HTML - Problems Building Website

the host was recently defaced, now i'm having a number of problems. please try to help.

1. My cutenews folder was hacked - i tried to delete it, but the backup folder seems locked, i cannot change ANYTHING about it. - i was told the hacker had did it and propbably left a backdoor script there..

2. i searched about the 'defacement' and it turns out my gallery was hacked, the albums folder. i checked and it was. now about 5 pictures in the /userpics folder - with the same name only 1 number different, can't be backed up, because i was told to backup the server - they are pictures but i don't know if hackers can use them as backdoor scripts, to be fair they do have a weird name

3. my www folder on my ftp - where i upload my files always. now has NOTHING in it, they have completely dissapeared, only the public_html folder shows them! i don't understand this :O - its really scaring me because i don't know anything about how to solve hacking problem or stuff like this

Hi this is my first thread to this forum, it looked like you guys could help me with my problems so i hope you can!

basically on my index.php page, i have two links at the bottom of the page which go to different pages, but one works and one doesnt. These two links have almost the exact same code apart from the link variable etc... and i just cant understand why the link on the left of the page, home link, doesnt work, but the link on the right hand side, forum link, does... however this problem is only apparant in firefox and not IE. when i say "it doesnt work" i mean that the browser doesnt even realise its a link, the cursor doesnt change to the pointing hand etc. its like the "<a href" code isnt there...

my clients website timesout on his mac (using firefox as a browser) http://powderpowder.co.uk/mhdesign-new/ it works fine on ie7 and firefox anyone out there with a mac that can test this - I have tested it on 2 pc's a phone and in opera. what's going on is it his browser? settings or what? please help anyone wirth a mac!

Today i was at my friends house and went to checkout my site. When i went on it the page format was all messed up and my Paypal add to cart was below the navigation bar when its suppose to be next to contact me button. Could someone please tell me whats the problem or mabey go to it to see if you have the same problem?

Also I was wondering if some one could tell me how to add an extra frame for google adsence for the left and right of the layout.

First of all my html etc skills aren't any good.
I have a basic understanding how it works etc, but thats about it :s

So, I know how to use Photoshop, and the basics of dreamweaver.

I have 2 versions, that one, and one which isn't so wide.
But otherwise it's the same, except that in the uploaded version there, i dont have an iframe inside the box.

So my problem here is that whenever I type something in the middle, that exceeds its original size, it expands, thats meant to do so, but it also expands the navigation bar and the rest of the page, leaving it messy and pretty, well...

I'd need some ideas how to fix this, e.g. if I made a index page, just like that, without the text box, and made an iframe, that expands downwards, inside it, put a separate .html (the box).

I'm not gonna rip my ass off trying it, I'd really want some ideas how to construct it.


Another problem I had with the box was that the right side image of the box (the dropshadow is 90 degrees), the shadow wouldnt go with a constant depth from the top to the bottom, so when the image repeated itself i had an ugly "error".
What I did was to remove the shadow of the text box entirely.

I am creating a prototype of a website on a local cdrive that will be installed on thousands of other computers, also on their crive.

As such, thanks to SP2, there are warnings that come up when the home page of this site is opened up (yellow bar at top, several clickthroughs that you have to click on).

I installed the .... `fix' which was to add to the top of the page a `Mark of the Web' which was to add this line of code <!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet --> as the very first line.

Intial problem was solved, this page now opens without any warnings !

HOWEVER A NEW PROBLEM WAS CREATED! Once on this page, any subsequent links to pdfs do not work AT ALL!

Question: how can I stop the error messages and maintain full functionality to provide links to pdfs?

Mo The solution cannot be changing settings on their browsers, or changing a registry key, or shipping a CD with the site on it, or putting it on the internet.

I've had problems validating my site. I am getting this error multiple times:

document type does not allow element "span" here; missing one of "ins", "del", "h1", "h2", "h3", "h4", "h5", "h6", "p", "div", "pre", "address", "fieldset" start-tag.

This also occurs for "br", "a", "input", and "hr". All of these tags are already in div tags. I've also tried to surround them in p tags, but I still got the same error. There are no other validation errors with my site.

Ok gentlemen, here's my situation. I am by trade a Pc/laptop repair/upgrade tech but since tech's are dime a dozen here in NY the business is no longer what it was years ago so I have to branch out into some other line of work to support myself and family, I am 48 years old so time is not on my side, I intend on becoming a webmaster becuase I like it and also because this field would allow me to work from my home office taking whatever jobs I can find locally. I do have a little experience in web design having designed a couple of sites in the past using templates but not the coding I had not done which is why I decided to start from scratch to build a good foundation.

It is my intention to keep on studying, I will have completed the XHTML/CSS course in the next day or so and I was advised here that Javascript should be my next logical move then PHP... but I am thinking since I am getting offers for small jobs locally here that I should first try to gain some practical experience building some actual sites while I am studying from the web design book THEN when I am finished with that which shouldn't take long move on to Javascript.

Do you guys think this is the best move for me or should I complete Javascript and PHP first THEN go into actual web designing? Any thoughts/advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

hi im jack, i like challanging myself with new things, well a freind asked my if i could build them a website for their company. i said sure i would give it a shot and its my first time, im using ms office publisher 07 to build it with and i would always do a perview of it to make sure it was displaying right in the browser, well i finally got the site built its res is 1024/768 since its a common res and i dont know how to make a liquid or even a self centering site, anyways i just got dreamworks cs5 and since the site was already done i opened it in dreamworks and perviewed it and it looked and worked good. so using publisher i published the site and saved the files to desktop. i clicked on the published file index and it opened the browser and looked and work good in ie9 and mff so i decided to uploaded it to a free hosting site to test it one more time but this time online before uploading on my freinds server, so i uploaded the files using the site's builted in ftp loader, well all the files and indexs uploaded fine but when you open the site ojects are missing and some of the same pics will display on one page but wont load on other pages , so i need your expert help and knowlege to try to fix the site

The work on my website will require flash/animation inserts. They will be self-building PowerPoint slides. Which of your samples includes or comes closest to that?

I had told him that I cannot give a price without knowing all details, how many pages, images, if the need animation e.t.c and I still don't know but that is mainly how it's done here in NY, people tell you next to nothing and ask you what you will charge, how would you guys handle this please?

Hi, I am building a site from some artwork that was supplied to me for a website that will ultimately be transformed into a theme for silverstripe but now the client has changed their mind and wants a static HTML version put into immediate action for the time being... problem is that the design is giving me massive headaches in building the basic structure for the site. There are aspects of the design that I am struggling to re-build, such as diagonal lines that stretch from one menu to another... Can any one help suggesting answers to such problems... Have attached some of the code and a PDF of the example artwork (please note I have been construction and reconstructing / deconstructing this code for a few days now and I fear it is beginning to look like it -messy )...

I have a timesheet template that I have converted from word to html. I'd like to make it so users can type onto the sheet though and print it off showing their name/hours/dates etc. The template is similar looking to this

I have a feeling this can be done using javascript but havent a clue how. Or, can I just make text boxes that allow a user to type into but wont be shown on the print out?

I'd like it so only the timesheet is printed off with all the entered data rather than any other parts of the website.
