HTML - Div Overlay/embed Work Around?
Alright, i'll give you the long and short of it.
I want to be able to make a png image and using a div overlay post it as a comment on someone's myspace. For example... They have an image with them looking godlike... so I take a screenshot, do some drawing, get rid of the background and save my work as a png ---> and I post a comment on there myspace resulting in this outcome Now I know my div overlay code would look something along the lines of Code: <div style="width: 452px; height: 113px; position: absolute; top:294px; center:100px" align="center"> <img src="http://ad6storieshigh.com/myspace/messingwith/crown.png" border="0"></a> </div> But the problem is, when you post something like that myspace converts it to Code: <div .."width: 452px; height: 113px; position: absolute; top:294px; center:100px" align="center"> .. src="http://ad6storieshigh.com/myspace/messingwith/crown.png" border="0"> </div> Which is obviously a problem. So I was thinking how else I could do this. I noticed that for youtube videos you use an <object...etc...> and then an </embed> tag so I was wondering, is there a way to use the object/embed procedure to call to a file on a website that's holding my div overlay code? like if I made an html file that only had the div code in it. Or something along those lines? please adn thank youD Similar TutorialsThis may be a silly question to some of you but I have never done it so here goes. I want to have my navigation menu overlay my header information, banner. Now I can do this by making the banner background but then how do I give the header its size with no actual content? Can I have the header content which is a img file be overlayed by a menu, unordered list? Thanks Hi! I have a flash website that is a little heavy (loads a little slow) so basically my idea is to create a flash intro that is light and might load fast on top of my current flash site..so that the flash intro plays while the site itself loads behind it. and then the flash intro would be done playing and disappear and will expose the main flash site behind it. I don't want to do a separate page for intro and main site though as it basically will give the same loading time. i want it to load together the main site behind at first then will be exposed after the flash intro is done. I was thinking of using z-index to put the flash intro on top white the site loads and put make the flash transparent after it's done playing.. but my i think if i do that the main site behind would not be functional(clickable) because of the overlaying object (which is only transparent) is there a way that i can make the object totally disappear after it's done playing? not just making it transparent... or is there any other way to do this? actionscript? java? anything? curtain? container? how is it possible... please help... Thanks guys. so im trying to put a slide show in the div overly...im putting it in the right section but when i view my profile its right in the middle of the page overlapping writing etc.. how do i get it so its under that heading i put it up instead of it center? Alright, I'll admit up front that while I know very bare basics of HTML, I mostly just deal with Photoshop and the like, so I'm not much of a webmaster. That being said, here's my question: I have a site split up into tables, and I would like to place a scrollable section in the middle (where I can put whatever amount of text I need), but also place a non-scrolling image behind it. Does that make sense? If not, then I could try to explain further. Any help would be great. Hi all, i'm trying to build a page using overlay frames without using JS scripts. I already managed to get it working but it has a few problems. Page: blackphoenixlegion.net Links: Corporation or Recruitment. Technique: I have additional frames below the page via overlow:hidden, using the CSS :target pseudo class to change the X position upon a target call. Problems: 1. Should the available screen space be smaller in height than the page, then no scroll bar is shown. The page is just getting cut off. 2. The page is totally not IE compatible ofc. I figured i will have to use JS for those fixes, but thats ok ... someone who is using IE will not have problems with using JS ^^. I already added a JS script working like the :target peusodclass, but i still have two problems: - The subframe (iframe) has no transparent background - The overlay frame is getting shown, but the browser scrolls to the "hidden" area wich is just black. http://www.yandina.com/JIndex.htm Open in Firefox, Chrome or Safari - - - that is what it is supposed to look like. Open in IE and the last table get overlaid on top of the previous table. What sort of things can cause that? Additional (unrelated I think) problem, IE is not accessing cookies but others are fine. What can cause that? For some reason this code won't work. The black window shows up with controls but the video doesn't play. The filename and directory are correct. <object id="MediaPlayer" width="200" height="200" classid="22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"> <param name="FileName" value="gts1.wmv"> <param name="AutoStart" value="True"> <param name="ShowControls" value="True"> <param name="ShowStatusBar" value="True"> <param name="ShowDisplay" value="True"> <param name="AutoRewind" value="True"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2"pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Downloads/Contents/MediaPlayer/" width="200" height="200" src="gts1.wmv" filename="gts1.wmv" autostart="True" showcontrols="True" showstatusbar="True" showdisplay="True" autorewind="Flase"> </embed> Why won't it work: HTML Code: <object width="300" height="42"> <param name="src" value="http://platnium.fileave.com/No_More_Memory.mp3"> <param name="autoplay" value="true"> <param name="controller" value="true"> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"> <embed src="http://platnium.fileave.com/No_More_Memory.mp3" autostart="true" loop="true" width="300" height="42" controller="true" ></embed> </object> Hi, i know that iframe isnt xhtml compatible, what do i use instead? is