The Unicode Byte-Order Mark (BOM) in UTF-8 encoded files is known to cause problems for some text editors and older browsers. You may want to consider avoiding its use until it is better supported. My other pages, with the same DOCTYPE do not show this error. Copy and paste from a good page does not make the problem go away. I'm stumped. Assistance solving this baffling problem is appreciated. Similar TutorialsHello, Hello, I am using Java servlet to communicate with Sametime chat application. Communication is through HTML (Servlet sends html tags as strings to app). Now, I have photo in servlet which is as byte array. I know how to make image from byte array in Java, but I need to send it, somehow, through these html tags to app and to show it there. Is that possible? thnx in advance, Dragan Anybody know how to use an image to mark a checkbox as checked? Like with an onClick event or something. Keep in mind, i can't use the label method because it would ruin the table i have the images and checkboxes in. IE: The checkboxes and images are in separate parts of the table. I would really like some help. You see when i leave the telephone field blank the code error message comes up telling me that i cant leave that field blank. When i then put in illegal characters it says that i used illegal characters but instead of clearing the feild, allowing me to type the correct phone number and then moving onto the getradio if statement it goes to receipt page when the submit button is clicked instead of doing the validate checks first and then moving onto the receipt.html page. This is the problem area. Code: if (form.phone.value == "") { alert("Please enter your telephone number for shipping Information."); form.phone.focus(); return (false); } else { validate(); } if (getRadio("pay") == null) { alert("Please choose a payment method."); return (false); } return (true); } //--> The below code is for the form. The site runs fine in Chrome but displays incorrectly in IE and FireFox. You can see the site at www.iwailingwall.com Firefox is giving the following error: Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.statusText]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsBlocklistService.js :: anonymous :: line 548" data: no] Source File: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsBlocklistService.js Line: 548 IE is not showing any errors. I would really appreciate any help on the display issue as well as a pointer to browser-specific code validators if they exist. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to assist in a diagnosis. I have cleared all errors listed apart from one. The error is: Code: The tag name: "embed" Not found in currently active versions.[HTML 4.0] I have added a flash annimation and used the embed tag for it to work in mozilla. If i remove the embed tag it works in IE but not in mozilla. This is the section of script the error is refering too: Code: Im using dreamweaver so i don't know which bits i can strip out. i do know if i strip out the embed tag flash wont show in mozilla but it still works in IE. Is there a valid fix for this? How else can i show flash both in IE6/7 and mozilla making sure it validates. Cheers in advance Rick Hi. My entire site is 100% XHTML1.1. Except for some new code I added which causes errors in validation. the code is HTML Code: I understand maybe CDATA islands can help with this? or making it external? but I have no idea how to do that with it having html code in there too.. I don't know if you can surround it in CDATA tags. There are other lines of code too, exactly the same except have different languages. Any help would be awesome! Hi Gang, I'm currently trying to clean up my webpage code and for the most part it's going well - there's only one small problem: Many parts of my site link to external URLS with long "$_GET"-inspired addresses. (For example, "abc.php?id=xyz&itemid=frog" The problem is that W3C validation throws up a red flag whenever it sees an "field=xyz" part of a url, giving the messages: Quote: general entity "field" not defined and no default entity. every time it stumbles across an ampersand in the URL and: Quote: reference to entity "field" for which no system identifier could be generated. every time it stumbles across an equals sign. I'm *sure* there must be some way around this - surely W3C can acknowledge _GET URLS somehow? If anyone can offer any suggestions I'd be very appreciative. Many thanks, - SuperGrover :-) i need order list with brakets like:- ( i ) abc ( ii ) def thankx budiesssss Alright so in what order should I learn the basic things of web design? I want a really cool site that look professional. So basically I want to learn HTML, XHTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, and PHP. What order should I learn those? Is that knowledge enough to make a stunning website? ---------------------- I am closing in on XHTML/CSS using the book Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML, can anyone tell me which should be the next 2 books I should order to continue with learning web development please? i have a drop down list which when activated gets covered by another object on the site, is there anything that can be done to fix this visual order problem.... p.s. the blocking object is an image as well as a form dropdownlist (ddl). I'm trying to impliment a work order system on my website, and example can be seen here of the work order system beta i'm working on, http://www.army.mil/oldguard/workorder/pworkorder.htm I need to be able to assign a work order number automatically that will not only go in the e-mail that flexmail sends out from the form, but also lets the user know what their work order number will be. Also, the work order number should not increase unless there is a successful form submission. The army is paranoid so we have no access to asp, php, perl, or cgi on the server, has to all be done with ajax, javascript, and html. The only other 3rd party software is felxmail and all it handles is the sending of the information fed to it via e-mail. Thank for any help you can provide. Hi all, I am new here and this will be my first official question. I am a complete beginner at this and would like some advice. I am currently learning HTML and would like to know this... Given all the advancements in web programming languages, in what order would you all suggest learning them. I am pretty sure HTML stands out as numero uno on the list but where from there and in what order would you learn them. Thanks in advance for you help and I look forward to being a member of this forum. Hi, how can I rearrange items by name or genre? I want to make a sort of collection for a few movies, with information about actors and so on. I have the information for each movie in a div tag. What do I have to do so that when I click, let's say on name, it lists the movies alphabetically? Is there any solution for this? Or generally how would you do this? Thank you. |
