HTML - Area Of A Page (dumb Question)
(This is one of those stupid 'Why do they do that?' questions. I'd ask them, but I'm worried it's really obvious and I don't want to look like a mook.)
I've noticed a couple of teachers at my College set up websites that take up only part of the page. For example, this one page is 440px in height and 775px in width. This leaves a lot of white space, because the page is huddled up in the NW corner of the page. At first, I thought it was for visually hindered people, so when they zoom in, the text would be larger, and the page would fill out larger as well, take up the whole screen. But zoom doesn't actually change the page's height/width. Any thoughts? Similar TutorialsCan somebody take a look at http://http://www.bkriegtech.net/index.php?page=contact and tell me why it's all out of line? It's a php include from a contact form. The page=support calls support.php located in the web root. his may be a dumb question but how do you get a table to align to the absolute top of a webpage? Thx Snaps01 <A href="http://www.xyz.com">Click Here</A> Trying to find out how to modify the code above to change what is displayed in the notification area at the bottom of browser when the link is moused over. Thanks for your help. Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this whole html/web developing community and I got a few questions. My most important question is: 1. Would it be possible to have a button(like a type=file) that browses directories only, but instead of uploading them, just displaying the path as a text, so when my script picks it up, it just reads the text? EDIT: What I'm talking about is very similar to this thread, but i just want them to upload path so when the script emails the data, its just a link to the path on the local server and my other question is: 2. If a user enters data in a text area, like i am writing in this, when my script picks it up, it does not seem to get the newlines at the end and just displays it all on one line, is there a way i can go about fixing it so that it gets passed(or even converted) to exactly how the user entered it? EDIT: I've tried using wrap="physical" tag but I've been reading and some people say that it doesn't work..any suggestions? Thanks a bunch for your help On my website I'm keeping a blog. Currently when I print a page, the printout would include Google ads, and logos and buttons that I don't really want to appear on a printout. All the content I want to be printable is contained within one <div> tag. Is it possible to make it, so that if you go to print a page, only the content within this <div> tag is printed? I have created a web page in ASP.Net, but completely using HTML codes. This web page shows first 25 hit movies in year wise. I have 2006, 2007 and 2008 year's details in 3 different tables (HTML Tables). All of them are in one page When user clicks main page, it shows all the three year details in tables. User has to scroll down the apge to see full details. Here, I want to give 3 page sections (or page breaks).. If user clicks main page urs, it should show all and user have to scroll down...if user press 2006, it shoud take him to that specific area. If similarly if user clicks 2007, it should take him/her to 2007 details area.. How to do this? I heard that with 'submenubullet', we can do this...Please help me on this HI Im making a site at the mo and im looking to keep the menu and a picture stay in the same position constantly. So when then user moves the scoll wheel only the text are will scroll. I dont want there to be any border or scroll bars around the text, so the only visable scroll bar will be the browsers... any ideas? Hi - I'm just a dumb cellist who wrote the code for his wedding gig web page. It's the first time I've tried writing my own code. There are still a few glitches to work out. Anyway, here it is; www.chamber-players.com I need some help because my drop down menu has a funny quirk; when I click on "Music Ideas" more than once it alternates between two different pages. You'll see if you try it. The same thing happens with "Planning". I know there are a different ways to do a drop down menus but is there any quick fix for this? I really appreciate the help! Ciao, cellist I'm sure there is a way to go about this but I can't seem to figure it out and I'm not that proficient with html or css so hopefully someone here will able to help me out with this. Im working on a portfolio site for myself and this is what I have so far http://www.visualonestudios.com The site contains two main DIV's. One horizonal one for the menu called 'Outer' and one vertical behind it called 'main'. What I want is that the menu section always stays and the content of the main DIV changes depending on what has been selected on the menu. I'm not using any frames so what would be the easiest way to do this and remember I'm html-challenged lol. Thanks Hello, I am a page and was wondering how I would align it center in