HTML - Creating A 100% Width/height Background
I have a background image written like
(<div style="background-image:url(gbackground.gif); width:100%; height:100%). the problem is that only the right side of the image stretches to fill out the right side of the browser window. as seen here only the right grey column stretches to fill out the browser window, while the left side stays at its original width. in the image the columns are equal width. any way i can fix this? thx. Similar TutorialsI've got another problem with my website. I've taken a screenshot that I wanted for my website background. But since it was took on my screen, it doesn't fill the screen on wider monitors. I'm just wondering if there's any information on auto-resizing a website background. Or is it a scirpt/CSS/php style thing? This problem seems abit more complex than me previous problem. I'm on a 19 inch monitor. Here is my website for those that have bigger screens than me. http://www.dawncraftmc.com/ Hi. Is it wrong to exceed the width or height of a <div>, or any other tag? For instance, I've got a <div>, which I set to 50px. Now this is more then I need, because it's only 1 line of text, but I'm using a background image with 50px in height in the <p> tag inside the <div> tag. However, I don't want the <div> tag to be 50px, only 25px. It's complicated to explain why I need it like this, and I probably haven't done it correctly, but my question is: is it okay for the contents inside a <div> tag to be wider/higher then the actual <div> tag? Thank you ;D Hello, If I measure height and width in % instead of pixels then it does not work in firefox. It only ends up displaying only small region of iframe instead of specified size. But this works perfectly fine on IE. Below is the code. <iframe id="theFrame" name="iframes" src="http://www.abc.org" align="top" height="94%" width="96%"></iframe> Thanks, Ruchir It seems to me all the browsers have no problems to display an image if (width & height) parameters are missing. What is the purpose of using (width & height)? Does it make website working faster? Thanks Hi everyone, How can I set a fixed width and height for the whole frameset: Code: <html> <frameset cols="25%,50%,25%"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_a.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_b.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_c.htm"> </frameset> </html> I'd like the frameset to be just 400 x 200 px. But when I insert the above code it covers my whole webpage. Also I'd like to put a border around the frameset. Your help is really appreciated! Regards Rain Lover I can't have IE space my cols/row as expected: I want that my cols/rows have an exact width/height, with the final col/row take the remaining space of the table (which I don't know exactly). This works well with Chrome and FF, but IE keeps spreading my cols/rows along the whole space as if the dimentsions I defined were minimum dimensions as opposed to exact dimensions. eg: HTML Code: <table><tr> <td width="100">100 desired</td> <td width="100">100 desired</td> <td>remaining space</td> </tr></table> any help? hello Every can any one tellme How can i make a webpage open in Fixed height and Width which is to be opened by a Hyperlink Example : like when you click On MORE link From The Smilies in this Forum it open a Small Window Resizeble Window I don't know if this question is posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm currently using iframe for my posting entries, and I can't figure out the script for auto height. I'm tired of setting the height by hand, every time my entries starts to stretch. Now regarding the width, would that be possible too? if not, I'm not too concerned. Most important is the height. If anyone have the answers to this please reply. Thanks in advance! (: dear guys: i have a javascript code which shows 10 recent post of my blog by RSS, there is a advertise of that site at the bottom of it, some friend told me to add : <div> tags to it and define width and height for it and for the height change the number until the ad disappears... also he told me to put the flow on "hidden" but i don't understand much can u help me out? here is an example: Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://rssReader.com/code.php?t=1&back=_fff&color=_444&box=_fff&max=10&rss=http://sokkan.ir/post/rss/' ></script> Hi All, Im just wondering what the standard Width and Height is for a website nowadays? Thanks in Advance Hi Guys I would like to get the footer background on this site to stretch accross the full width of the browser, but as I have already applied a background image to the body then I'm not sure how to achieve this effect. At the moment I have a background image applied to the footer but I may take this out and just have a simple white strip which covers the full width. The site: http://horizonwebsites.co.uk/soccerwaveuk/ The CSS: http://horizonwebsites.co.uk/soccerwaveuk/screen.css This is an effect I've wanted to use for a while now on several projects so if any one has done this or knows of sites that use it I'd be really keen to learn how. Thanks, Kev i want to be able to make a gradient left to right on my page background color, but am having no luck finding a reference page. what attributes would i add to my CSS file? thanks! The FlyerFly Hi All, Nice site BTW, my problem is i want to add some text with a background colour behind it but i want the background colour to stretch the full width of the page ? Can anybody help me out Thanks Ok so here I am yet again with another mess on my hands. I know tables are tales of yore so I have recently dived into the world of divs. Well now I find myself with a coding issue that I could easily achieve with a table no problem. If I was using a table I could set a BG image and then I could put text over the image or another transparent image over that. I am wanting to achieve the same effect but with divs. If I am not mistaken all I have to do is create a div and float another div on top of that div however this I am finding is not as easy for the CSS beginner. Mind you I am not new to programming. So how is it done? here is a link to the site I am working on DeeJayOctane I am wanting to put text on top of the image in the nav div. But yet again this alludes me for some odd reason. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks im creatinh a box containing a text. The box must be wide enough to fill a text. menu.style.width = tekst.length - this functioin gives the number of letters in text. So if the text is "hello" then the width is 5 pixels. But i need the widith of pixels needed to fit the text in a box. How can i do that? Hi, Is there away to force my website to fit an Iphone screen when viewed on the iphone. At the moment the width doesn't full span the Iphones screen so it looks bad. http://pjm.co.uk.uksite4.yourwebserv...splay&PageID=5 Thanks alot Joe Hi Everyone, I'm slightly confused by this one. But i'm sure theres a hack out there to fix it. Basically, in firefox and konqueror, running on kubuntu, the top navigation bar at http://www.tendervendors.com/dev/payroll.html displays correctly, and when you hover over it, it fills the li with a semi-opaque background. This is correct. Its done, by filling the a element, with a background-color and then applying opaque: 0.5; The a element also has padding, which makes it fill out to the size of the li element, so the a element fills its portion of the ul, and looks like the li has the affect applied to it. However, in opera, the right and left padding is correct, but the height padding doesn't work. Does anyone know of a bug in opera that would be causing this problem, and possibly a code fix for it? TIA Matthew Millar Is it possible to put a smaller background image on top (like in layers) of my old background image? I have a background image, but I want to put a smaller image on top of that one, but for it to be treated also as background image. This image is a black vertical rectangle, but is faded on the edges to give a transparency, so its a .png. So ultimately what I am trying to do is put this black rectanlge on top of my original background image and with the transparency on the edges of this image, be able to see my original background image. How can I do so? Also what I was thinking was that this faded background would be scaled to fit different screen sizes, so do "width: 75%"? Just so that it ALWAYS stays at 75% no matter what screen size it is viewed on. Is this the right approach towards getting this result? If anyone could take the time to answer this then much appreciated, it's pretty easy to read through, the php code is very basic and repeats itself in most places.. To create a CMS in PHP, is the best way to do it to save sections of the html to either say either a db or text file. This seems a bit messy but maybe the best way, for example say i have this html and i want to have a user be able to add more images to their page by just uploading an image and clicking a button ........, HTML Code: <table> <tr> <td> <img src = "i1.jpg" ></td> </tr> </table> Now i could save, HTML Code: <table> <tr> to say text1.txt and HTML Code: </tr> </table> to text2.txt, and the images to say text3.txt, HTML Code: <td> <img src = "i1.jpg" ></td> i could then say something like, PHP Code: <?php $fname = "text1.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr1 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); $fname = "text2.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr2 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); $fname = "text3.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr3 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); $f_final= $fr1.$fr3.$fr2; echo $f_final; ?> This would put the contents of all 3 text files into a single variable $f_final so that all i would need to do if i needed a new image added is add that images html to text3.txt. This seems like a pretty good way of doing things, i assume this is how CMS systems are made pretty much?? So basically i could have a user frontend "addimg.html" which is for adding the image, HTML Code: <form method="post" action ="newimage.php"> <input tpye = "text" name = "img1"> <input type = "submit"> </form> and then a modified version of the above php, PHP Code: <?php //save new image name to text3.txt *********** $newimgge_to_ADD = $_POST["img1"]; $fname = "text3.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,a); fwrite($fo,"\r\n".'<td> <img src = "'.$newimgge_to_ADD.'.jpg"> </td>'); fclose($fo); //********************** //Open all the text files one by one and save their contents to a variable ***** $fname = "text1.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr1 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); $fname = "text2.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr2 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); $fname = "text3.txt"; $fo = fopen($fname,r); $fr3 = fread($fo,filesize($fname)); fclose($fo); //****************** //Combine the contents of all 3 varables to one varable f_final ********** $f_final= $fr1.$fr3.$fr2; //********************* //Print out the result ********************* echo $f_final; //************************** ?> This would need a good bit of tweaking but i just want to know if i am on the right tracks.. Code: <p> <a href="images/Barbel/Barbelflies_Page1s.jpg" rel="thumbnail" title="Testing"> </a> </p> <p> <a href="images/Barbel/Barbelflies_Page1b.jpg" rel="thumbnail" title="Testing of all"> <img src="images/Barbel/Barbelflies_Page1s.jpg" width="165" hight="200" /> </a> </p> I have the above code and I want to know how can I get this line Code: <a href="images/Barbel/Barbelflies_Page1b.jpg" rel="thumbnail" title="Testing of all"> to show the image full screen when i click on the smaller image. |
