HTML - Creating A 100% Width/height Background

I can't have IE space my cols/row as expected:

I want that my cols/rows have an exact width/height, with the final col/row take the remaining space of the table (which I don't know exactly). This works well with Chrome and FF, but IE keeps spreading my cols/rows along the whole space as if the dimentsions I defined were minimum dimensions as opposed to exact dimensions.

eg:

I don't know if this question is posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.
I'm currently using iframe for my posting entries, and I can't figure out the script for auto height. I'm tired of setting the height by hand, every time my entries starts to stretch. Now regarding the width, would that be possible too? if not, I'm not too concerned. Most important is the height.

i have a javascript code which shows 10 recent post of my blog by RSS,
there is a advertise of that site at the bottom of it,
some friend told me to add : <div> tags to it and define width and height for it
and for the height change the number until the ad disappears...
also he told me to put the flow on "hidden"

but i don't understand much

Hi Guys

I would like to get the footer background on this site to stretch accross the full width of the browser, but as I have already applied a background image to the body then I'm not sure how to achieve this effect. At the moment I have a background image applied to the footer but I may take this out and just have a simple white strip which covers the full width.

Ok so here I am yet again with another mess on my hands. I know tables are tales of yore so I have recently dived into the world of divs. Well now I find myself with a coding issue that I could easily achieve with a table no problem.

If I was using a table I could set a BG image and then I could put text over the image or another transparent image over that. I am wanting to achieve the same effect but with divs. If I am not mistaken all I have to do is create a div and float another div on top of that div however this I am finding is not as easy for the CSS beginner. Mind you I am not new to programming. So how is it done?

im creatinh a box containing a text. The box must be wide enough to fill a text.

menu.style.width = tekst.length - this functioin gives the number of letters in text. So if the text is "hello" then the width is 5 pixels. But i need the widith of pixels needed to fit the text in a box. How can i do that?

Is there away to force my website to fit an Iphone screen when viewed on the iphone. At the moment the width doesn't full span the Iphones screen so it looks bad.

I'm slightly confused by this one. But i'm sure theres a hack out there to fix it.

Basically, in firefox and konqueror, running on kubuntu, the top navigation bar at http://www.tendervendors.com/dev/payroll.html displays correctly, and when you hover over it, it fills the li with a semi-opaque background.

This is correct.

Its done, by filling the a element, with a background-color and then applying opaque: 0.5;

The a element also has padding, which makes it fill out to the size of the li element, so the a element fills its portion of the ul, and looks like the li has the affect applied to it.

However, in opera, the right and left padding is correct, but the height padding doesn't work.

Does anyone know of a bug in opera that would be causing this problem, and possibly a code fix for it?

Is it possible to put a smaller background image on top (like in layers) of my old background image? I have a background image, but I want to put a smaller image on top of that one, but for it to be treated also as background image. This image is a black vertical rectangle, but is faded on the edges to give a transparency, so its a .png. So ultimately what I am trying to do is put this black rectanlge on top of my original background image and with the transparency on the edges of this image, be able to see my original background image. How can I do so? Also what I was thinking was that this faded background would be scaled to fit different screen sizes, so do "width: 75%"? Just so that it ALWAYS stays at 75% no matter what screen size it is viewed on. Is this the right approach towards getting this result?

To create a CMS in PHP, is the best way to do it to save sections of the html to either say either a db or text file. This seems a bit messy but maybe the best way, for example say i have this html and i want to have a user be able to add more images to their page by just uploading an image and clicking a button ........,

This would put the contents of all 3 text files into a single variable $f_final so that all i would need to do if i needed a new image added is add that images html to text3.txt.

This seems like a pretty good way of doing things, i assume this is how CMS systems are made pretty much??
