I am sick of searching on google and w3c.org for solutions. I am asking anyone who is a pro at web developing to help me out! Problem I am using loadVars in Flash, from a *.html file. Mainly because the server does not support PHP and because in HTML I can have comments. I am spacing out the text like so, for readability: &variable1=value1 &variable2=value2 &variable3=value3 etc. when I do the line breaks, the HTML page automatically encodes whitespaces. I need an HTML tag or possibly CSS or Javascript that will get rid of all the whitespaces. Or if it is possible, as I was looking on w3c.org, there might be a text/content type or url-encode type that will do this, but haven't found one. If anyone has any ideas, I need them. Again, I am trying to remove all the whitespace in the ENTIRE page. I have built a table and it is doing something strange and I would like to know why. It is creating an extra line of blank space before displaying the text in a cell. This cell is within a table that is nested within another table. It's strange because it only has this behavior in Firefox, but not in IE. When I remove this nested table and put it in an HTML file all by itself, the behavior goes away, and the text butts up against the top of the cell like it is intended. The cell in question has nothing but text within it. If I take the original HTML file away from the style sheet it's linked to and away from all the images associated with it, and simply paste the HTML file to my desktop and open it, the blank line is still there. One other thing that is strange to me--when I open the "naked" file from my desktop in IE, IE creates placeholders for all the missing image files so I can see what's going on. When I open the file in FireFox, there are no placeholders, but rather it just recreates the table and shrinks it as if the images are not even there. I'm not exactly sure what code is creating the blank line, otherwise I would post it. So short of pasting in my entire HTML document, I thought I'd describe it and see if anyone has any ideas or may be able to give me some clues. If none of this does any good without the code in question, I'd be happy to post some. Thanks! My site name is juicersuperstore.com, I have an image right in the center of the site but there is extra blank space on top and at the bottom of the image and I have tried desperately to fix that but I ave not been able to. From the page source, the area with the blank space looks like this <td width="100%" valign="top"> <table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1"> <tr> <td><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr><td><div align="center"><img src="images/Template-1_21.jpg" alt="" border="0"></div> </td></tr> <tr> <td><img src="images/pixel_trans.gif" border="0" alt="" width="100%" height="10"></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="mphead"><!-- D Main_page //--> <img alt="shop for juicers for low low prices" border="0" height="330" src="http://www.juicersuperstore.com/images/frontpic.jpg" title="juice superstore" width="520" /><img alt=" " border="0" src="https://www.juicersuperstore.com/admin/" /> <!-- Main_page eof //--> </td></tr> <tr> <td><img src="images/pixel_trans.gif" border="0" alt="" width="100%" height="10"></td> </tr> The middle image name is frontpic.jpg, please any help would be very appreciated. Thanks In IE 7, some of my pages are displaying white space at the top of the page. Some pages show more than others... I cannot seem to figure out why. Two examples: http://labsysgrp.com/contact_us.php http://labsysgrp.com/newsletters_archived.htm Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! Hi All! I have a question about the (white) space above any text. I don't know if its possible or not but i hope yes... Please look at the attached picture. You can see the space between the text and the black border on the top... I tried padding, margin set to zero but nothing worked! Maybe its not possible to remove it? Thanks in advance! Everything else has been great there is just one problem Mozilla Firefox shows it the way it should but IE keeps showing extra white space on top of my menus. Explain why this is and give me a solution and I know that negative margins is not the right solution so don't suggest that . thanks, I have white space around my images with the grey border. I put in a picture that was larger than the previous cell size than removed it (the width and height code as well) but it still leaving the white space around the left and right sides of the images. http://www.diversink.com/publications.htm this is the page i'm working on Any ideas to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated Thank you, Rainseed I have an image above a table and I want the image to be physically touching the table border, however there are about 5 pixels of white space above the table. I can't figure out how to remove them. Here's the code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. <img src=logo.jpg> <table border=1 bordercolor="#3C5581" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width=740> Guys, hello to everyone in this forum. this my first thread rising a question. please clear my doubt. when im adding the <form> or </form> tags in the code it leaves a empty line (ie) an white space. this occurs only in IE, not in firefox. im using the Doctype: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> So guys plz give me a solution to remove the empty line.. -makkal Hi everybody! I'm doing a page and IE keeps putting more space in between table cells than I have specified. Here's the link: http://renewforest.com/test The page is basically a table in a div layer, I have made the table have a 2px cellspacing, it works great for the top 3 cells but puts a few pixels after these first 3 cells, destroying my nifty 2 pixel separation. Also, I have given some cells (the td.topfade attributed ones that is) some left and right padding, BUT NO TOP PADDING, yet Safari and Firefox both put in some padding on the top. Oddly enough, IE obeys the CSS'ed padding, huh. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! (Because this also deals with CSS I am posting this to the CSS section as well, if this is a big no no please let me know.) I have a slight HTML problem that I cant figure out...There is this white-space above my text area that I cant figure out how to get rid of... Can someone please help me and tell me what I am missing or how to fix it... Here is a screenshot of where the whitespace is... Here is a link to the HTML file in zipped format http://www.pstsync.com/index.zip the Site is : http://www.PSTSync.com thanks Ishan When I use display:none...it leaves a blank space of what would be there other wise...i tried using visibility: none also...couldnt get it to work.. any help would be great as google isnt very useful on this one. thanks! Hi, I'm coding a HTML page, in which I see lot of space between my header(<h2></h2>) and the contents of the page. The contents of my page happens to be a form with a lot of fields enclosed in the table tag.. Any pointers on how to get rid of the extra space would be highly helpful. this is how the structure of my HTML code looks: <html> <body> <form> <table> <!-- a lot of fields here...--> </table> </form> </body> </html> Thanks in advance. On every other page, my table around my content works, but on the main page: http://www.snowwhitedesign.com there is a lot of white space below my image. My entire image is broken down into 3 x 3 images, 9 total in the grid. All images have different heights and widths I constructed the table by first creating the larger table with the blue border, and then created separate vertical tables within each vertical <td> since the images are of different heights. Also, how can I get rid of that small border line running right through the middle of my image? thanks! Hi, I'm having some white space issues with a fairly straight forward website. I have a header which includes a logo, then a navigation bar below that at the top of my website. In Firefox there is extra space at the top of my website, but not in IE or Safari. Now, my navigation bar uses Javascript to animate the mouseOver images. If I take out the Javascript functions defined that makes this work, then there is no space at the top in Firefox! This Javascript code is within the <head></head> tags. I hope someone can help with this, thanks! |
