HTML - Ie Changing Table Widths (with Iframe)
Hi all, thank you in advance to anyone that can help.
I'm sure this is probably an issue that has been covered in the past however I have had no luck finding it. I have a 2 column table with an iframe the left column. Firefox shows this correctly, the edge of the cell meets with the iframe etc, but when viewed in IE, the table widths change dramatically. I have inserted two images (firefox v IE) to show what is happening. If anyone can find what I have done wrong, I would greatly appreciated. Please, keep the replies in simple terms, I'm a bit of a n00b... Please, keep the replies in simple terms, I'm a bit of a n00b... As you can see, the gray table background has overlapped over the iframe. Why the "R w50" text is not on the right?? And why the widths on the top table are not correct? How can I fix it? Code: <table border=1 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=0> <tr> <td style=\"width:30px;\">w30</td> <td>n</td> <td style=\"text-align:right; width:50px;\">R w50</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=3> <table border=1 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=0 bordercolor=red width=100%> <td style=\"width:30px;\">w30</td> <td>n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n</td> <td style=\"text-align:right; width:50px;\">R w50</td> </table> </td> </tr> </table> Hi Guys, I'm having major problems with setting the widths of columns on my page. As per attached pic, I'm trying to get the three main columns to be exactly 300 however it is putting it as 300 (308) in the design view which means the backgrounds in some of the table cells are repeating as shown in box and the text is spreading across the table cell width of what the figure is in brackets and not the 300 I want it to be. Any one got any ideas - its driving me nuts ! Is it possible to set a table's width as something like this? HTML Code: <table width="100%-100px"> Hi guys, I have a problem with table widths used to arrange content on a website. Why am I not using DIVs? Because it's too time consuming at the moment to convert it over, and my client is not familiar with DIVs and has no time to learn it. So I have to stick to using tables for him to maintain on his own. Here's a quick rundown on my table layout. ----------------------------- |TD1-------------|TD1a****| ------------------ |TD2-------------|********| ------------------ |TD3-------------|********| ------------------ |TD4-------------|********| |Table 2----------|********| ------------------------------ |TD5-------------|********| ------------------------------ That's my attempt to illustrate my layout. I'm using * and - as fillers, the editor removes all the empty spaces... My problem is, TD1 to TD3 and TD5 aligns nicely vertically - they all have the same / correct width. However, TD4 with a table inside is slight shorter in width than it should. About 1 or 2 px. The following shows the screenshots. zoomed in.... I need to get that TD4 with the table inside to have the same width as the others. I have tried removing all BORDER and BORDERCOLOR codes from all the table tags, no use. I tried using both CSS and the table tag WIDTH to control it, still doesn't work. Need suggestions!! Please click here to see my code. It's a little messy... http://www.thienkaiwei.com/index7.html why the table i have dont expand over browser borders when sum of td widths is bigger than screen width? How can i overcome this problem? Okay so i got a quick request, I need someone to look at the table entitled "Two column layout with a header and a footer" on this table layout site: http://www.ironspider.ca/webdesign10...es4layout2.htm (its the 3rd table down). right under that table it has a "view source code" button for you to see the source code of the table. Well how do I edit that code, so that the "menu column" is on the right side, instead of the left side? thanks, -Aanders5 I have a simple web page which consists of one column of cells, five rows down. I would like to have some sort of hierarchical structure that allows me to click a link in the top-most cell to bring up a set of links in the second row, then click on one of these links to bring up some more links in the third row etc. Clicking on a different link in the top-most cell will then bring up a different set of links in the second row, and so on. Can anyone suggest a method to do this? I've been looking into frames but i've read that this isn't best practise. Thanks. Hi. I set the opacity of content tables within my webpage to 0.90 so that my background can be seen slightly. However my images in these content tables are also see through. How do i make the images 100% opaque? I have tried entering the image code like this: <IMG SRC="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f293/jmzcherry/pete-doherty-gio-goi.jpg" STYLE=filter:alpha(opacity=100) WIDTH="245" HEIGHT="250" ALIGN="left"> but that didnt work. Heres how i did the opacity for the tables: table table table td { background-color:FFFFFF; filter:alpha(opacity=90); -moz-opacity:0.90; opacity:0.90; -khtml-opacity:0.90; } table table table table td {filter:none;} OK I am so new to HTML I can't even spell it. I have a industrial HMI the has some custom webpage features to it and I would like to learn how to build the attached Table. I am not looking for someone to do this for me I am looking for some pointers. Here is a link to the device that I am going to use and a quick breakdown of how they do things. This statement that I fully understand, I am out of my knowledge base so that is why I am here "Although the HTML code will be explained or commented through this document, a basic understanding is required to create a proper web site." http://www.redlion.net/Support/TechN...ace/TNOI33.pdf I don't know what CSS is ? I got a few examples from all over the web some from http://www.quackit.com. and just can't figure out the layout and cell colors. I plan on changing the background color on the cell to the right of the descriptor depending on the cell value. Red if <100, Green >100 I would like to start with a cell layout that I can then link values to and from the HMI per the instructions in the Tech Note above. I have played with this device just basically copy and paste the above note I have gotten that working before. Thanks for taking your time to at least read this post from a NOOB. Hi guys, First of all I'm a newbie at web coding and such... Using dreamweaver I managed to create a simple web design, Exactly as I wanted it. Now my only problem lies with the table and the