HTML - Firefox Mac Browser Difficulties
http://taras.shacknet.nu/~public1/plpp/collectinfo.html
This is a page I'm building. FYI, this is my second version of the page, I messed up a few things in the first revision and just started over with a brand new file. The same problem happened in the first revision. This page opens up fine in Firefox and IE for Windows, and Safari for Mac. In Firefox for Mac, well, it always just comes up as a blank. Any ideas? FYI, the main website page is http://taras.shacknet.nu/~public1/plpp/ There is a link near the bottom that goes to the page in question. Thanks! Similar TutorialsI have the following link, which according to my research, is correct but throws up an error. However, I may very well have missed something obvious: Code: <a href="mailto:emailaddress@gmail.com?subject=BME%20Sponsorship%20Opportunities&body=Please%20contact%20me%20regarding%20Bendigo%20Motorcycle%20Expo%20Sponsorship%20opportunities.%0A%0AMy%20contact%20details%20are%20as%20follows:%0A%0AName:%0A%0ATel:%0A%0AEmail:%0A%0AThanks."> When the link is selected, the mail window opens with the correct details in the subject line and the body but the following within the 'To' email address field: Code: <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- var prefix = 'ma' + 'il' + 'to'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy48579 = 'emailaddress' + '@'; addy48579 = addy48579 + 'gmail' + '.' + 'com'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy48579 + '\'>' ); document.write( addy48579 ); document.write( '<\/a>' ); //-->\n </script> <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '<span style=\'display: none;\'>' ); //--> </script>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '</' ); document.write( 'span>' ); //--> </script> This is placed in an article in Joomla which accepts HTML but I'm not convinced it's related to the CMS. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. I've had a few different problems with this page. In an earlier version, I had the bottom content contained in a div called 'bottom'; however, in IE this created an unwanted gap between the two top divs and the bottom one that I couldn't figure out how to get rid of. So I tried something else, and I thought I had it figured out. This layout works well enough in FF ((still needs a bit of work, but nothing I don't already know how to do, just haven't gotten to it yet)), but it displays weird in IE. I know that adding the proper doctype fixes the problem, but I don't have that option. The webhost I have to work with isn't the best, and thus I need a way to make this display properly in quirks mode in IE. My problem is the image that appears on it's own row in the middle of the page, it should be in the same row as the two images directly below it. Here's my code: Code: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1"> <meta name="generator" content="Adobe GoLive"> <title>Berean Baptist Church</title> <style type="text/css"> #all{ width: 755px; I know that would work and I could do that, but I think it would work just as well to stick to the table-based layout that's up on our site now rather than bothering with extra scripts. I created a website with google pages http://jlandbirk.googlepages.com/cross It works fine in Explorer but some problems in Firefox. In Firefox the banners are spaced further apart. But when I click on them they grow closer together. Keep in mind google pages has some built in code. Any ideas? Hey Guys I have a problem when viewing my website in firefox. However, It works in opera, safari and Quanta's preview window. I have unwanted gaps underneath buttons images that have rollovers. Wrong: Correct: The code is: Code: <TABLE border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <TR><TD><IMG src="images/sidebar_top.gif"></TD></TR> <TR><TD><IMG src="images/sidebar.gif"></TD></TR> <TR><TD> <!-- Home Button --> <a href="" onmouseout="document.btn_home.src=btn_home_nm.src" onmouseover="document.btn_home.src=btn_home_hv.src" > <img src="images/btn_home_nm.gif" border="0" name="btn_home"> </a> </TD></TR> <TR><TD> <!-- Opening Times Button --> <a href="" onmouseout="document.btn_opening_times.src=btn_opening_times_nm.src" onmouseover="document.btn_opening_times.src=btn_opening_times_hv.src"> <img src="images/btn_opening_times_nm.gif" border="0" name="btn_opening_times"> </a> </TD></TR> I don't get these gaps on firefox if I remove the a tag like this: Code: <TABLE border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <TR><TD><IMG src="images/sidebar_top.gif"></TD></TR> <TR><TD><IMG src="images/sidebar.gif"></TD></TR> <TR><TD> <!-- Home Button --> <img src="images/btn_home_nm.gif" border="0" name="btn_home"> </TD></TR> <TR><TD> <!-- Opening Times Button --> <img src="images/btn_opening_times_nm.gif" border="0" name="btn_opening_times"> </TD></TR> But then I don't have rollovers Does anyone know why this happens, and why it doesn't happen on opera or safari? Thank you Toshi Has anyone else had any problems when using notepad to edit code created with an WYSIWYG editor such as Frontpage or Dreamweaver? In particular, making links, that are correctly coded, work? Something even odder, is that this problem only occurs on the index.html page. If I rename that page the links work just fine. I have asked this same question in other forums and no one seems to have a clue. Has anyone else encountered this or have any thoughts? i have written a simple html form code the problem is that this code is working fine when run in interner explorer, if i run in mozilla firefox form reset button work as submit button it show submit validation code when reset button press, can any one help me here is the code <script type="text/javascript"> function validation() { alert("submit buton has pressed"); return true; } </script> <body> <form id="form1" name="form_feedback" method="post" onsubmit="return validation();"> <table width="488" border="0"> <!