HTML - Setting Html Of A Td Element By Specifying A Text File
I wish to change the html of my TD element by specifying a filename. The file I specify will include the new html I want the TD element to have. I do not know how to use innerHTML to do this. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Similar TutorialsI have several websites that I maintain and update. A lot of them are just textual changes and I would think my customers can do these themselves by editing a simple .txt file. I was hoping my choices are avalable so that I can just insert this tag into my web pages and then give them login info to their edit page or show them how to upload the .txt file. What I do is I put this code in Notepad, save it has hello.html and I then open it in firefox. I then check the file and its still empty, then I open in it Internet Explorer and the same thing happens. Any help appreciated. I have a form on a page where you can type into an input text box and hit submit but then i want the text you input to overwrite the content of a .txt file which is already there. It is a very basic, sort of old-fashioned website that relies entirely on html. What I'm trying to do is make a drop-down menu that will be used as navigation for a section of a website and I want to have it in each internally linked page in that section, but I'm going to be adding more pages to it over time so I want to be able to put the drop-down menu code in a separate text file and then substitute it into the pages that I make that the options in the menu link to and then just edit the code in the text file when I add another page so that I don't have to go back and edit the code every single individual page whenever I add a new one among them. this should not be hard if im not mistaken I would just change the text for it to type in the html file, the website does not need to be opned aswell when the html file is launched i would obvioustly learn HTML but i don have time at the present because of college work,etc for reference: the page is at www.omegle.com then click 'spy mode' and you will get a textbox on the page i want the file to return the question in a loop because it saves clicking the file all the time This question is probably very basic, but I have a form on my site where people can enter a certain amount of text and after posting, it will populate a fixed width table. If I use a font like Courier New (fixed width font) I could easily have the form determine the maximum characters the person could type for this post and set the max limit. My problem is this. I don't want to use a fixed width font. I want to use Arial and a post with lots of 'i's can have more characters that a post with lots of 'W's. Is there a formula for calculation the average char width? With this I might be able to set a fair limit. Basically I'm trying to figure out the best method to have the word "Step" precede the number in an ordered list, so that <ol> <li>first line of text</li> <li>next line of text</li> <li>last line of text</li> </ol> would return Step 1. first line of text Step 2. next line of text Step 3. last line of text I know how to do this using background images with CSS, but that isn't ideal because any formatting changes to the text would require making a new gif or jpg for the word "step." Usually tab orders are controlled by tabindex tag, as far as I know. I did it exactly with tabindex. After that only I realized that I'm not supposed to use tabindex?! I've called the column col1, and in the css have put col1 { text-align:right }. Any ideas why this doesn't work? Basically every 10 seconds a frame on the bottom of the page refreshes, that page checks for new messages and if any messages exist which the user hasnt been told about a dialoge appears. It also shows the total number of unread messages. Heres the problem: Everytime the message checker refreshes it puts an entry in the back history, so if a user sits at a certain page for a minute they would have to hit back more than 6 times to go back one page. For instance thier history would look like this: Message Checker Message Checker Message Checker Message Checker Contacts Message Checker Message Checker Communications Message Checker Is there a way to tell the browser not to register a certain frame in the history? I also made it so the message checker checks to see if anything has changed since the last refresh and if nothing had changed i made it go back a page but that has very mixed results and none of them desireable.