iframe within it, Is it possible for the table to depend on the iframe's height and increase accordingly? (auto increase height and fill the whole frame page without scrolling inside the frame) Here is the code, maybe I did something wrong... <style type="text/css"> body { margin-top: 0px; } </style> <body bgcolor="#c7c7c7"><table width="1020" height="100%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <th width="20" height="100%" rowspan="3" scope="col"><img src="bgleft3.jpg" width="20" height="100%" /></th> <th width="980" height="277" background="Mainbanner.jpg" scope="col"></th> <th width="20" height="100%" rowspan="3" scope="col"><img src="bgright3.jpg" width="20" height="100%" /></th> </tr> <tr> <th width="980" height="51" background="Barnew.jpg" scope="col"></th> </tr> <tr> <td width="980" height="100%" bgcolor="#3e5d75"><iframe src="frame_new.html" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> </td> </tr> <tr> <th width="20" height="46" background="BottomLeft.jpg" scope="col"></th> <th width="980" height="46" background="BottomNew.jpg" scope="col"></th> <th width="20" height="46" background="BottomRight.jpg" scope="col"></th> </tr> </table> </body> Thanks in advance. (Already tried google and searched the forums, didnt find anything) Hello all, Just quick question: 1.) I am on Blogger and I want the layout to be centered (not the text). How can I achieve this? 2.) I have 4 containers (navigation at top, main for posts, sidebar for more navigation, and a footer), what is the best way to have a width that looks great/compatible on IE-FF as well as smaller CRT's to widescreen LCD's? 3.) How can i set the widths of my cols to match the width of the text that is in it? I.e set col 1 to the width of text that is in it ( will not always be same length) and have cols 2 start as soon as this finishes. Im assuming this is a simple thing to do but im just not sure. Basically what I want is a floating table head that follows you around when you scroll the table. Did all that, but the problem is that you need to cut out the head of the table to make it float. The problem comes where you have a table that has no column width set so the column width is determined by the content of tbody. I'm trying to make the browsers keep rendering the entire table, but hide the tbody so the columns won't loose their widths. It works fine in Mozilla and Opera, but IE has problems. Here is the code: HTML Code: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> table { border-collapse: collapse; } tbody td { line-height: 0px; visibility: hidden; } </style> </head> <body> <table id="table_test" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="background-color: red;"> <thead> <tr> <th>column1</th> <th>column2</th> <th>column3</th> <th>column4</th> <th>column5</th> <th>column6</th> <th>column7</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst jaz sem pa daljsi tekst</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> <tr> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>nekaj</td> <td>pac</td> <td>mora</td> <td>mora</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html> And the result can be seen in the attached picture. The problem is that i want to add some text below the iframe. however, my text keeps showing up on the right hand side of the iframe. i've looked at the tutorials discussing the tags available for iframe, but surprisingly, none seem to relevant to this. Code: <html> <body> <table border="0" cellspacing="10"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="left"> <td valign="top"> <iframe src="mySource.jsp" height="700" width="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto"></iframe> </td> </table> This should be displayed below the iframe but actually gets displayed on the right </body> </html> any help / guidance in this will be much appreciated. thanks in advance! Is there a way I can embed an IFrame with the list, and when you click on a show, you it will change the Playing Show http://tiny.cc/catchup <---The page I am referring to. Hi! I've been cracking my head trying to solve this: How can I insert a iframe [i.e. 300x200px] inside of another iframe [i.e. 700x500px] and pull different web content n each one? kind of concentric iframes or like a 'Donut iframe' Now here is my problem. I'm not familiar with other laguages then html and a little bit of javascript and I wanted to make a site for me and my brothers photography company. I currently using dreamweaver and have figured out the way I want to make this site. I tried using ordinary frames, but I want the website to be aligned in the middle and I could make that happen. That is why I went into iframes and a regular table on the index page. My problem now is that I have several iFrames and I want a link from one to open in another. http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_d...e/iframes3.htm here is a link for this to happen, and the simple solution is to name the frame and then target the link. but I have tried that and when the link is from one iframe to another it won't work. If the link is on the index page and target the iframe then it works. Do you have any idea why this happens? I know it's possible since the link above does it. I'm trying to build a site where you can change the .css I found one way that works but the problem is that, when you click on a link, it automaticly changes back to the default .css file in stead of the one that the person was using... this is the code I used: <head> <link title="style1" rel="stylesheet" href="style1.css" type="text/css" /> <link title="style2" rel="alternate stylesheet" href="style2.css" type="text/css" /> <link title="style3" rel="alternate stylesheet" href="style3.css" type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript"> function setActiveStyleSheet(title) { var i, a, main; for(i=0; (a = document.getElementsByTagName("link")[i]); i++) { if(a.getAttribute("rel").indexOf("style") != -1 && a.getAttribute("title")) { a.disabled = true; if(a.getAttribute("title") == title) a.disabled = false; } } } </script> </head> and in the body: <a style="cursor:pointer" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet('style1');"><img src="images/a1.jpg" alt="a1" width="30" height="30" /></a> <a style="cursor:pointer" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet('style2');"><img src="images/a2.jpg" alt="a2" width="30" height="30" /></a> <a style="cursor:pointer" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet('style3');"><img src="images/a3.jpg" alt="a3" width="30" height="30" /></a> I could use some help... |
