Thanks Eldarau I've heard many times "don't use frames, there is better ways to accomplish it", and I was wondering, is this just referring to "invisible" frames, or any frames? For example, look at Kingdom of Loathing. They use frames (or what appears to be frames) and I can't see how they could successfully make that site without. If I had to have all the screens scroll as one rather than separate, and couldn't resize when I needed to, it would be extremely annoying. So, frames are bad, or just the invisible ones? I have this page made with Dreamweaver. http://www.interfaceit.eu/eurometal/home.html in IE it works fine but with Netscape is a mess. Can anybody advise me what should i do? How can I eleminate the spaces that appears in Netscape Borwser? Thank You I have my application GUI designed in html, launchable from a netscape communicator(Version 4.79). I t works by connecting to a backend process running on a specific port in a Solaris(5.8) box. The problem here is that the GUI window hangs frequently, and the user has to do a reload to proceed. Earlier, when the GUI was launched from my workstation, and was connected to a process running on the saem machine, I did not have any problems. Now that there is a central server where the process runs and all users(netscape acts as a client here) connect to it, I face this issue. The backend process is designed in a way that it can serve multiple requests simultaneously, and I know for sure that the number of people trying to connect to that process does not exceed the maximum possible. I know, who still uses Netscape? Alas, this will not solve my problem nor please my customer. My drop down menus that should go vertical as you roll over the bar are going horizontal and you can't click on them! Would someone please help me out? www.liftoffevents.com Hi, I have a rather strange problem with Firefox and NEtscape. I am currently involved in developing a web site which compares financial products. We have a choices page where the users enter the choices and submits it and a results table come up after a DB query. This works correctly in IE 6 when we try it 'N' number of times. But on Firefox and Netscape after 7 or 8 tries the page gets submitted but we do not get the resuilts page but we end up with a blank page. When the users submit the form it calls a jsp which has a sinle frame whose contents are propulated from a GET call to an xsl/jsp file which queries the DB and populates the results. From the logs we can see that whenever the blank page comes up the results jsp is called but not the subsequent jsp/xsl to populate the frame. Does anybody know what can be problem? It works fine in IE but not in FF or N9. Any help will be much appreciated Results Page code: <%-- Define frameset with the properties of each frame --%> <FRAMESET rows="*" frameborder="0" border="0" framespacing="0"> <FRAME src="<%=bodyFrameUrl%>?<%=urlValues%>" name="bottomframe" scrolling="yes" noresize="yes" border="0"> </FRAMESET><noframes></noframes> This site can be viewed @ http://tnccat01.fsa.gov.uk/tables Cheers, Karthik I have done everything I can with this table to try and piece it together, and Nescape (and I have been told I either FoxFire or Opera or someother one) is insiting on either misaligning or inserting gaps in this table. I have gone over my coding again and again and just can't find the glitch. I have designed other sites with navigation tables and there are no gaps in Natscape- I have gone so far as to copy the working code from those and then just changed the imaging/added cells to fit this layout and WHAM it gaps them again. Can anoyone offer some assistance? http://www.jennifersimagination.com Thanks! hello. i have a table in HTML (made with Dreamweaver) with some text in one row. when i browse it with IE the text is where I putted it but with Netscape the text is much lower. before the text i have one colored column (widith 2 pixels), in IE it is visible correct but with Netscape Navigator it is missing. only if i incrase the widith i can see it with Netscape. Can somebody help me solve this problems? Thank You in advance. Lock n delete. My net is stuffing up n it double posted. Please read my other post... I was wondering how to do frames to set up well anyways if you can help me that would be great I have three frames: -Header -Menu -Content On -Menu, I'm using drop down menu. This is were my problem occurs. All the options don't show up. So I was just wondering it is possible to overlay the -Menu frame over the -Content frame? Any other method to try and get around this problem? Thanks. Alright here is my problem. I have a website that is runned using frames and I have another site that wants to link to a specific page on my site. Is there a way an outside website can link to the frame on my site Hey, http://www.artistrichardcook.co.uk/src/ - here is the start to a website I am making for my art college which exists of two frames. A left (with the links) and the main frame (with the content). Simple. However, due to it being a frame and the obviously long list of links, when my browser is smaller than usual you can't see the bottom of the links. I know I could add a scrollbar to the frame but it looks pretty awful. My screen is a 17" laptop and the number of people at college viewing this will have smaller laptop screens and this is my problem. Basically, was there anyway to make both the left frame scroll as you scrolled the main frame as in linked? So the scrollbar would exist for both the frames rather than just one or the other? Sorry if this doesn't make sense but I'm not sure how else to put it. I would appreciate any help Thanks, Rich I need help to create the frameset with the structure in the attached file. Can anyone help me please? Hey, I'm a html noob building a website for html. I have frames set up so that it is 3 columns. In the middle column there are three rows (Header, menu and content respectively). The problem I'm having is, although I've made the frames so that they can't be dragged to alter their size, when the user resizes the window the frames get resized and all the content (including banner, menu buttons etc.) get cut off or pushed into "no mans land". Id like one of the following to be possible: - How do i make the window so it opens at a specific size, and cant be resized. - Or if the window has to be resizable, can i set a minimum point the frames can be resized to. - Or how do i make the content so that it doenst go to the s***house. - Or how do i make the frames so they aren't resized when the window is... Bellow is a picture and my coding so you can see what's wrong: (in the picture you can see the banner being cut off, the buttons havent been cut off yet as the window is still big). <body properties="fixed"> <frameset border="3" bordercolor="#000000" rows="100%"> <frameset cols="20%,60%,20%"> <frame src="backdrop.html" name="lbackdrop" noresize scrolling="no"> <frameset rows="25%,10%,65%"> <frame src="header.html" name="header" noresize scrolling="no"> <frame src="menu2.html" name="menu" noresize scrolling="no" <frame src="main.html" name="mainwindow" noresize scrolling="no" </frameset> <frame src="backdrop.html" name="rbackdrop" noresize scrolling="no"> </frameset> </frameset> </body> Thanks in advance How to make such frames i can`t make it Hello, I have nearly finished my website now and feel I just have one thing left to complete it and be satisfied. I'd like to change my FAQ page and I think maybe using frames is the answer. Instead of the whole page scrolling down I'd like the page to be static with just the info scrollable. See my page here ozlotteriesonline.net/faq.html You will notice the rest of my site is fine because I have managed to put the information within the limits of the container but the FAQ doesnt fit. Just a couple of questions, How do I do it? Are there any negative side effects of having frames? Thanks in advance. Hi, First time posting... I have a site that contains frames and I am applying IDs to the tables and providing links above to move further down the page but it also moves the outer frame but I would like the outer frame to remain still and for the link to scroll to the right place in the page in the inner frame. Is this possible? Thanks. Hi guys, I have a couple of sites done over the last while and, whilst they work well enough, I want something like frames. I have resisted using them because everything on the net about it seems to be bad. The problem is that I have a 'template' which is the same for almost every page on the site (logo, search bar, top navigation bar, side navigation & footer). If I want to change anything in this 'template', I have to go and change it on every single page. This is OK on a couple of pages but I have nearly 20 now and it seems ridiculous! So how should I be doing it? What I really want is to have the 'template' in just one place so that I change the one file and it then applies to all my pages. I am self taught and really only know html/css with a very limited knowledge of javascript. Thank you |
