HTML - A Tricky Problem...
Lo there good folks.
As a part of relocating and redesigning the intro page to my website, I have come across a problem that I can't explain much less resolve. The page in question resides at www.hpjenssen.com The css for the page resides at www.hpjenssen.com/style_index.css The page HTML and CSS are both valid within their defined doctypes. The problem can best be described as browser specific to Apple Safari, as this is the only browser I've encountered it in so far. Try loading the page in any other browser and it looks like one solid image until you start mouseover on the links. In safari, you can see the frame where the info loads before you mouseover, it's only a slight color saturation variation from the correct display, but enough to be visible. Has anyone else come across this before? Any idea on how to resolve it? HP. I would have attached a screen, but I am working on a pc and not a mac at the moment, so I don't have safari here. Similar TutorialsHello! I'm using a simple template and adding/modifying as I go to create a small website, but I seem to have come across something which looks like a fundamental flaw in the way the page has been coded that I can't get round. I'm not yet good enough to be able to see how I can fix it. It might be really simple, but it's driving me mad! Basically, the template consists of an index page with navigation image, and in this page there is another page embedded - floatingpage.html. So the index page acts like a frame. As it is a very simple site with only a bit of text, I want to have all of my text in the floating page, with anchors to specific sections, linked to from the rolling navigation gif in index.html. However, these links won't work. I have put my anchors in the various sections of floatingpage.html that I want to link to, but the section in the index.html template which has been left blank for anchor links (in a rolling navigation gif) is of this format: <area shape="rect" coords="xx,xx,xx,xx" href="#anchorhere"> so basically this is telling the index page to look for an anchor within the index page, whereas the anchors I really want to point to are in the floating page. If I specify that the anchor is in floatingpage.html, the link merely leads to floatingpage.html on its own, i.e. not embedded in the index page. I'm sure this must be really simple to solve, but I just don't know how! I want the links to keep the floating page embedded in the main page, but simply scroll down to the correct anchor. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could give me a hand on this. Thanks so much!!! Sorry for posting to questions in a row... There's a certain web site that prohibits using this type of expression: <p style="color: white"> text </p> They do it to prevent invisible text. Is there any way around it? Thanks. I have one form, in that form I have 2 submit buttons, whenever each button is submitted. it sends all the form data to my action class/next form along with one hidden parameter. Now I want this hidden parameter to be different for each type of button. Lets say for button 1, i want this parameter' value as first. And for button2, i want this as second. How can I do this without using client side java script? Please suggest me, if anybody can do this. cant get this to fit please help correct errors <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Content-Type: text/html; Thank you very much.. NOTE: I tried doing this... <map name= 'url1' > <area shape= 'poly' coords= ' 0 , 0 , 50 , 0 , 0 , 50 ' href= 'url1.html' > </map> <a href= 'url2.html' > <img src= 'img.jpg' width= 50 height= 50 usemap= '#url1' > </a> but this only get 'url1' woring... Okay, I know that this problem is going to be really really easy, but I forgot how to do it. I use to own an older website and forgot the code. Anyways, I only know how to describe it. When I minimize the screen, it is minimizing the whole thing and collapsing it making the iframes smaller and the text fit into a smaller space. Most websites have a code (i don't know what it is) so that when someone minimizes their browser, it just makes the browser smaller and not the actual page. Here's what it looks like: http://www.freewebs.com/noeylani94/index.htm Try minimizing that and see how it looks. It collapses the whole page right? Can someone tell me the code how to fix it? Thanks =D I am testing my site in FF 3. I'm having two problems. 1.) Can somebody write me up code on how to fix this, it looks fine in IE, it should be in two columns side by side not one in each corner, you'll see it: http://www.bkriegtech.net/index.php?page=hosting 2.) All of the bullets for my design, shared hosting and reseller hosting are out of the content table. Why's that? What do I do to fix it? Again this is only in firefox. Hi all ; I want to have one button in the left side of the div and one in the right side how can I do that . I tried align command but it always aligns in one side . Anyone can help . EX : in the header of this site html forums logo is in the left side and the google adwords are in the right side ... Hi Could some one please have a look at the code for this site for me as it displays perfectly in IE6/7 but is so far off the mark in firefox, not tried any others. http://www.scottishconsumercredit.com/_dev_colin I can't see where I am going wrong thanks im completely new to this so forgive me.. this is my test code.. how do i get one div next to another? i want my icons, media, fashion etc.. .JPG on top of each other next to my welcome note.. this is my code Quote: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div align="center" id="navigation"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/news.