it the embed tags? If so, how do i use them? i take it i dont just replace the word iframe with embed? Thanks! Hi, Is it possible to embed a quicktime .mov file and not allow the user to download the video? Thanks for the help, B I hope this is the correct forum. I have a large swf file that until some of this loads all the user sees is a blank box on the page. What I would like to do is show a gif or jpg there that is small enough to show the control bars of the swf file so the user can see something is going on and then when enough loads they can push play and see the video not the gif. I wanted to use preloaders but my client says no they want a static gif above the player controls. I have seen this done on other sites but I cannot figure this out. I code in the image with a div tag above the swf embed code using transparent in the embed code and all I see is a blank screen until the movie has downloaded and my controls are gone when it loads. So I am wondering do I need a transparent title page in the swf so it will show the image or what? Code where image will go: (<div id="flashcontent"> This text is replaced by the Flash movie. </div> ) Here is my embed code: (<script type="text/javascript"> var so = new SWFObject("capture3.swf", "mymovie", "640", "480", "8", "#336699"); so.addParam("quality", "low"); so.addParam("wmode", "transparent"); so.addParam("salign", "t"); so.write("flashcontent"); </script>) Thanks! Hi folks, I have a simple question using the <embed> tag. My code is as follows: <embed width='100%' height='100%' src='../media/movies/intro.wmv' autostart=true> The movie plays just fine but when the browser loads it seems to load the first frame of the video and superimposes the actual video over that. However, if I go to another tab or minimize the browser then return to the screen the movie looks fine. I'm still learning about this stuff so I'm not sure if there is a buffer/cache issue or not. Can someone please give me some idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance Hi everyone, I would like to embed another web site/page into a table on my page. The page I want to embed is mine, so there is no copyright issues. I would like to do this without using frames, unless I can use frames, but there be no scroll bars, just to extend the column downward. I would like it to appear as if you couldn't tell that it was from another page. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Musicman1994 Does somebody know what is the current stay of the play with <EMBED> and <OBJECT> tags? I can not find a clear information if I need to use both tags, or just one to embed objects into HTML. Hello there, Heres a question, I started a document and inserted flash using dreamweaver. Dreamweaver made an <object> tag and its <param> tags, Also it put an <embed> tag inside that whole deal. using HTML 4.0 Strict DTD, when i validated the document, the was an error that said: Code: The tag name: "embed" Not found in currently active versions.[HTML 4.0] I know that this little trick was used to make sure the flash would play in IE and FF and all browsers for that manner because of the different tag support. So with that said, how do we ensure today that the flash will play in all browsers if we cant use <embed> anymore with current active versions? Thanks in advance Is there a way of putting a font into a website viewers temp file so it can be used on the website. As I would like to make my own font to go on my website but if that viewer didn't have it, then it wouldn't show. I don't really like the idea of having somebody download the font and then have to put it into their font file so if that could be avoided. Thanks. Hi, Here's the frame URL: http://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1iqp0...UzMWNhYWU4MjBi I inserted it through the iframe tag into the following page: http://rain-lover.webs.com/sample.htm Opera and Firefox are the only major browsers that display it. No luck in IE, Chrome or Safari. I get the same result using the following code: Code: <object type="text/html" width="100%" height="600" data="http://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1iqp0kGPjWsMjBjN2EwZDctMjhlNy00ODJjLWJjNTgtYTUzMWNhYWU4MjBi"> </object> Please help! Thanks in advance. Hello, I am designing and building a website and I can't figure out how to do something. I guess you could say I'm an 'somewhat advanced newbie', so just bear with me. Here's what my goal is: I'd like to have, on every webpage, a couple areas that are sourced from an individual file. For example, right under the header I'd like to have an announcement bar. My thoughts are is that I could just make a separate HTML file, called 'Announcement.html' and embed that into the annoucement area. This way, I could just edit the one HTML file and it would make the changes site-wide. I would also like to do this for my header, footer, etc... The main thing that would be unique to the webpage would be the actual content. My thoughts are that I could do this by embeding a HTML file into the webpage, but if there are other ways to go about this, I'd be appreciative of that as well. If you need any other information, I'll be glad to get it for you. Any help will be greatly appreciated, PianoKid I'm trying to embed a .wav file into my webpage. I've used the following syntax: <EMBED src="funnyfarm.wav" autostart=true loop=false volume=100 hidden=true width="0" height="0"> <noembed><BGSOUND src="funnyfarm.wav"></noembed> Originally I wrote the syntax with <NOEMBED> and </NOEMBED> but FrontPage changed them to what you see above. The page is the Main.htm which resides in the main frame of a frameset page. I do not want the music embedded into the frames page (index.htm) because I want the music to change with the page. I have tried to preview this in a browser but there's no sound. I have tested the wav independently with different media players, it works. Why am I getting no sound? I have also tried FrontPage's default method on Page Properties which just generates bgsound in the header tag but still no good. Is there another tag I can try, or is there a fault in my code? Please help. |
