HTML - Creating A Vertical Line Between Two Cells
I'm working with this web page code (below) and I'd like to seperate the two cells (or tables, I'm not sure). The one on the left holds the log-in and the links, and the one on the right contains the main text.
I've attached an image and am showing the borders just to show you where the cells are. (I'm adding the lower half of the code to a reply, due to sixe limitations of this post). I'd like to seperate these two and run a vertical line between them. Can you help me with this? Code: <HTML> <HEAD> <Title></Title> <style type="text/css"> body {margin: 1px 100px; 0px 100px; padding: 1px;} </style> </HEAD> <BODY leftMargin=0 topMargin=0 marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"> <TABLE This is my first post on the forum, seems like a nice place here. I'm pretty much brand new to HTML and CSS as well. I'm learning fast but I have run into a problem that I cannot solve... and maybe it is not even solve-able with HTML. I want to create a table that has a different amount of cells on each row, but I want those rows to have the same width. I understand it is hard to understand from my poor description. So check out the image below: This is how I want to table to look, how is it done? Thanks! Is there an easy way to make a vertical line? For example, some equivalent to <HR> ? Thank you. Hello can anybody help my with html about a vertical line with wat codeyo can make a vertical line for your website in html. Erwin The title says it all. I'm the webmaster for a basketball sim league. I'm an HTML-noob, but I have enough basic skill to sporadically update. While recently updating the website, I coded over a vertical line. In the process, the entire column shifted about a 1/8 an inch downward. I didn't make the template for the site, but someone else from the sim league did. Can someone please help me bring back the vertical line and realign the column? Thanks much in advance!! Here's a link to the website: http://abca-basketball.com The column that I'm talking about is on the far right, and the missing vertical line that I'm talking about was in between the middle column and the one on the far right. Again, thanks alot in advance! In this code below (and attached image) there is a vertical line that seperates the left column from the main content of the page. Can you please tell me where the vertical line is in this code and how I can shorten it? Thanks. The only part of the table I want to make visible is the central vertical line that separates the two columns (no other vertical lines showing, and no horizontal lines showing). If it's possible, how can I do this? Thanks, James hi all im after advice on the best way to create a vertical slide show that only changes on a page refresh the images will be shown with a negative film as a frame that is repeated vertically then i will use php code to show a random image inside the frame so, which will be best using the frame as a repeated background image then having a div with the image overlapping this or manually displaying a large image that i have repeated in photoshop. Something in this page is causing a vertical white line on the right hand side of the main table. Can anyone help me figure this out? www.massagelaunch.com Thanks. My header looks weird. I tried using a table to get it down, but it doesn't want to seem to work the way I want it to. I want my search box and submit to ditchtime.com blocks to be right under each other all on the same line with my other ads. Instead the submit 2 ditchtime block is underneath everything else. Any table I could use to fix this? site http://www.ditchtime.com How can I create a line about (2px) in height to float above my header? For example would I use an empty div tag? Then just style it? thanks superbia I am using dreamweaver and for some reason when I save files it's creating extra linespaces. like <br> <br> <br> will show up as <br> <br> <br> How can I fix this? It's a real pain. It must increase my page size? Or is it fine? One page I have, I don't know why, but it has 5-6 lines in between, maybe every time I save it' adds another line? i just started learning html today. and trying to get cell alignments figured out. I know in word, and other programs you can align text in 9 different spots in a cell. Top left, top center, top right middle left, middle center, middle right bottom left, bottom, center, bottom right but while im trying to use align="center" or using valign="middle" i cant get the text to align to the center of a cell only using align i can move across the top of the cell and using valign i can move across the left of the cell is there a way to use both together to get to the other portions of the cell ? Hi, I have been challenged with creating the HTML for a news article list which is going on a website. I have started out by creating a test list using <ul><li> tags This is what the list looks like http://design2rent.co.uk/menu_test/index.html The data for this list will be grabbed from a database but the designer would like to have the date aligned to the right instead of at the end of the article, i have uploaded an image here for what the end result should look like. ignoring the backgroudn images ect as this is just a snippent of the design is it possible to have 1 list item split into 2 cells and align one of them to the left and the other to the right to acheive the end result layout? I've racked my brains with divs and tables but can't seem to find a solution and tried many google searches but not found any relevent topics. any help would be hugely appreciated how to manage cells height, e.g. have control over them in HTML, say I want a height to be 2px. site http://members.dodo.com.au/~rouslan/...ite/index.html td height and tr height codes didn't work, table or cells keep stretching themselves up or down When you have a table, and there is a lot of text in cells and you dont want the ENTIRE table stretch, what code can you add to the cell in order to give it scrollbars? The only way I found online is by css, but I'm not sure where to add the code. Any tips/help? Is there any way to get text to float from one cell to the other? And if not, is there any other way i can solve the problem of getting text around a picture? example: <table> <tr> <td>text start</td> <td>picture</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">text end</td> </tr> </table Hi, I'm new to HTML, i pretty much learned it by myself with online tutorials. Now i'm having problems with this web layout, There are empty spaces between cells and I can't remove them no matter what I do. I used cellpadding="0" and cellspacing="0" and style="border-collapse: collapse" but it made no difference. This is only happening on FireFox. On Internet Explorer it appears fine. I'm sure that I'm doing some stupid mistake somewhere. Here's the code of the whole page: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN""http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Using CSS</title> <style> body { margin:0; } </style> </head> <body topmargin="0" leftmargin="0" bottommargin="0"> <table cellpadding="0" border="1" style="border-collapse: collapse" cellspacing="0" height = "100%"> <tr> <td><img src="images/Gray-Cut-(layout)_01.gif" height="64"></td> <td><img src="images/Gray-Cut-(layout)_02.gif" height="64"></td> </tr> <tr> <TD class="example" width="786" colSpan="2" heigh="100%"> <TABLE id="Table2" height="100%" cellSpacing="0" cellPadding="0" border="1" style="border-collapse: collapse"> <TR> <TD><IMG height="21" alt="" src="images\Gray-Cut-(layout)_03.gif" width="182"></TD> <TD width="100%" rowSpan="5"><iframe name="iframe" src="home.html" height = "100%" width="100%" frameborder="0"></iframe></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><IMG height="24" alt="" src="images\Gray-Cut-(layout)_05.gif" width="182"></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><IMG height="24" alt="" src="images\Gray-Cut-(layout)_06.gif" width="182"></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><IMG height="35" alt="" src="images\Gray-Cut-(layout)_07.gif" width="182"></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD height="100%"> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </TD> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Hi, here's my code, and things are working as they should.
