HTML - Expert Advice On Website Issues
Hello,
I am trying to design a website for my fathers company and I am having some issues with the photogallery section. I used a template for the overall design, and when I want to add pictures horizontally it screws up all the images with their space in between them as well as the alignment of the whole website itself. Any help would be most appreciated I am trying to do this as a surprise!!! The website is: www.ckmjconstruction.com Similar TutorialsI'm wanting to make a professional website, close to the look/style of fkn0wned.com but with alot of pages and info. I DONT want someone to be able to steal it so I'm not sure what to code it in, php, css, ect. Whats the best to code in for professional websites? any ideas? There may not be many believers anymore but its all about and for God and Jesus, and other things such a help with depression, suicide, abuse, ect. Just a place to help people. I already have a few people thats going to help moderate it. Though the other site I made a long time ago, people just kept spamming porn everywhere and I couldnt stop them because they kept changing their IP, so I had to get rid of it. Anyway to stop that? But if you would like to join the team and help create it, I'm buying the domain name and hosting so I just need help making the site and moderating it and such. If you would like to join the team to help moderate or help build it then please PM me, I'd really like to use your talents , because alot of you are great at this stuff I plan on going far with this on such as having shirts made and weeky email messages, maybe a chat room with this program I could buy. So if youd like to help please post pr PM me, please dont flame, if you dont understand or think this is stupid then dont bother posting, God has changed my life 100% completly and I'm a new person, getting married, never been more happier. And this is a site to get people into God and help them with Him, this has NOTHING to do with religion. Like I said please dont flame, I'm just trying to do something good and nice. Thanks. Ive been asked to fix up an old webpage. The old web master is a bit senile and can not complete the page. I had created a php page but the server is so old that it doesnt support php. I want a page with a simple leftnav and I need to add a photogallery with thumbnails... anyone have any advice for me? Are there any good free templates out there that could do all this for me? Or maybe some good tools? Thanks in advance Hi all, Please excuse all of my ignorance. I am teaching myself (and being taught by nice people like yourselves) on html and website building. Mods, I was unsure as to where to put this and apologize if I am in the wrong section. This will be a semi long post as I have lots of questions for all of you. I will organize it into sections in hopes to get a more detailed response. The Background I have experience with basic html and have (until now) only used free web servers with web site building tools and just used html for templates and buttons etc. I run my own fish/aquarium supply business and wanted my own .com name instead of a sub-domain. So my better half bought me a a domain and basic hosting package from godaddy.com -I am running OS X on a powerbook via safari and firefox. -My host is at godaddy.com -I am confused and in need of help. The Problem Well, so far for me being "good" with websites what a joke that was. Without a web site editor software like the free sub-domains come with I am lost. I understand a html editor would be the best and easiest way to make pages for my site? -My main problem is I cannot get html documents onto my website. I understand I should be using FTP? I have tried with no success, I am unsure as to which folder to even move the page to, I dont even know which one is my home page *Blushes* -I am very new to FTP and would like some advice for the best way to transfer HTML to a site. -I also dont know how to name the page i.e.: mypage.com/AboutUs.html (How do call the page "about us") -I have tried looking around on go daddy for some answers and havent found much info besides it telling me to use FTP to upload files. I must not have done it right because i am still getting the "oops this site isnt up yet" message. If you couldnt tell I need a lot of help. I really just need to know how to get my first few pages up and running....I just dont know how to get the files from where they are on my computer to my site, since the package I have doesnt have a website builder/software. If your willing to educate me, Im willing to learn. All help is appreciated and feel free to laugh at my ignorance. Im doing my best. Drew P.s. Do you need the name of my site in order to help me? If so, Am I allowed to even post the name of my site for reference purposes? I am trying to make 2 very different websites. first one an auction site. I DONT WANT TO USE EBAY its too expensive i need a cheap auction software that will let multiple users register and be able to upload there own pictures of products they are trying to auction off. second i need to see if there is a program that i can integrate into my website where people login and can make there own website by using templates that are customizable such as colors and pictures and information and letting them be able to upload it themselves. Can anybody help me please. thank you. I know html and the easy stuff what i need is if you know any program like this or a place that will show me step by step how please let me know thank you. Hi this is my first website its part of a school competition, my problem is that i cannot get it to work with IE, the javascipt refuses to run and I dont know where its going wrong. Also is there a way to do drop shadows quikly in IE, or will I have to put in alpha gradiants, I fear they may be extreemly hard to do, due to the nature of the dynamicaly resizing divs. http://www.f1octaneracing.com/index.html Hello. =) I'm trying to create a small website for my family, and I want to incorporate this drop-down menu