HTML - Searching Local Folders
Guys n Gals.
Is it possible using HTML to search local folders for files. The scenario: At work we have a networked folder, that is constantly being updated with either txt files or xml files and such. This changes on a daily basis. Is it possible to search using html. I don't wish to build a database, as this would require constant attention. I would like to send out a small HTML page, with our company logo, that references the newtrk location. If so, would anyone know or have the code to do this. Java would also be suitable. Similar TutorialsHi, I've seen that in many websites the url in the web browser are folders instead of pages: www.site.com/folder1/ www.site.com/folder2/ www.site.com/folder1/folder3/ I guess they use a server configuration. Could you give me more information about it ? Or indicate a tutorial ? thanks on my server i have a _vti_pvt folder - and on filezilla it has an owner/group thing next to each folder/file - and on this it says owner - my username, group - 99 , and the cutenews folder which is hacked on my site is also called 99. i'm suspicious this is what i see inside and also, how do i delete a hacked folder if i cant even upload to the folder or do ANYTHING :s Hello I am not sure if this is the correct area for this question but i'll give it a shot I'm just wondering if there is a way to make a custom icon for a zipped folder? this is a file that would be e-mailed Thank You I am a beginner at wp design and a newbie at actually coding html but I can already see the need to develop a clear set of guidelines for using folders to organize my work. For example, I am inclined to want to make 3 folders for each website, one called webpages, one called images and one called CSS. Is this useful/ a good idea? Or should I create a folder for each webSITE and then a folder within for each webPAGE? I am guessing that mirroring this structure on my webspace would be helpful - would facilitate uploading and downloading. Please comment also on relative references - at least I think this topic is related. I would appreciate any insight from some of you veterans out there to keep me from pulling out what little hair I have left Hiya, The default page for my website (e.g., www.mywebsite.com) is www.mywebsite.com/index.htm. However, I want to be able to tell certain people to go to "www.mywebsite.com/info" to get served a special page. Is all I have to do: 1. Create a folder called 'info', 2. Insert my content into a file called index.htm and place in that folder. I've tried the above with FF and IE and it seems to work fine - am just checking it's the best way of doing it. Thanks, James I'm writing a program that (tries to) detect pairs of html files and their associated folders. For example if you save a website to disk, then you get something like "foo.htm" and a folder named "foo_files". The problem is, this naming schema only applies to websites saved with english versions of common browsers. With a german version, for example, the folder looks more like "foo-Dateien". Is there any safe way find out which folder an html file is associated with? Thanks in advance for any help! Hi there, I'm a novice to HTML and new to this site but am looking for some info. On our company website we want to have a way for customers can search through files/directories to find a specific file they need. Basically just a filename search that can display results in the form of a link. Right now the folders that we want our customers our accessible to them over the web, but instead of them using a plain file/folder viewing style we'd like to incorporate a simple search that can search through different directories to find files that fully or partially match their keywords. I'm not sure if this is very difficult, or if this is the correct forum to post this question. Thanks for any help I have a search box on my website deign but do not know how I can have it find information on my additional pages. Much like the search box on this site I would like it to link to my other page and specific information on that page. If anyone could post an example code with an explanation that would be appreciated. Hey I recently released my website, www.onezeroprints.com but I am unable to find it when I google search or use any other major search engine. I was wondering if you guys could check out my header html code and let me know if I was doing anything ostentatiously wrong in this regard. Thank you for the time. Please let me know if there are any steps to take in remedying this. Saying we i mean i we got only one who is programming php We have an idea of creating game portal with a little more interest. Anybody intereted? My company has a support site that is hosted by a 3rd party. We are wanting a search box on one of our other sites that searches our database via this 3rd party site. I only know of 2 options: 1. I can create a search box that changes the word they are searching for in the web address it submits. IE: It would replace the word "voltage" to whatever the customer enters into the search box for in the address below. http://gsd.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/gsd....h_text=voltage[/color]&p_new_search=1&p_search_type=answers.search_nl 2. I know the search box on the website is in a table. If I could somehow link to this table so that it appears on my website. I am not sure of the best option or if a 3rd one exist and I have no idea (despite my best efforts) of how to implement it. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks! I need to update a few images and pdf files into a folder located inside the remote view, to be uploaded to the Internet. I can delete the old files from that folder located in the remote view; Can you please explain how do I get the new files inside the remote view so that I can upload them online. I dont have the folders on my deskstop. There is a local view though, but I cannot locate the folder that needs to be updated. Please advise. Thank you In the following code, the image display is inconcsistent: - Firefox: works in all cases - IE7 over Internet: works - IE7 locally: image does not display; I get a placeholder. - IE7 locally on my other computer: works. By "locally", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on my local hard disk; by "Internet", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on the server at my web site service. The image is in the same directory as the HTML file in all cases. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html> <head> <title>My Page</title> </head> <body> <p>Welcome to My Page</p> <img height="231" width="346" border="0" src="roadtrip003.gif"> </body> </html> I suspect an IE7 setting on the offending computer, but I've looked around quite a bit and it ain't obvious to me. Any thoughts? hi all, i have created a website presentation for my project with about 1000 pictures with only simple html. The website will not be online and is intended to be use only offline from local disc. I don't know why but the pictures are not cached. Is that a limitation to offline websites? Also when I create simple code with only one picture in it, it's not cached. A I doing something wrong? I'm using IE6. Thanks Boris How to attach a local file to mail with "mail" syntax? Thank you! -gav I am in the process of installing an internet blocker on my Ubuntu machine. I have an access denied page that I have made up, but I want the page to redirect to a file located in each user's home folder after a few seconds. This basically makes a unique page for each user when something is blocked. Normally I would think to do this in either javascript or using the meta refresh tag, but this appears to be a prohibited behaviour for obvious security reasons. Is there any way to turn this off and allow local redirection? Yes, this a highly abnormal thing to want to do on a page...I have been designing and building commercial websites for years and never have I had to do this |
