HTML - Some Frame Issues
I've been working on a site and just starting working with frames, I don't know a whole lot about HTML but there's so much stuff online about it that I've been getting by fine.
Anyways, I pretty much want every page on the site to use frames, with the same menu frame on the one side for every page and then different stuff on the right side for different pages. I did this for one page and it worked fine (the page is 20% menu and 80% home page), but when I tried doing it on a second page things got weird. The page is like 80% of the home page on the right side, and on the 20% side there are two frames, one being the menu and the other being the About section. Here's the page in question. I am using Dreamweaver 8 to develope my site. I have broken the page in three pieces(frames) So that the top frame shows the title, the left frame is for links that I want to show as flash movies in the right frame. I have studied the help file and I have looked on the web and I can't find an explanation that I can understand on how to do this. I need the top part of the page to remain stationary, and the bottom scroll underneath it - so that the top part of the page stays on stop of whatever the user is looking at. Most of my sites have a header image and a menu that I want to stay constant from page-to-page. Any ideas? hey guys, im looking for a way of cutting down the amount the visitor to my site has to download, as well and speed of loading betweens pages, ive attached an image of how to site looks so far, i have rows of links on eith side, on the top, and a row going down the center i wish to display in. If the user clicks on a link from anyside i would like only the center text to change and leave the links and header, saveing on size of the web pages on the server and the amount the user has to download i looked around and found frames would be an answer but there god dam confusing and it seems they come attached with a scroll bar where as i would like the page to simply feed downwards is there any way of keeping the outer part like a template and like i said just have the links replace the text with what ever the topic? At the minute I have only managed to make the horizontal JPG smaller, not the actual frame. Im working on a website and I coded myself into a corner. I had my whole webpage planned out and designed. As I was making the layout I remember how a friend of mine used frames on his site and I was like "Hey, this might help my site cut down on load times and allow for easy transitions between the content." So I started to work on that not knowing that i would hit a brick wall. I figured you could direct a link to change two frames at once, but im finding this not to be so easy.. Any advice? If everyone used Firefox, the world would be so much better! I have HTML codes that applies frames and it: (1) Runs correctly in Firefox. What, in the frame def makes a particular frame element a master, i.e. always present. There are then sub frames which I would like to appear and dissapear depending on which link is clicked. Any help on this would be great, thanks. I am having troubles with frame navigation...I have 2 sites with the same frameset configuration of a topFrame and a lower mainFrame. I want a link on the mainFrame of site A to open a page in the mainFrame of site B. The page that I want to open is located on site B but whenever I click on the link in site A it opens in the mainFrame of site A. I know that specifying the target as _parent will take it out of the frame it's in, but how do I target it to open in the mainFrame of site B?
