HTML - Cannot For The Life Of Me Figure Out Why Older Ie Doesn't Display Site Right. Please
I am building a website in dreamweaver cs3. It displays normal in all browsers except an older version of IE (I think 6.0). I have read a bunch and have learned about float left and left margin problems with older IE versions. Nothing has helped so far. To make a long story short if you view http://whatwowart.com the right column where you sign up for newsletter etc. gets put under the whole page in older IE (I think 6.0). If someone could please help me I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, John O Code can be seen at: http://whatwowart.com/code.html Similar Tutorialsfixed it on my own, this site would prob attract a lot more newbies like me if you actually helped instead of glancing at the code and making comments about things that aren't part of the problem The title says it all, my site just doesn't properly work in safari. heres the link www.royaltee-design.com help would really be appreciated thanks I am building a site for a client. It is currently located at http://planetlids.isthatclear.com I can't figure out why the hover buttons work fine in Firefox but not in IE. I tried both IE6 and 7. Any ideas? I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website? I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address.. e.g. A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar. Hope I explained ok, any responce would be much appricated! Thanks! Morning guys, So yeah I'm new, this is my first ever site. After so much trial and error with Dreamweaver (so frustrating but a great way to learn) i have finished the first draft of the site and have uploaded it to the iPower server so my bosses can review. In Dreamweaver the preview in browsers show everything is fine, but live this is not the case (how many times have you heard this?!) Good thing is it's not the positioning thats the issue - it's the images - some load up, some don't, and this seams to change everytime I refresh?!?! Surely this is a case of not me but them?! He's a link so you can have a look yourselves: http://www.friendshiprose.com/cruise_tobago.html If anybody can shed some light it would be much appreciated, as I don't know too much really. Kind regards, Simon Heres the source code to my site if it interest you: (please be kind - first site n all!) I haven't done it for a few years and recently made a website with Cyber duck as the FTP client and SubEthaEdit as the external editor. I made a simple code for frames, and the site looks terrific on my Mac's Safari and Internet Explorer. When I checked it out on my friend's PC, it's just one big color background and nothing else. It also doesn't work on Mac's Firefox. I don't know what I did wrong, and how to fix the code to make it work on PCs or Firefox. Do PCs not recognize code that Macs do? Is there a way to change it? It's probably my fault, I just don't know what it's missing. I'd appreciate any help anyone has to offer, because I'm clueless and disappointed about it. Thanks, Jenny I am using IE and for some reason PNG images specified using an <img> tag display blank. I know the files exist as there is no 'X' where the image is supposed to be but I can't see them. If I change to using a JPG then the images appear. My code is extremely simple and looks like: Code: <html><body><img src="images/test.png"></body></html> I have tried using width and height parameters but it only changes the size of the blank area. Does the <img> tag support PNG images? Is there some other reason why the images display blank? Hei! I'm trying to create a table with three columns, first and last with one row each and middle with two rows. There's pictures in left, right and in the middle bottom cell. Here's the code: Code: <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td width="16%" colspan="1" rowspan="2"><img src="kuvat/hat-right.jpg" border="0" width="100%" height="100%" alt="-------"> </td> <td width="64%" align='center'><a href="index.php">Main page</a> | <a href="aboutus.php">About Us</a> | <a href="showprods.php?sizeToShow=All">Catalog</a> | <a href="contacts.php">Contacts</a> </td> <td width="16%" colspan="1" rowspan="2"><img src="kuvat/hat-left.jpg" border="0" width="100%" height="100%" alt="----"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="64%"><img src="kuvat/hat1.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="---------"></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> It works like I want it to do in Firefox, looks ugly in Konqueror and not displayed in Internet Explorer 6. Where's the problem? Thanks in advance! Hi there, I was wondering if someone could provide some help. I have designed/built a website, and for some reason - the "Flash" content doesn't always display in Internet Explorer 7+ Some pages do display the Flash, some pages dont. The website is www.shiftingsandsarabians.com.au Chrome, Safari & firefox all display correctly. It just seems to be Internet Explorer. The "Flash" content is displayed at the top on each page. Would appreciate any help. Thanks guys, -Brad I have a page on my web site that isn't displaying correctly. I've used the same template for all the pages - but for some reason this single page won't display correctly on foxfire, but fine on IE -- you can reach the page Here: I need the page to fit the screen display - but for some reason this page won't. I would be greatful for any help Thanks Hi You would think if you did a basic DW rollover that it should work in IE Oh no!!!!!! Can anyone shed the light on this: Problem site Basically the language selection and the menus should have a change of colour, which is basically a rollover image made in dreamweaver. Menu seems to work here! This is the same menu code used to make the menu and a PC friend says that the rollover affect does work. i.e: There are peppers in the background of the words. Same code, two different affects. Any light? please??? Oh, both use PNG and both sites have the same IE PNG fix code. Did I state, its only IE that has the issue. Thanks in advance Long live Mac!!! I have a wordpress blog in which on the single post page the container div is non-existent and the sidebar and footer go into the content div. The page displays fine in firefox it only has the problem in internet explorer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is an example of the problem: http://purplemushroomreviews.com/gam...mption-review/ I've got three drop-down lists in a navbar that displays properly in IE but not in Firefox or Sea Monkey. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The lists under "Historic District" and "Take Action" are fine, but the two items under "Blog" don't show up in FF or SM. The "Blog" links are external. Would that matter to FF and SM? The WC3 turned up the likely error, but when I added and/or removed a ul and/or li tag, I got strange results and was unable to fix the problem. If someone can explain what I should do and why I'd appreciate it. WC3 flagged the <ul> tag after <li><a href="http://west80s.blogspot.com/">Blog</a></li> because: "document type does not allow element "UL" here; assuming missing "LI" start-tag" Here's the site: http://west80s.org/ Here's the code: Code: <ul class="NavHoriz-menu"> <li class="first"><a href="index.htm">Home</a></li> <li> <a href="http://">Historic District</a> <ul> <li class="first"><a href="Historic-District.htm">Proposed District</a></li> <li><a href="letters-index.htm">Support the Historic District</a></li> <li><a href="GB-pix.htm">Gilbert Brownstones</a></li> <li><a href="WestPark.htm">West Park Church</a></li> <li><a href="330-W-86-St.htm">330 W 86th St</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="http://west80s.blogspot.com/">Breaking News</a></li> <li><a href="http://">Take Action</a> <ul> <li class="first"><a href="hydrofracking.htm">Hydrofracking</a></li> <li><a href="letters-index.htm">Support the Historic District</a></li> </ul> <li><a href="MembershipForm.htm">Join</a></li> <li><a href="mailto:info@west80s.org">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="http://west80s.blogspot.com/">Blog</a></li> <ul> <li class="first"> <a href="http://west80s.blogspot.com/2011/07/please-help-us-wipe-out-graffiti-this.html">Graffitti Removal</a></li> <li><a href="http://west80s.blogspot.com/2011/07/weve-adopted-tree.html">Beautificaiton</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> Thanks for any help. Ellen Hello, I have nearly finished working on a site for my brother's Photography but am running into an issue with how it displays in IE7. Here is a link to the site: http://www.markofphotography.com/ It looks fine in Opera and Firefox, but IE7 can't seem to render it. I created the site's HTML using Photoshop and slices. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Right now i have a website that is an output frmo unix that displays the amount of free space on a server. The problem is the whole website is a mess and i only need certain information from that site. By the way the output is an html file. How would i go about taking the small information i need and displaying it on a different website? I have talked to some colleagues and some suggest VB-Script. If anyone has any knowledge about this that would be great. Have a few mistakes and / or something is missing below: Code: <html> <head>PLEASE FIND THE MISTAKE(S) or SOMETHING MISSING /</head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload=function() { document.getElementById('exampleletterList').onchange=function() { window.location=('http://www.example.org/'+this.value+''); } } </script> <body> <select id="exampleletterList"> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"file.doc\" title=\"\">John Doe<br> XXXXXXXXXXX</br></a>. <option value=""><b> PLEASE SELECT THE FOLLOWING: <b/> </option><!--this option takes you to --> <body mar="0" marginheight="0" bgcolor="rgb(38,38,38)"> "BACKGROUND BLUE GREEN MARMOL " <embed width="100%" height="100%" name="plugin" src="http://www.example.pdf" type="application/pdf"> <br> <CENTER> <option value=index.htm>Option #1</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="example7">Option #2</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="example3">Option #3 </option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="example4"><br>Option #4</br></option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="example5">Option #5</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="example2">Option #6</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="blog/wp-login.php"><!--this option takes you to blog--> </select> </CENTER> </br> </body> <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz </body> </head> </html> http://www.mythlabb.com/ IE displays the top logo just fine. Firefox displays it as a broken image. It's just a .jpg file, nothing special, and it's on the page as a regular image tag right at the top of the Body tag. Am I missing some little Firefox quirk here or something? I removed the text content in the code snippet below but it's enough to get the idea. Code: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles/mainStyle.css" type="text/css" media="screen" charset="utf-8" /> </head> <body> <center><img src="images\mythLogo.jpg"></center> <center>webdesign - consultation - graphics<br></center><br><br> <div id="topnav">Insert menu here</div> <div id="maintext">Insert text here</div> </body> </html> |