--DWLayoutTable--> <tr> <td width="85"><span>Name:</span></td> <td width="393"><input name="txt_name" type="text" id="textfield2" size="35" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Email:</span></td> <td><input name="txt_email" type="text" id="textfield3" size="35" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Address:</span></td> <td height="0"><label> <textarea name="txt_address" id="textarea" cols="45" rows="2"></textarea> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Phone No:</span></td> <td height="0"><input name="txt_phoneno" type="text" id="textfield4" size="20" onkeypress="return numeralsOnly(event)" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Comments For:</span></td> <td height="0"><input name="txt_commentsfor" type="text" id="textfield5" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Comments:</span></td> <td height="0"><label> <textarea name="txt_comments" id="textarea2" cols="45" rows="5"></textarea> </label></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="0"><label> <input type="submit" name="btn_submit" value="Submit"/> <input type="reset" value="Reset" name="btn_reset"/> </label></td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> I have this site I designed, of course I like it perfectly in Internet Explorer but when I tried it in FIREFOX something gets messed up. http://idesrecordings.com/testindex.htm Basically, you scroll over the cagalogue numbers [ID03] etc. If you click on one, a new smaller window opens. This works perfectly in IE for me. In Firefox, when I click on it, the smaller window opens, and the background window a few seconds later follows and displays the small page fullscreen as well. Basically, I want the homepage to always be in the background, and these seperate pages to always be in the smaller windows. I'm on a PC, I notice in Firefox it works properly if you RIGHT click on the items, but most people are going to LEFT click, so... I need it to work the same as it does in Internet Explorer. Hopefully this makes sense. Hello, I am pretty new to the whole html world so forgive me if this is a simple problem. I have look all over for a post explaing this problem but i haven't found anything. I am making a site for a friend using Dreamweaver. I know i know, i regret not coding it from scratch but its too late now. Anyways I have a pretty good page layout going now but I have ran into a problem with loading my images. On my home page an image in a table nested inside another table will load when viewing in safari but seems to disappear in firefox. What is going on? Its a pretty simple piece of code. I place; <img src="Pictures/RDV couplepalm.jpg" width="200" height="" style="float:right; padding: 8px; margin-left:10px; margin-bottom: 10px" / inside of a paragraph in a row of a table. I have rewritten the code for this image, copied it from a working image and screwed around with the table heights (although I wasn't too sure what i was doing). What else should I try? I have attached screen shots of the site in both browsers a copy of the problem jpeg aswell as a copy of the html. Any information anyone could givee me would be REALLY appreciated! Thank you. Hey guys should I be worried about coding my site for the IE 5.x series or should I just concentrate on IE6 and IE7 does anyone know a browser that will only parse and evaluate valid HTML/XHTML based on what the doctype is and ignore invalid HTML/XHTML or generate errors. So if I had a XHTML doctype and my code was: Code: this is a XHTML document <br> this should be a new line I don't want the <br> to parse because I want something to trigger that is it not a valid XHTML tag since it is not closed. Any browser won't really care and just show the new line. I would have to validate it on the w3c website to find my error. So I want a browser that would give me these results based on my example code: Code: this is a XHTML documentthis should be a new line and then some sort of error saying "<br>" on line x is invalid. Hi, I work on a Mac, and have Safari, Internet Explorer 5 and Firefox. 1. What do you think I should be building my sites to? What do you use? 2. Also why do some sites work in all browsers? CSS hacks? Microsoft are no longer letting you download Internet Explorer for the Mac, from microsoft.com. Therefore all new mac users from February last year will not be using Explorer. Please help! I tried for several hours and have yet to make it work succesfully. Is there anyone who can make (or help make) a browser detection system for me? I would post my script but i deleted it. it would detect ie, but it mistook every other browser for google chrome. Can someone please offer advice related to http://www.telfordsteamrailway.co.uk...dale/index.php the 'Visit our website' link works in IE & Opera but not SAfari / FF/ Google the page validates - I just cant see why it doesnt work hi. i would really appreciate some help here. i am totally new to designing pages but i managed to make this www.cilipi.bravehost.com . Now, what is the problem? I display it in Mozilla and it works great, no mistakes at all but after loading it in Ie everything is messed up, i get activex codes, bcs of my flash...etc etc i really like this site and i beg you, i really beg some guru to check my source code, i am ready to send him a whole page...everything needed to help me out. i am really desperate, having so much fine making this and uploading it...now it looks bad in ie. please, could someone help me? THANK YOU! regards from croatia Hi, Is there a way I can not show all the url in the browser window. for instance when showing a links page, instead of the address being "http://www.webspace.co.uk/links.htm" could it just be "http://www.webspace.co.uk I have seen this done but not sure how. Thanks Simon Here is what I want to do: Basically there is an mmorpg game I play, and to play it you must download the client and install it. What I want to do is upload the files to a server and make a webpage in HTML that I can launch the game from, or embed it into the website, whichever works best. How would I achieve this? Thank you. I'm almost done with my new website's main template. Now, the only thing that remains is that my website looks exactly how I want it in IE and total crap in Firefox. I was wondering if anyone could help me out/figure out what's going on. The URL is www.smbmovie.com... This page looks exactly like I want it to in Firefox but not in ie6 or ie7. In ie6 the fieldsets are different heights but I want them to be the same (as in firefox) and in ie7 some of the submit buttons are hidden. Can someone help me with this? Thanks... I have studied my code and for the life of me can't figure out why the header is not showing up in IE7 (windows). It shows up in all other browsers just fine. Can someone help me and take a look at my code and tell my what I may have missed? http://www.kingcrabshack.com/ Thank you for your time. |
