HTML - Frames And Load Times
I'm not sure if this is the right category because I have no idea what controls this.
I have a frame with a bunch of pictures for easy updating on several pages. On a slower connection, the pictures load one by one. Is there any way to make the frame display only when all the pictures have been loaded? Thanks. jk111 Similar TutorialsHi guys, not much of a programmer and new here... but putting a site together for a friend. I have an swf file taking up the majority of a page. On the edges of are a couple of AP images (using dreamweaver). Looks great when all loaded up, but the images within HTML load well before the SWF (depending on connection speed) and it looks a bit goofy. Is there any kind of script that will hold back displaying these images until the flash is fully loaded? Many thanks for any and all advice!!! Hey guys I'm new here, as I found this forum on google. I've run across a little problem or big problem so to speak. I have coded my website and it will load in FF, but not Safari or IE. It had an php function wrong the other day, but I have since fixed that and now I just a white page. Here's a link to the site(don't mind the simple, crappy layout) http://s2roots.com/random/done/ Please any help would be great, this is a project due by Wed. I've heard many times "don't use frames, there is better ways to accomplish it", and I was wondering, is this just referring to "invisible" frames, or any frames? For example, look at Kingdom of Loathing. They use frames (or what appears to be frames) and I can't see how they could successfully make that site without. If I had to have all the screens scroll as one rather than separate, and couldn't resize when I needed to, it would be extremely annoying. So, frames are bad, or just the invisible ones? Hey, is there a way to have this tag: <meta http-equiv='refresh' content='0; URL=http://myspace.com/> And make another one: <meta http-equiv='refresh' content='1; URL=http://myspace.com/> And keep going and going? Or can I use some other method to keep redirecting the user to another site? im having a problem with a double login box showin up http://www.recon.wsnw.net Hello All, I have an issue. I am new to the web page building game and can't seem to find the answer to my question anywhere. On my web page I sell mp3's. I want the customer to be able to see how many times the songs that are listed have been downloaded. Can anyone help me please!!!??? Reference Link: {website taken off for personal reasons} If you visit the link I posted, what I want to happen, is when you click on the tabs Home, Giving Programs, Leave A Legacy or Make a Gift, I want the content of them to appear in the green box that is below the tabs. When you click on the tabs to the right - Events, Home, Home, I want their content to appear in the box that is below those tabs. I have that much figured out - but my question is - when you click on the links on the left, or on the right, the information in the opposite box (from the previous link that was clicked) goes away. Is there anyway to keep the information up in both boxes at all times? Example: If you click on Make a Gift - Tab content 4 here Tab content 4 here shows up in the green box below the tabs. BUT... when you click on Events to the right - TOOOOOOOOOOLS shows up - but 'Tab content 4 here' goes away. PROBLEM - I want 'Tab content 4 here' to stay up. Thanks so much in advance!! I want this select menu to show 2 items at a time and allow multiple selections. The size tag should show only 2 items but instead it shows all of the items. How can I get only 2 items shown? Thank you so much for your time! Code: <select multiple name="category" size="2"> <option value="livemodel">Live Model</option> <option value="museum">Museum</option> <option value="subwaysketch">Subway Sketch</option> <option value="livemodel">Live Model</option> <option value="museum">Museum</option> <option value="subwaysketch">Subway Sketch</option> </select> The page I've designed uses lots of solid colour rectangles. Ive created them by stretching a 1x1 GIF image to the correct proportions. At the moment, I've simply used the same GIF, with different div ID's each time. Same image is being used for say: Sidebar Header Footer That ONE image is constrained within one container/wrapper MULTIPLE TIMES (with different id), and has different dimensions, and different positions. While this renders fine locally, it hasn't been successful on a remote server. The image only shows up for one of the div ID's, and the rest are shown as broken links. Would I have to create a unique image file for each rectangle I want to create? Or is it just my lack of knowledge about how to correctly use FTP. I've never made a remote webpage before. Only used HTML locally. PS: I used a free webhost (perhaps i also therefore shot myself in the foot). Here's a link to it: http://yimidesign.comze.com/About%20Me.html I have this task as part of an HTML class project. It has to be done using the <embed> tag, and must repeat a wav file twice (playing it three times total). This is the code I'm using: <p> <embed