HTML - Iframe Linking Issue
Hi All...
Was hoping for some help with an iFrame question. I'm a bit of a n00b with web design so please forgive me. I have: home.html - with an iframe containing products.html Withing products.html (in the iframe) I have a link which I want to link to a new page which also has a iframe. This I can do but I want the link to open the new page and a page within the new iframe of my choosing. I hope this makes sense to somebody... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Richard Similar TutorialsI'll do my best to explain this. I have an iframe and its source changes a lot. I want to have a link that will take you to the source of the iframe, whatever it may be at the time. This has been kicking at me for some time and I thought it was time to ask for help, it's probably something simple that I'm just not getting. Thanks in advance! Hello everyone, I am currently building a site that has a iframe in it. Unfortunately no matter what I try it is always linking to the sites 404 page. Here is the code I am using. Code: <iframe src="sulphurmountaingps.html" width="600" height="400" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"> <a href="sulphurmountaingps.html">Click here for the map</a> </iframe> Now I currently have the second page in the same folder as the HTML page it is being called from since it started in its own directory but eventually ended up here by trying to weed out what the problem could be. So I really cant see what I could be missing. Its a very simple iframe code calling a page that is in the same directory. Any help or suggestions would be great, Thank you Peter Can't seem to find any info on this through Google, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out: What I want to do is have a link at the bottom of the main page which will load whatever html file that is currently in the iframe up by itself. So for example, if the photo page is loaded up in an iframe, you could click said link and it would load up the photo page HTML by itself. But if a video page was loaded up in the iframe, i could click the same link and it would load the video page HTML by itself. The page I'm working on is http://www.cdi-imaging.com/OnSession...PriceGude.html Loaded in my iframe is /OnSessionProofs/Daylily/PriceGude/11ozWhite.html How would I *link* that to the White Ceramic text on the left? Same thing for the rest, i.e. Ringer mug= /11ozRinger.html I want the page to load the small HTMLs in the Iframe (the blue rectangle) when the appropriate text is clicked. Thanks, Casey Dwayne Hello all! My 1st post. I have an iframe embedded on my webpage of a .html manual and I would like to be able to have the manual open to certain anchors within it when a given page on my website is visited. Here is the iframe code I have that will open up the manual but then the visitor has to scroll to the topic covered: <iframe name="FRAME1" src="../r6manual/TTM Mixer.14.05.html" width="1100" height="600" frameborder="0" ></iframe> Here is the anchor code on the TTM Mixer.14.05.html that I would like to be showing when the page is visited. <div class="Subhead"><a name="468813">Dynamics section</a></div> Thank you so much for your time, Matt. Hello all. I'm relatively new to HTML, but have so far managed to create an index page with a navigation bar and IFRAME to hold content (in seperate HTML files). Using "target=" and "<div id=" I can successfully navigate through the content being displayed in the IFRAME. However, I also want the functionality to use a URL (passing parameters) to open the index page and display the desired content in the IFRAME without having to navigate through the menu. To give an example, I write match previews for a rugby site and would like to provide a link on other sites that will take them straight to the index but display the match preview within the IFRAME immediately. I'm not asking anyone to write this for me, but would like some guidance as it's starting to frustrate me. Thanks in advance, Tony. Hi Guys, Just need a little help with my IFrame page. I have a basic layout page with the banner up the top, and my buttons running down the left hand side of the page. The rest of the page is an "IFRAME" to an external page. Basically the site im building is putting in a webcart wich has been outsourced. So you get all the cart stuff and you just have to build your site around it and embed it in a site. So anyway to my question, I need to link the buttons on the Index.html page to a page in the IFRAME page, then the user isnt reloading the same page with different main content just that iframe. Is there actually anyway of doing this? or am i just stuck creating different pages? Im also using dreamweaver 8 if this is any help. Thanks Now here is my problem. I'm not familiar with other laguages then html and a little bit of javascript and I wanted to make a site for me and my brothers photography company. I currently using dreamweaver and have figured out the way I want to make this site. I tried using ordinary frames, but I want the website to be aligned in the middle and I could make that happen. That is why I went into iframes and a regular table on the index page. My problem now is that I have several iFrames and I want a link from one to open in another. http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_d...e/iframes3.htm here is a link for this to happen, and the simple solution is to name the frame and then target the link. but I have tried that and when the link is from one iframe to another it won't work. If the link is on the index page and target the iframe then it works. Do you have any idea why this happens? I know it's possible since the link above does it. I have setup a basic pop up on a company test page that we are working with and the pop up only includes a link to open a new window with info. What I'm looking for is the html code for the link (image src) to close the pop up window when it's clicked on. I know that you can open a window off clicking the X or close button for the browser. I have yet to see code for an "a href" link to close the window. I would really appreciate any help on finding out how to pull this off. Thank so much. Mathew Shade Searcy Hi again. I'm having an issue getting my form to show up correctly..or at all. The page comes up OK but where the form should be i get a page cannot be displayed. the iframe is at the bottom. Code: <body> <div id="templatemo_wrapper"> <div id="templatemo_left_column"> <div id="site_title"> <h1><a href="index.html" target="_parent"> </a></h1> </div><!-- end of site_title --> <div id="templatemo_sidebar"> <div class="service_section"> <h2>Services</h2> <ul class="service_list"> <li><a href="#">Seamless Rain Gutters</a></li> <li><a href="#">Soffit and Fascia</a></li> <li><a href="#">Helmet and Gutter Screen</a></li> <li><a href="#">Many Color Options</a></li> <li><a href="#">10 Year Guarantee</a></li> <li><a href="#">Free Estimates</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="news_section"> <h2>Grade "A" Gutters</h2> <div class="news_box"> <br />23 Central Ave. S. <br />N <br />Office: <br />Cell: </div> </div> </div> </div> <!