HTML - New Index File -- Where To Point It?
Hello all. I am currently putting together a flash intro for a friend of mine. He operates a World of Warcraft guild website through DKPSystem.com. While DKPsystem.com does normally use a subdomain for the registered guild, you can implement your own domain through the backend. He has done this.
So, here is my problem. What I want to do is create the flash intro and connect it up with a index.html file. Considering that DKPsystem.com uses a structure in which the user cannot upload files via FTP, I have no idea how to implement this flash intro. Any ideas how this would be done? Thanks in advance for all of your help. Similar TutorialsHi all I have a download page on my site, but whilst my site is currently undergoing a facelift, I want to place all my downloads onto an index page that will simply show a list of all the downloadable files within a certain folder I've seen it on a few sites before. It is just a simple list of all the files....click on one and it will download Does anybody have any ideas on how I do this please? Hello all, I am new to html. I am learning but doing a web site For a non-profit organization. It is currently still under construction and I was wondering if this is the best way to "re-cache" the new content. Specifically, the title, description and keywords meta elements. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Ok still super new at this HTML thing, but I am going to be using Filezilla to access my friends index.html file for a little eding of the text. My question is can I open the file, edit what I need and save it all within filezilla? Or do I need to drag the index.html file to my desktop, edit, save and the drag it back to filezilla? I finally figured out how to add text to my index and now I have another question. In my website template There is Heading 1 and a Heading 2 so my question is how do I delete any sections or headings that I don't need to make it go away on my home page. There is so much and I don't think I need all of it..... Thanks in advance I am learning web design and I need to know what I need to learn. Let me see if I can explain the concept that I would like to learn: I want to have a site where a customer fills out a form and then the information on that form gets placed on its own page. Does that make sense? I remember once seeing a CGI script for a website that would self generate new pages, but I can't remember what this concept is called. Thanks so much! Marie I'm taking classes over html, and as we were learning hotspot's i din't understand what the point of it was, because you could just use href and img src to link the image.. Why do all the work of finding the coords?? I am creating an FBML page in Facebook and can not figure out how to do an anchor point in the page - mostly because instructions online only tell you how to do it and show snippets of code, not the entire portion, so I can't tell where to put the two different parts of the code (a name & a href with #). This is the code I have: Current Projects
I want it to link to the "Current Projects" section of the document. I do not know how to set this up. Seems like it should be easy... I know it is, right? I just joined the forums because I want to start making websites again. I used to do it about 3 years ago ( nothing hardcore), but i knew enough to make basic websites. Now, I want to learn the more indepth stuff. Such as Mysql, perl, css, java, javascript etc... i dont even know what someof those are. So heres my question. WHERE SHOULD I START? I want to start from scratch. I dont even rememeber some of the html stuff, so where do you guys think i should start? what are the fundamentals i need to know in order to move on to the more difficult stuff. One last thing, can someone tell me the difference between html/xhtml/xml.. im kinda lost... Hi, I have just joined the forum, so hello!! Although the standard margins for bullets are fine for what I want, I find when they are to the right of an image they have a different indent. I have managed to correct this in FF by using
but the bullets are invisible with IE. Any ideas? Known issues between all browsers past and present Ok, we know that as technology moves forward, some things dont. I'm no hot shot on these things and would be interested to know of all that exist to date. So what i would like is a point of reference to all Coders of all levels listing all the things that we just shouldn't do anymore. Please contribute and Add anything worth mentioning or even questions about things you don't understand. How do I place a button at a specific point on the webpage, somehow type co ordinates of a point on the page and the button will appear there? Does anyone know if there is an HTML code, were when you click at a certain point on the screen, it is a link to another document? Hi all, Im having a problem with unordered lists. When I view it in Dreamweaver, the bullet points are small, but when I view in browser, they are huge. Ive tried adding classes to the CSS, but not sure what im doing wrong. Ive got one class that is: .bulletList { padding:0px; margin:12px; } I tried adding a different class for the actual lists: .bulletSize { font-size:12px; } But all this did was change the size of the font and not the size of the bullet point. Can anyone suggest what I could do to fix this? Thanks in advance so i want to have my navigation hover over my content, so when i scroll through my content it flows underneath the navigation.. i am putting the navigation div at z-index:3 and the content at z-index:1 but it wont slide beneath.. help pls here's my site: all css is done on the page so u can see it. http://levisternberg.com/joomla16/ Here's my problem: I'm a subsciber with GeoCities/Yahoo, and had my html files stored. When I try upload my stuff to a certain forum I get a "File Not Found" msg. By looking around I learned that the problem might be the "index.htm" file, which needs to for each subdirectory separately.
