="0"> <tr> <td width="534" height="26" bgcolor="#666666"><form action="http://www.soundscalpel.com/search.php" method="get" name="form1" target="_blank" id="form1"> <label for="textfield"></label> <div align="right"> <span class="style2">Search for Sound Effects </span> <input type="text" name="q" id="q" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </div> </form> </td> </tr> </table> Hope someone can help Thanks hello ! I have a text fields and i want to display there a record of my database. the problem is that my sql record is not plain text, but has html formating. So when i display the data to the text field, it changes the appearance of my web page!! i have to find a way to display that html text as plain text and not as html code! can anybody help me please? thanks!! Hi There all, I have been looking around for tabs on the search engines. unfortunately all I can find is tabs with tabs . Below is 3 examples that I made with photoshop to give you an idea of what I am looking for. A tab type format without the tabs. The selector looks like a normal text type link line on top and on bottom but when the selected text is clicked it displays the content of the selected below/above (within the div box I think) it. I know that possibly <div>'s are involved but I have been struggling to figure out how to do this without the tabs that I see on the internet, and failed to design it so it looks like the images below. Can someone help me figure this out? Can this be done with just css or do I also need javascript as well?. As always, Thank you in Advance This might not be html at all, but how do you get the little icon on the page tabs on people's browsers (like the lightbulb on this page) ? Can't find the info anywhere. Thanks. Hi, i'm trying to design a page with tabs and i got it, but the problem is, i have menu on the top of the tabs and when the drop down menu comes it is been getting overlapped with the tabs. and how do i attache my html file in here. please any one help me. Hi, I am designing a website and i am trying to achieve the following text1 _________text2 ________________text3 only where the ____ are just white spaces is there any way of doing this without resorting to  's? CSS? Thanks Gary Hi I created two tabs form, my code is just on one page, my goal is to divide my page into two tabs, I created it using ASP web and it works just fine, my problem is when I change it to HTML. when I change everything to HTML and run it on I.E, everything appears on One Page not on two tabs as intended. Here is my code below: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head><link rel="shortcut icon" href="image/save.jpg" type="image/jpg" /><title> Home Page </title><link href="Styles/Site.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <title>EasyTabs Demo</title> <script src="../vendor/jquery-1.7.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../vendor/jquery.hashchange.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../lib/jquery.easytabs.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="thismust.js"></script> </script> </head> <body> <!--<form> --> <div id="tab-container" class='tab-container'> <ul class='etabs' style=""> <li class='tab'><a href="#CDD_page1">Page 1 of 2 Pages</a></li> <li class='tab'><a href="#CDD_page2">Page 2 of 2 Pages</a></li> </ul> <div class='panel-container'> <form name="form" method="post" action=""> <div id="CDD_page1"> <code> <fieldset><legend>DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE</legend> <table> <tr title="Brief Description of Change"><td class="style17"> Description of your Change Request <img src="req.gif" alt="Required" /> &nbs p; &n bsp; </td><!--<span title="Brief Description of Change">--> <td> <input name="BriefDescriptionofChange" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox1" style="width:168px;" /> </td><!--</span>--></tr> <tr title="Change Reference Number And The Change Type"> <td class="style17"> Change Number <img src="req.gif" alt="Required" /> </td><!--<span title="Change Reference Number And The Change Type">--> <td class="style3"> <input name="ChangeNumberType" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox3" value="" style="width:95px;" /> <select name="ChangeType" id="MainContent_DropDownList1" onchange="showEntry(this, this.value, 'Flare2')"> <option value="">-Select-</option> <option value="Flare">Flare</option> <option value="SR">SR</option> <option value="PAF">PAF</option> <option value="CR">CR</option> </select></td><!--</span>--></tr> <tr id="Flare" style="display: none;"> <td class="style17"> Hyperlink to Flare <img src="req.gif" alt="Required"/></td><td><input name="HyperlinktoFlare" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox2" value="" style="width:168px;" /></td> </tr> <tr id="Flare2" style="display: none;"> <!--<span id="Flare2" style="display: none;">--> <td class="style17"> Flare Priority <img src="req.gif" alt="Required"/></td><td> <select name="FlarePriority" id="MainContent_DropDownList2" onchange="changePriority(this.selectedIndex)" style="width:168px;"> <option value="">-Select-</option> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> <option value="4">4</option> </select></td> <!--</span>--></tr><!--</span>--> <tr title="Dependency"> <td class="style17"> Dependency<img src="req.gif" alt="Required"/></td><td> <input name="Dependency" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox4" value="" style="width:168px;" /> </td></tr> <tr title="Developer"> <td class="style17"> Developer <img src="req.gif" alt="Required" /> </td><!--<span title="Developer">--> <td> <input name="Developer" class="reqtext" type="text" id="Developer" value= "" style="width:168px;" /> </td><!--</span>--></tr> <tr title="Dependency"> <td class="style17"> Unit Tester <img src="req.gif" alt="Required" /> </td><!--span title="Dependency">--> <td> <input name="UnitTester" class="reqUnit" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox6" value= "" style="width:168px;" /> </td><!--</span>--></tr> <tr title="Developer"> <td class="style17"> Project Manager <img src="req.gif" alt="Required" /> </td><!--<span title="Developer"> --> <td> <input name="ProjectManager" type="text" id="MainContent_TextBox7" value= "" style="width:168px;" /> </td><!--</span>--></tr> </div> <div id="CDD_page2"> <code> <fieldset><legend>TEST STATUS AND REQUIREMENT</legend> <table class="style6"> <tr title="Is the COMPILED CODE and SOURCE CODE correct?"> <td class="style9"> SIT Test Status <img src="req.gif" alt="Required"/> </td> <td class="style10"> <select name="SITStatus" id="DropDownSIT" onchange="showSITtxtField(this, this.value)" style="width:168px;"> <option value="">-Select-</option> <option value="Not Applicable">Not Applicable</option> <option value="In Progress">In Progress</option> <option value="On Hold">On Hold</option> <option value="Signed Off">Signed Off</option> </select> </td> </tr > <!-- <span id="SITN/A" style="display: none;">--> <tr title="Is the COMPILED CODE and SOURCE CODE correct?" id="SITN/A" style="display: none;"> <td class="style11"> What testing was done?
