HTML - Html Text Editors
Hi all,
I'm looking for a powerful but user-friendly text editor for HTML. One feature I especially need is the ability to use wildcards in both the search and replace strings. Any advice or recommendations? Thank you. Lance Similar TutorialsI'm using WYSIWYG, please look at my webpage he http://www.nwvisuals.com/ You'll notice that the text below the images gets all over the place if you (A) Have resolution that is not 1024x768 (B) Not in full-screen mode Which is really really bad for me. Should I fix it with basic HTML'ing? Is this the downfall of WYSIWYG editors? Hello. will someone offer some good HTML text editor? (Like Kate) but for windows? Thank you Hello. =) I was wondering: is there an HTML editor that can create this layout (and other similar layouts) in WYSIWYG format, and by using DIVs?: I'm a complete beginner with HTML editors, but I'm intermediate with actual HTML code. For several years, I've been creating webpages by hand, WITHOUT using an HTML editor. That means I use my prior knowledge, type the code into NotePad, and then physically open/check/edit/refresh my pages as I go. Since I know a lot of code (and my typing speed is 65 words per minute), I always figured this method was faster (and less frustrating) than using an editor and going to File -> Edit -> Insert -> Table -> 4 Rows, 3 Columns. However, building pages by hand has a lot of negatives: I can't easily detect mistakes/typos; it gets very tiring; etc. So I really NEED to learn how to use HTML editors, and I want to start with something basic. When I say "basic", I want something that will allow me to create DIVs, iFrames, etc. -- in WYSIWYG format. I've used the following free HTML editors, and none of them let me make DIVs in WYSIWYG format : CoffeeCup HTML Editor Kompozer PageBreeze Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Amaya NotePad++ (as a side note, this program has so many options, I got confused/frustrated) I've been using tables to make my layouts for years, but I heard that's "incorrect" so I'm starting to use DIVs now. But, I'm still new to DIVs -- which means they really confuse me and I HATE THEM (? - why are there are SO MANY "float:" and "position:" rules?!! And unlike tables, DIVs don't automatically match the width of the text inside them! By default, DIVs stretch and fit the entire page width! AND, DIVs aren't any smaller than tables!!!). Anyway, since I'm new to DIVs, that means if I manually create them, chances are I'll get it wrong...so I have to keep checking/editing/refreshing the pages. Which is why I need a WYSIWYG DIV creator; it'd be great if I could draw a rectangle and the editor understands that, "Okay, this 'rectangle' is a DIV and she wants it in EXACTLY this spot". Most of the editors I listed above are free and/or so basic that I can't even add DIVs. All I can do is make a boring, one-color, one link class page. And I never saw "Insert: DIV" option anywhere, which means I'd have to type the
tags myself. And that's not saving me any time. So, that's my dilemma. I REALLY need to start using HTML editors, preferably one that's free, WYSIWYG, lets me "draw" DIVs, and allows me to switch between Visual Mode and HTML Mode (so I can see exactly how they made the DIVs). If anyone has suggestions or advice, please let me know! (By the way: you CAN mention programs that aren't free. Although I'm broke, I'll write them down until I can afford to buy them!) Thanks in advance! I have several websites that I maintain and update. A lot of them are just textual changes and I would think my customers can do these themselves by editing a simple .txt file. I was hoping my choices are avalable so that I can just insert this tag into my web pages and then give them login info to their edit page or show them how to upload the .txt file. I hope this is an easy one with several answers. Is it possible these tags could discipline your rankings in the search engines? Thanks, Jason i have a lot of text files(2-400) all have quite alot of text inside them so is there some software that can help me convert it all into html pages?? somthing that i am doing right now is: copied all of my text files pasted them into other location and editing each file and giving extention html/htm. now can u tell somthing better?? all the files will open in same frame(obviously one at a time), all have styling n everything same. Hi everyone, I've been searching around the web trying to find out how I can send using Outlook a html and text email newsletter automatically. I am quite happy creating html only newsletters, and text ones for that matter, but I have been digging and believe that by using multi-part code I can send to both and the recipients email client "allows" whichever version to be displayed - does this sound right? I'm hoping to simply create the html with the relevent mime references and boundaries (dont know what they are but have seen them on enough Google'd pages to know that they mean something!) and then copy and paste into Outlook - the newsletter is only going out to a few people at a time. Any suggestions or advice would be very greatly appreciated. Regards Allan i just started working on addicted2ally.com, and for some reason, my index.html is showing the text of the html instead of well, doing it lol helppp!? Hi everybody, I've invented a means of converting HTML to keywords. http://4nf.org/tool/ What do you think of it? Any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance and kind regards HTML to look at text or xml file - is there a way of creating a HTML tag or Div to look at another text file that can be easily edited as the source to the content. Basically a paragraph that can be easily edited by someone who doesn't understand html that affects paragraphs in divs on a web page. - could someone point me in the right direction - I can't seem to get my head around what I need being only a tuesday and not getting stuck into the week. Thanks in advance... Hi, I've been trying to set up a page where I have my e-mail address on one side of the page and my phone number on the same line but on the other side of the page. The e-mail address aligns left automatically, and when I use
, it moves the phone number down onto the next line. <align=right> on its own does nothing. Does anyone know the code to align right without bumping the text down to the next line? Thank you so much for any help you can provide. Michael Hi, I added a rich text editor into my html page for text area fields, let us say description field. The user enters the text, modify its color, changes its size and fonts... The value saved for this field in the database is: description text and is showing as it is on the screen. If I look at the source code of the page, I notice the following: description text The problem is that, there are two conversions happening: < Converted To < > Converted To > How should I avoid this conversion so that the description text appears in its right format taking into consideration the html tags. Note: in the head of the page, I have the following: I would appreciate any help. Best Regards, Lara Looking for the html code for center text, and text size. I want to center some text and increase its size from normal. Hi. I have NO experience with website building, but i need to build a site. I am using wix and I think it's turning out pretty well. However, I now need to create a box for people to fill out specific info for others to see. Ill explain what it'd look like, and hopefully you have the time to post a code??? thanks a lot if you do. It's look like this: We need: (here we would post for others to see what we need. somehow i guess i need to have administrator privileges to edit what is said. For example, "We need a baseball bat.") People see that then they need to "check" the box next to it to say they have it, and the click "okay". When they click okay i want it to link them to a login page where they fill out contact info(address, phone, email, date of availability, etc) once they do that then i want the box to appear shadowed/crossed out/whatever so that others viewing the site don't check the same box that someone else checked. Hope that makes sense. Thats the basic idea of it. All help is so greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! Hi All, I have come across a scenario where user enters credit card number. So I need to display user typing text (card number) as "*" in the text box. So I went and coded as password field since password box always mask user inputs. But on hitting submit button, Mozilla firefox browser shows a pop up if I need to remember the password or not. My client dont want to display this pop-up. Can anyone pls tell me how to create a text box (not password box) to show user input as "*" so that it looks like as password box. Thanks in advance.