the page without all the formating being messed up. So I was wondering if there was a way to make everything center in the page but look just as it does now, just centered no matter the size of the page. Hope you can help! Thank you in advance. This is the page I would like the code to center http://www.primenewscenter.com/updat...ncom&buid=4928 Thanks! I am fairly new to web design and was wondering what some of the techniques are to make a page appear to have more on it then it really does. For example, how do you make it appear as if the page contains very little white space? is it best to use a pattern in the background? Is there a way to crop the page to make it smaller? I have link to a new page. I want to set the size of that page so that it's about 3"x4". Can I do that? Here's what I got so far <td class="listing"><div align="left"><a href="display_member.php?member_id=<?php echo $row_listMem['member_id']; ?>" target="_blank"><?php echo $row_listMem['name']; ?></a></div></td> My current web site is at "CAVAglass.com" I created "http://www.cavaglass.com/gallery/1.GORMENGHAST.htm" and want it to be my new Index Page. All the links work fine here. When I rename "http://www.cavaglass.com/gallery/1.GORMENGHAST.htm" as "index.htm", and open my "CAVAglass.com" website this home page looks fine, but no links work. Any suggestions? Best, Joseph how do you make youtube videos small on your profile like... icon size i've seen it on profiles but cant figure it out Hi guys I've recently got into to the whole making sites for people running for political office and a lot of them want a donation function on there pages only problem is I have like NO idea how 2 do that. Its it done with HTML? Do I need to run through pay pal? Do I need to hand code the fields? So more then like a specific Q and A on this one I just need a broader response on where and how this is done. Thx 4 the assist. John How do I figure out the lenght of the page (content, not browser window) so that I can make all of my regions line up at the bottom? I noticed that % in the height attribute is related to the window not content. I have also tried auto, but that is different for different content. My page has an outside region, a left nav bar and a content region, and I don't know how to make the bottom line up without tables. Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks in advance. hi, I have one question I have one index page <index.html> with iframe it displays: info.html, contact.html, and main.html it default src="main.html" if I creat a link from the other page eg. <hot.html> from <hot.html> I want to make a link just a single click it will go to <index.html> but in the iframe displays <info.html> instead of <main.html> how the codes should be like? Thanks. Edited: Seo Concerns. I've seen (and cannot find again) a header piece of artwork that was justified a percentage distance from the left of the page. Another plain slither of header artwork was repeated seamlessly across the total width of the page. It went 'behind' the prime piece of artwork and reappeared. The 'joins' were invisible. The header seemed / appeared to be one piece of artwork that went across the page regardless of how wide the page was with the piece of artwork always remaining between the centre of the page and the left hand edge of the page. The distance of the piece of artwork got nearer to the left hand edge of the page the narrower the page got. How does one achieve that? Both images were hosted by ImageShack. I barely understand all that myself! My knowledgebase is a little above zero. Thanks in advance, MD. I'm trying to design a simple html website for the company I work for but I have run into a problem. I can't figure out how to make the table extend all the way down to the bottom of the page without stretching the content. I tried adding bottommargin="0px" to the body tag but that didn't work. I also tried adding height=100% to the table tag but that stretched the content of the page. Here's my code: <html> <head> <title></title> <link rel=stylesheet type="text/css" href=stylesheet.css> </head> <body topmargin="0px" bottommargin="0px"> <center> <table bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width=70% cellspacing=0 cellpadding=6 style="border: #000000 2px solid; border-bottom: 0px; border-top: 0px"> <tr><td> <center> <img src="logo.png"></a> </center> </td><td> <center> <b><big>Name</big></b> <br>Address <br>Address <br>Phone & Fax <br>License </center> </td><td> <center> <img src="logo.png"></a> </center> </td></tr> <tr><td colspan=3 style="border: #000000 2px solid; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px"> <center> <img src="star.gif"> <a href=index.html>Home</a> <img src="star.gif"> <a href=testimonials.html>Testimonials</a> <img src="star.gif"> <a href=employment.html>Employment</a> <img src="star.gif"> <p><b><big>Welcome!</big></b></p> <p>Content</p> </center> </td></tr> </table> </center> </body> ----------------------- |