from Sons of Suckerfish. I had some help altering the menu a bit, but I'm still having a few problems. =( I'm testing my site in as many browsers as possible, and I came across two major problems: Problem #1: The Top Menu It doesn't work in IE6. The menu keeps jumping VERY far to the right. Also, the words "Home", "By Year", etc. should change color when hovered on. You can observe the differences between IE6 and Firefox below, in these images I made: Menu (mouse issues; example #1) Menu (mouse issues; example #2) =================================== =================================== Problem #2: The "Thanks" Section My "Thanks" section isn't looking right, either. For some reason, Netscape won't space the image away from the text: Image (how "Thanks" page looks in IE, Firefox, and Netscape) I know Netscape Navigator is pretty much "extinct" now, but I'm still curious to know what the problem is. I'm guessing the problem is the "display: inline-box" code in my DIV tag. Is there another code I can use to fix this problem, or maybe there's a hack I can use for Navigator? Or...should I stop using DIVs and acheive the same effect another way (like with a table or something)? I really hope someone can help. Thanks in advance! Hey all, I'm new here, and I love the layout of this website! I like the bright colors! Anyway... I created a website layout/site in Photoshop CS 5. The website: www.thegarbagedump.net I saved it as a html & images.. The issue I am having is when you click one of the bottons I want it to open the html document and display it within that square area with the border around it. I know I probably need a frame to do this, however I dont know how to add a frame, and it appears photoshop saved it in tables.. Could you please review the html source, and tell me how/where to add a frame, and make the Home, About, Domains button appear within that square area with the border? Thank You, Justin Hey all, I was wondering if anybody had any pointers on this website I've been building. It looks alright so far in Firefox, but I've had some issues in IE. The link is: http://www.totaros.com/totaros new/index.html Specifically, -The image distortion on the menubar-what are the best types of images to save these as for compatibility in IE? -The menubar not resizing in IE with different resolutions -Aligning text next to pictures (such as on the Entertainment page). This works in FF, but not in IE. -Any other problems noticed. Thank you! Ok I really need someone to go over my homepage and pick out any bad coding and explain what it should be, Like I said just the homepage because I gotta do lots of work on the other pages. http://www.Online-Multiplayer.com Thanks in advance for any help. Hi I'm not web guru (this will become obvious shortly), but I'm doing a website project for my school assistantship. For the most part, it's solid for my needs and the committee I'm working for. Here it is: http://people.umass.edu/luke/PEP/index.html But there are 2 problems: 1) the UMass Amherst Banner on the top spreads the width of the page when viewed in IE, and 2) the Menu moves up and down with the links in varying degrees depending on the browser. I can't fix them. I know people are busy and have lives and I wouldn't be posting if I hadn't tried everything in my faculties to solve these issues. If you have suggestions, it would save me embarrassment and a LOT of time. Thanks so much for reading! I'm building a sea kayaking website, and its all good and well except for my kayak model guide. Hey everyone! I own an airbrush graphics shop and decided to make my own website rather than pay for someone to do it for me so I've read a ridiculous amount of info on html but still need help. Heres my website twizteddezign.com I just got dreamweaver 8 and redesigned the site but uploaded from nvu because all my ftp settings were in nvu. Now for some reason I cant get the pages centered in dreamweaver or nvu (Im sure its something REALLY stupid) so could someone help me out with that? I know there are probably a hundred other things I could do better also, but like I said I'm an airbrush artist-not a web designer so any other tips would be great also. Thanks in advance I really appreciate it. I have a website up www.sheridangroupdc.com When I use safari the bottom corner doesn't always display. I'm wondering if someone could provide some insight as to why this is happening. Thanks so much. the code for that portion is as follows... HTML Code: <div id="index_bottom_container_02"> <div id="index_right_text"> <div id="text_header"><img src="images/headers/new/index.jpg"/></div> <div id="txt_index_02"><img src="images/index_text.jpg" /></div> </div> <div id="index_right_flash"><img src="images/footer_small.jpg" alt="sheridan footer" /></div> </div> Hello, I have recently been asked to run the website for my church. (peacegaylord.org) If you go there, you will notice how simple it is. If you look at the source, it is REALLY messed up. I asked the previous webmaster and he said all he had done was take the one created in Word by our pastor, and converted some of the tags to work with older browsers. What this leaves me with is very messy and jumbled code. Now, what I really want to do is to simple re-write the entire site. If I did this I would: Use a style sheet instead of in-line styling Use non-deprecated tags (Obviously) Change the layout completely General clean-up/re-styling etc. Note: If I did this, I would try to make the entire thing HTML 5 compliant. However, a large amount of the people that use the site are older individuals, who may have old computers and therefore, old browsers. I know there is a way to make a browser recognize new tags by adding some javascript, but which tags would I have to do this with? OR I could simply go through and clean the current version up. What my question is: What would some of you do? If you would do the complete re-write, what kind of things would you add? Just looking for some advice Edit: The site is currently down as I am editing it a bit. Edit2: Site back online.
