I like how simple his layout is but it looks sooo much better than mine lol. He hired someone to build it so he has no idea how it was made. Does anyone know if there is a template or something I can use to make something similar, I mainly just want the scrolling box with pictures that are linked to videos like he has on the top of the page below the banner. This will be my first website, aside of simple projects from my school class. A friend of mine has a website that is currently already up an running. He would like the site completely re-done, as he moved his company, has new offers, etc. Is the best way to do it, to re-write/edit from scratch, or to use a free website builder? I have beginners html/css/Javascript writing knowledge, and have been searching online when I need help. Let's say he already has a website called www.5star.com If I use a free website builder, will I be able to transfer all that to his domain name he already has so it doesnt become something like www.freewebsite/hostme/5star.com ? He is getting the FTP info from the guy who originally made his site. Thank you. (I have been working it from scratch and have a lot done, but want it to look great, and not just a plain static site). Hi, I'm looking to create a simple booking form on a html website. It needs to generate an email containing the details for the website owner, as well as show confirmation to the form user that it has posted successfully. I'm trying to establish the best/easiest way of doing this? I have a fairly good grasp of html - but would this involve programming outside of html? Javascript perhaps? If you could point me in a direction it would be much appreciated, Thanks. Hey everyone! I don't know much about HTML so please be gentle in responding. I'm setting up a form for online donations for the organization I work for and we're using Paypal to receive the donations. The problem is that I need to be able to let people designate their donations to specific projects and such but Paypal won't do that. I know that I can set up a form on our website that allows them to select the different projects, put in the amounts and then have a box at the bottom giving the total donation. The problem I have is that whenever they fill out this form and move on to the Paypal payment page, they have to re-enter the total donation on the Paypal payment page. I want to eliminate this step, if possible. My question is this: Is there a way to have the total donation amount copied and pasted onto the Paypal payment page so they wouldn't have to re-enter it? Thanks for your help in this matter! I am pretty good with HTML, and know quite alot. But when it comes to finding somewhere to place all the code, it confuses the hell out of me lol. So, a few questions. - What programme is the best for writing your code into? - Once I have saved the code in this programme, how do I upload it through the FTP? (like, where do I place it?) - Is that it, or is there more to it? Cheers guys, Preemo Hi, I was wondering if i could receive some help creating a blog-type website. With on the sidebar: archive, calender, recent posts etc. Posts: read more button, todays date, author (posted by) etc. Facebook share button, twitter etc. Flash banner with a picture slider add own logo, slogan, footer etc. I tried wordpress but the themes are not that great and it wont let you do a lot. Is there an app or software that will make this easy? Thank you, W. I want to build a website that when first entering the website asks for a user name and password. Then depending on which username they enter it goes to their page. On the page a want like a form that they can enter information to and save a text file or something on to the server that they can access at a later date and edit and save again. I want to be able to view this file. How can I do this? Thanks for the help Hello I'm not sure if this is in the right section, but I'm trying to figure out how to make my website more easily maintainable. EG On my site there is a bar on every page with my "latest updates", every time I want to add an update I have to add it to every page which is tiresome. I was wondering if I can just have this bar point to a text file on every page so I can just update this one file and it will be displayed on all pages. Hopefully this isn't too difficult, thanks. I would like to start a credit card website, but I don't know much about html/web design. I am offering someone professional to help build me a website. The site must look like this site: credit-land.com , mainly referring to its templates & color. In addtion, I would like another website, somewhat similar (but not a clone) to this one: get3creditcards.com , so that I can distribute copies of that site to my affiliates to help promote my products. This means, when their affiliate application get approved, I will send them the site to put under a domain name. Also, I need for someone to help set up a tracking system for my affiliates, so they can track their earnings. And I believe this has to be another site? page? If anyone's willing to accept this offer, please PM me or email me sac25274 @ gmail.com and let me know your service price. Thank you very much. Ive been asked to fix up an old webpage. The old web master is a bit senile and can not complete the page. I had created a php page but the server is so old that it doesnt support php. I want a page with a simple leftnav and I need to add a photogallery with thumbnails... anyone have any advice for me? Are there any good free templates out there that could do all this for me? Or maybe some good tools? Thanks in advance Hi people! I am semi-new to html, and have tried to figure this one out on myself, but it just doesn't seem to work! So I am trying to create a layout for my photo blog, with these standards: * images that I post auto-resize to squares [100*100] * when you click on the image it will show you the full sized version optional: * on the homepage you get the option to click on 'ANALOG' and 'DIGITAL' That's all! It can't be that hard right, am I over-seeing something? I want to use this layout on tumblr, blogger, wordpress, or any other free platform! I have a link right here to give you an idea of what I'm talking about: http://www.oscaralexander.com/lomo/lowlands-08-08/html/ [they aren't squares, I know] I am working on a website that deals with a form for an electronic check. I pretty much know how to do the code for getting the values, etc, I just do not know how to create the actual forms. I have to create the pages in Visual Studio 2008. Here is what I have to create: The first image explains what is supposed to be in each field of the form. The second image is what it is supposed to look like after the user inputs information to the form. And here is what the result is supposed to be after the user clicks the preview button: So like I said, I know how to do most of the coding, I just have no idea how to manipulate Visual Studio to make the forms look like, or at least similar to, the pictures I posted. I have experience in html and css and some in javascript. So that is not really the issue. I just do not know Visual Studio too well. It seems like there is something easy and/or obvious that I am missing. I played around with VS for several hours earlier and I could not make anything that looked similar the images. Any help is greatly appreciated. I need to find 3 different validation tools. One of them being http://validator.w3.org/ What are some more? Hi: Currently, I'm making my web pages 'by hand'. That is, I use an editor, and laboriously crank out and test my pages on IE, safari, FireFox and Opera. But this is agonizingly slowwwwww ! What tools do *professional* webbers use to build sites ?? What would you folks here suggest as a useful tool for web-building that would speed up my building, but result in clean editable pages ? (btw, I'm an expert database man, but quit a neophyte in web design.) My 'forte' is building Windows business applications (Inventory, Accounting, etc, etc) using xBase database software (i.e., the xHarbour language). I can hardly wait until I can get 'behind-the-scenes' and do database work to back up my (pathetic) designs. Thanks for any hints. -Mel Smith Mesa, Arizona Hi, I am new to HTML and web programming, trying to learn things. I came across the Developer tools in Microsoft Explorer and I opened the main google page and yahoo mail log in page, but there was lots of lines, I thought it might be shorter than that cos there is not much going on the page, a search bar, a button and few links. Also, there are tags like css and script, does that mean they have use many scripting/languages to make that page, and how can u really write few hundreds of line just for an almost empty page (i.e. not much details), there must be something to make writing that script easier. If anybody can help me clarifying any of the above will be very appreciated http://validator.w3.org/ I need to know what the advantages and disadvantages of these three validating tools are. Could anyone help me out? thanks Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i have a feeling it is. So you create a site for a client and that client has to update the page with whatever area they work in, maybe they work in real estate and have a new house on the market to add to the site etc.. Well i could easily write a php script that would add their content to the site, but i can image there could be errors somewhere down the line, what happens then, they phone you up to complan etc...? So what content modifying tools/script do you use? |