src="background.wav" width="145" height="100" hidden="true" autostart="true" playcount="3" loop="3" /> </p> It doesn't loop at all in firefox, and in IE it loops constantly. If I remove the loop="3" attribute, it works properly in IE. Is there any way to get this working across browsers using the embed tag, or would a more complex method be needed? (such as javascript browser detection with browser specific code). I'm really stuck on this, any help would be really appreciated. Hi guys, I have a couple of sites done over the last while and, whilst they work well enough, I want something like frames. I have resisted using them because everything on the net about it seems to be bad. The problem is that I have a 'template' which is the same for almost every page on the site (logo, search bar, top navigation bar, side navigation & footer). If I want to change anything in this 'template', I have to go and change it on every single page. This is OK on a couple of pages but I have nearly 20 now and it seems ridiculous! So how should I be doing it? What I really want is to have the 'template' in just one place so that I change the one file and it then applies to all my pages. I am self taught and really only know html/css with a very limited knowledge of javascript. Thank you When designing websites in the past I have always used tables to organize content, but I've noticed that many professional templates don't use tables, but instead use Div Ids. Are Div ID's better and if they are can anyone tell me how to use them. Lock n delete. My net is stuffing up n it double posted. Please read my other post... Hello guys, im new here =) So.. I was trying to make a frame with a scrolling bar, like this site >> www.roxdownload.net take a look =) What should i do? Thank you very much =D I have a page that has a few images with links to differnet sites and I want them to link to another page with a frame at the top that shows the same inages that are smaller and the page of the website below it. I know how to do frames but I dont want to create a different page per link. (In short I want to have a link to a website open in another page with frames) Here is a basic idea for the front page http://www.techmatefl.com/pcp/ Here is the second page with the icons and the blank area is where I want the different sites that you choose to show http://www.techmatefl.com/pcp/site.html So it will be like a google image search in a way. Let me know if there is a way to do this with HTML, JS, or anything else. Hey, I'm a html noob building a website for html. I have frames set up so that it is 3 columns. In the middle column there are three rows (Header, menu and content respectively). The problem I'm having is, although I've made the frames so that they can't be dragged to alter their size, when the user resizes the window the frames get resized and all the content (including banner, menu buttons etc.) get cut off or pushed into "no mans land". Id like one of the following to be possible: - How do i make the window so it opens at a specific size, and cant be resized. - Or if the window has to be resizable, can i set a minimum point the frames can be resized to. - Or how do i make the content so that it doenst go to the s***house. - Or how do i make the frames so they aren't resized when the window is... Bellow is a picture and my coding so you can see what's wrong: (in the picture you can see the banner being cut off, the buttons havent been cut off yet as the window is still big). <body properties="fixed"> <frameset border="3" bordercolor="#000000" rows="100%"> <frameset cols="20%,60%,20%"> <frame src="backdrop.html" name="lbackdrop" noresize scrolling="no"> <frameset rows="25%,10%,65%"> <frame src="header.html" name="header" noresize scrolling="no"> <frame src="menu2.html" name="menu" noresize scrolling="no" <frame src="main.html" name="mainwindow" noresize scrolling="no" </frameset> <frame src="backdrop.html" name="rbackdrop" noresize scrolling="no"> </frameset> </frameset> </body> Thanks in advance Alright so I am using macromedia dreamweaver building a website and I have set up my page so that there is a menu on the left side using a frame. Now when I make links using the text in the frame, it opens the new page in that frame which is not what I want. Ideally I would like it to open in another frame and keep the menu bar frame on the left side. So i guess that makes my question two part. How do I link a page from a frame into either a whole new page or in another frame keeping the original menu frame there? if this doesnt make sense i can try to re-word it or try and show you my problem. thanks Hey everybody! I have a website on a three row frameset (top, body, bottom). I've created a separate frameset for each page on my site. But is becoming a bit annoying. I want to know if it's possible to click on a link, from my main page and have that open one frameset with the same Top and Bottom but, depending on the button I click, is the page that appears as the body. I hope that's clear, I'm a newbie. I'll really appreciate if there are any ideas on the matter. Thanks!!! Cheers! |