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/anastacia.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/fanzone.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/graphics.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/site.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/internet.jpg" width="86" height="15" /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/refresh.jpg" width="86" height="15" /></div> <div align="center"><br /> </div> <div align="center" id="banner"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/bannerp1.jpg" width="720" height="133" /> <br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/bannerp2.jpg" width="720" height="63" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/bannerp3.jpg" width="720" height="146" /></div><div align="center" id="welcome"> <div align="center"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/welcome.jpg" width="213" height="143"/> </div> <div align="center" id="welcome"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/elite.jpg" width="213" height="145"/></div> <div align="center" id="welcome"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/topaffs.jpg" width="213" height="309"/></div> <div align="center" id="welcome"> <div align="center"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/disclaimer.jpg" width="213" height="229"/><br /> </div> <div align="center"><img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/icons.jpg" width="215" height="18" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/photos.jpg" width="215" height="17" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/media.jpg" width="215" height="17" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/lyrics.jpg" width="215" height="17" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/fashion.jpg" width="215" height="17" /><br /> <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Callum/My Documents/verenalay/forum.jpg" width="215" height="17" /></div> </body> </html> Ok, I am desperate for some advise / help. I work for a non-profit agency, and have created a website for an event we have yearly. This website works perfectly and views great in internet explorer 7, however, the text falls off the page at internet explorer 6. I have asked friends, who had me try different things, none of which have worked. If anyone has any advise please let me know. My other option is to rewrite this completely, or find a simple template and re-create this. The website is www.autoshow4arthritis.com Thanks so much! I'm designing this site http://www.vom.com/graphico the opening page looks just fine in Safari, Mozzilla, Internet Explorer for OS 9 in Mac Internet Explorer in OSX Mac, Firefox on both Mac and PC but the table in the bottom frame will not line up with the table in the top frame using Internet Explorer for PC. There have been numerous other problems also such as paragraphs turning into 2 word colums etc, but only when viewing in Internet Explorer on the PC. It just drives me nuts. This is very simple html coding. I'd love to get the opening page right as it will be the template for all other pages. HELP! My daughter is building a website for some kind of school competition and is having a problem with how a table is displaying in IE 9. It displays properly in Chrome and FF though so I'm not sure what the problem is. Keep in mind, she's just a junior in HS and used, by all accounts, some antiquated methods in constructing the page. That said, I'm hoping someone could offer some insight into the issue. The table should be centered and the same the width of the banner and menu. For Chrome and FF, the table is centered on the page when the viewing resolution allows all the content to fit without the need for a scroll bar. On the pages where a scroll bar is needed, the table is shifted to the left to accommodate the scroll bar and thus becomes off-centered. I was thinking that an i-frame could take care of this since the scroll bar would then be located on the inside of the i-frame. In Chrome and FF, maybe it would. However, in IE, the table is displaced to the left on all pages. Interestingly enough, the displacement is the same with and without a scroll bar. Sooooo, I would humbly ask those with knowledge of such things to offer advice or a solution to this problem. Much appreciation is extended in advance. Here is the link to the site: http://www.newtonyouth.zxq.net Ok, so I just bought a domain from eNom and well, I have no idea how add my url in the html to the template so my website is actually viewable. Please help :x thanks I know nothing about html really but i am working on developing a site and i can't get rid of this problem. I am not even sure if this is the correct forum to put this in! I have made a nav bar that goes horizontally. When someone hovers over the top, the entire contect of the site moves up about 5 pixels. This problem can be viewed here : http://www.djcarchitect.com/company/team/indexpage.html does ANYBODY know how I can fix this problem? Thank you so much. Hello! I'm having a <table><th>... problem. The font is always bold even thow i'm using a CSS style and i don't set it to bold. How can i avoid this? Thank you! I'm having trouble with the <hr /> tag. Whenever I add them on my page it screws up the scroll bar and the anchors that I have. The scroll bar is really large is if there isn't much text left. Then when you begin to scroll it jumps up, until you get to the bottom of the text. It also screws up my anchors. I know its a problem with the <hr /> tag because when I take them out, the page works fine. The code works fine in FF, but the problem is occurring in IE. Here is the code, I hope you can help.