-- end of left column --> <div id="templatemo_right_column"> <div id="templatemo_menu"> <ul> <li><a href="index.html" target="_parent">Home</a></li> <li><a href="index.html" target="_parent">Guarantee</a></li> <li><a href="index.html" target="_parent">News</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Gallery</a></li> <li><a href="index.html" target="_parent">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="/estimate.html" target="_parent" class="current">Contact Us</a></li> </ul> </div> <!-- end of templatemo_menu --> <div id="templatemo_content_wrapper"> <div id="templatemo_content"> <h2>-Free Estimates-</h2> <iframe src='form/contactform.php' frameborder='0'width='100%' height='500'></iframe> </div> </div> I'm having a bit of trouble with an iframe. I'm wanting my iframe to automatically adjust to the height of whatever page loads into it. Is that possible? My code is as follows: HTML Code: <iframe src="test.html" name="_blank" width="656" height="100%"></iframe> I'm building all the page that should load in the iframe to be the proper width, but I was hoping to make the iframe automatically adjust to the height. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hi All, I have an iframe in my page. I change its height from a button inside the iframe using javascript. for example: parent.document.getElementById('iframe').style.height="100px"; The problem is that if the iframe height was 500px for example, and I changed it to 100px then the whole iframe is shrink down. I mean that the 100px are the top 100px but they are appear in the button of the iframe and there are 400px empty at the beginning. Any Idea how to change it? Thanks in advance Please help me understand! I'm trying to create a page that has several static height table rows and one row that has an iframe that I want to expand to fill the height of the browser window. Here is a link to the test page: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9536793/testWITHframe.html Here is the CSS used by the page: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9536793/test.css Here is the page loaded into the iframe of the main page: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9536793/testblankframe.html So, there are three rows at the top (Title, Menu, and Button rows). At the bottom are two rows (Bottom row and Copyright row). In the middle is the row that contains the iframe that I want to fill the page height. It works correctly in Firefox 4 and Chrome. However, in IE 9 (standards mode), the frame is too tall, so a scroll bar is added to the page and the bottom area is pushed off the end of the window. Bah IE!! If I take off the DOCTYPE, or use an older DOCTYPE, IE goes into Quirks mode, and then the page appears correctly (sort of). However, I'm trying to use HTML 5 rules, so I want to just use DOCTYPE html. I also need IE in Standards mode so that a charting tool that I am trying to use wiill work right. I just can't get all of the technologies to play together! Anyway, I know iframe are sometimes frowned upon, but we use a page layed out like this and then load various pages into the iframe based on what the user selects in the menu. I don't particularly like it either, but don't know a good alternative. (I'm open to suggestions for that as well). Any assistance with getting the height to fill the page (and no more) that will work in all IE (8 and 9 standards mode), FF, and Chrome would be appreciated. Thanks. Hi, and thanks in advance for any help. I'm new to the forum, and new to website building (though, as you will see, I can hardly even call it website building). I started building a site on google sites, and I'm having a strange issue in firefox. Here is the site: https://sites.google.com/a/absoluteinhouse.com/home/ The page works as I would like it to in Chrome and IE, but the dropdown menu doesn't appear in Firefox. The services tab should have a dropdown menue, but it never appears in Firefox. However, when you click to view that iframe in a new window, the dropdown works fine in firefox. So, that's why i think it's an issue with the iframe. I've checked the z-index, and that seems to be set fine (though I'm not too familiar with it, so I could be wrong) For those not familiar with google sites, you can't just paste in any code, but you can do almost anything through an xml file that functions through an iframe (i think that's the right terminology) To see the actual gadget, go to http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/...cy/gs.html#GGE and and open this gadget from url: http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadge...dropdown39.xml Any ideas on how to fix this? I know this is a strange way to get this result, but I like how it looks, and it was fairly easy - but, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated Hey everybody, I've been wrestling with the classic iframe border issue in IE for the past couple of days and desperately need to know if I've cracked it (browsershots is just getting slower and slower these days..) http://www.eveningtweed.com/lauratest/home.htm Are IE users on PCs seeing a border around the iframe which contains the 'workworkwork' line? I've ensured the CSS for the iframe is correct (frameBorder=0 with the camel case) as well as setting a 0 border on the page loaded into the frame itself. Jez I have 2 IFrames on a page. I am going to end up with a long list of shows to catch-up on. Is there a way I can embed an IFrame with the list, and when you click on a show, you it will change the Playing Show http://tiny.cc/catchup <---The page I am referring to. hi, i've a very simple html page, where i have an iframe. The problem is that i want to add some text below the iframe. however, my text keeps showing up on the right hand side of the iframe. i've looked at the tutorials discussing the tags available for iframe, but surprisingly, none seem to relevant to this. Code: <html> <body> <table border="0" cellspacing="10"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="left"> <td valign="top"> <iframe src="mySource.jsp" height="700" width="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto"></iframe> </td> </table> This should be displayed below the iframe but actually gets displayed on the right </body> </html> any help / guidance in this will be much appreciated. thanks in advance! hi again, i think that i know the answer to this question...but i needed reassuring. basically my website's hierarchy is pretty confusing but it seems to link fine on my computer and everything, then it didn't link on the school computers but i solved that problem because all that was wrong was the file pathways were different. Now however when my teacher tries to open my files, all she gets is that file that cant be found stuff. Do you think maybe the problem could be that my files are too complicated and that maybe i should put all my pages in one place and then all my other files in folders underneath those... please tell me your advice, with many thx Sam Below are two notepad docs. I want to add a link from one to the other. Whenever I add the <a href="..... "></a> nothing shows up when I view the webpage. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
