After that, adding a menu seems to progress things quite well, then working next on the footer also seems to work quite well. But it is so easy to get into a right mess with divs and tables here and there and no fixed goal as to what you are doing How do you guys do it??? Also do you ever download a page form the net and change the graphics a bit to make it look a bit different but basically keep the layout and i suppose pretty much reporduce the page with different graphics? What is the first thing you do, do you do it from scratch in notepad or do you use a wysiwyg editor, or do you use a template? Is the first thing you do make a table of div for the header and work from there or do you draw out the design you want? Ive had this code before back when I was in school. It simulated the windows start bar in the explorer where if you clicked the start button a list of directories came up and you could select a htm file within that was linked in it...and it would have a tab in the bottom next to that start button that would allow you to switch between them like tabs essentially. Each 'page' will consist of a picture on the right side and a product offer on the left. It's been a good 6 years since i have worked on a website. My biggest accomplishment so far was getting the contact form to work properly on the site. It does, i feel like i've done alot lol. Anyway, the current design is a rough layout (suggestions are welcome). It still needs a lot of little touches to make it look more "full". My biggest concern now is when your clicking from page to page the table jumps around. In firefox, the Contact Us and Services page are perfect, nice and centered. The image i'm using where the navigation buttons are is in place as well. When you go to the other pages though the table moves a bit and it looks like the image i'm using where the navigation buttons are starts to repeat. In Internet Exploder, everything doesn't look centered. There seems to be more space on the right than on the left, but the image i'm using for the navigation buttons seems to be fine, it's not repeating. I dunno what's causing this. I know different browsers display stuff in different ways but i'm far from having a good understanding as to why (that's why i'm here). I even copied txt from one of the messed up pages and pasted it on one of the pages that is ok and that didn't work. I assume it's a CSS thing. Also, try and avoid saying things like "Table designs are for teh n00bz!11!" or "This is why CSS is better than using a table design!!!". This is how i did it. Thank you. Hello, for one site only, IE6 fails to prompt to save password for a Login Form. This is a new site. IE6 *does* prompt for other sites (e.g. amazon.com sign-on) The IE autocomplete settings are set to prompt in the usual way. I've tried clearing all cookies/cache etc. There are no autocomplete disabled/off settings in the page. What is strange is that Firefox does prompt to save password for site for the problematic page, as I would expect IE to. The only thing that's maybe a bit unusual is that the INPUT name="..." in the Form contains unusual chars such as ^ and !. But i wouldnt have though that was a problem (?). Any ideas why the save password prompt is not appearing for this one site? thanks. |
