HTML - Start Web Site Design?
Hi,
I recently got myself my new laptop. I got a MacBook. And Mac's are great for web site design. I have very little design experience, just playing around with DreamWeaver. I am 13 and want to pursue a career in Web site design. What do I need? Where do I go? What should I learn? I am not too keen on coding a page, I would like to do it visually. Is this right? Thank you, all help is much appreciated. Nick. Similar TutorialsOk, I'm not a developer by any means, I've been seeking help on this forum for awhile, for little things. I'm basically going to attempt to learn this all on my own with help of course from this site, books, and others. I have designed the basic mock up for my site, and want to see where and how I can start from scratch. I'm trying to do this entirely in dreamweaver/css (is it possible) here is the mockup Now I'm inept in this stuff so bare with me... My main question is, whats the best way to divide up this layout as far as div tags go? It's wierd because I have the right hand side which incorporates a "header" (design part) and a journal, news, blog thing. And then the left hand side I intend on being static information that holds the content. Any advice? I know this is a mess, sorry, I'm a print guy Thanks I would like to know if any one would like to make a web site for me i cant pay you. But if you would like The experience and or practice I would really like the Help. It is a web site for a audio/visual production company based in Ontario that specialize in audio/visual production for live events, video post-production, video conferencing, special effects, audio recording, audio mastering, podcasting, and other services. If you would like to help me post here or add me on msn at jacob.pn@hotmail.com thanks. My website is split up into 4 parts. The top banner, the left menu, the right menu, and the center part. My left menu is floating left and my right menu is floating right. I want to add content in the center but when I do, the side menus are moved downwards. I tried floating the center but it pushed it past the left menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I been working on this issue I'm having I'm not sure what I need to do. I tried all kinds of stuff I just can't figure it out. I used photoshop to make the layout and then spliced it. I know I need to resplice it since one of the image repeats its self when it shouldn't but that not the problem. If you click the link you will see what is wrong. Any help, suggestions etc.. will be appreciated.. thanks http://zins184.com/dwa/test/ Hello all, I am using Dreamweaver to create my site, and I'm using the two column fixed left sidebar header and footer template. Anyway, I need to have two separate columns of text in the main content portion, and I'm not sure how to go about it. Is using a table somehow the easiest way to go about it? Help in either code format or in the design format would be helpful. ~~Idaho Parkour Hi everyone, I am to make a web site with five pages, with forms, frames, style sheets and jave script. *sigh* I have to have this done by monday( <=finals ). But I'm having a time getting started,I have a design in my head, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I want to make it something like the image in the attachment. But I want the image on the left side of the actual content. => How do I make this in the first image ? "howtomakething.JPG" With the background under a image? ( this is my freewebs site I have shown) and what I want to create the design is in the second upload. I hope I explained it clearly.... Sami ps, in the second image, the "pic" is the blue, the black is the content, green is navigation and the pink is what I want behind all that, the pic will be sorta transparent. Hi, basically i want to open an online clothing store via bigcartel. If i buy a site they said i can add my own html to change the layout etc. I don't know if it would be best to hire someone, or if i would be able to do it myself. I don't know anything about html etc, are there any websites that i can design a website on and get the code? I want something simple, similar to this http://olivemanna.com/ Thank you! hey guys - I was trying to add a little more kick to my website today and making the text appear in little windows I guess you would say - (I know the site is not complete and links are intentionally broken) if you look on the right of the page you will notice I added 2 table cells to round off the white - now the problem I can not figure out how to bring the white area over to the rounded edges whether I need to make the cell wider or if I need to add another cell - any help is appreciated. source: Http://www.medicalpracticeexams.com/index.asp Thanks Hello Everyone, Please help in build the code for the site , the layout should be as the below layout , I need to submit this by today EOD. Thanks and Regards, ceenuu2002@gmail.com Ok I need to take things like this forum: http://lmiinc.com/forum/ http://lmiinc.com/forum/calendar.php And make it active on the new site I'm building for LMI. So what files exactly do I need to copy to the new directory & then reference as a link in my navigation bar in all of my .html files? I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website? I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address.. e.g. A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar. Hope I explained ok, any responce would be much appricated! Thanks! Hi, I'm not too sure if this is the right section for this, so forgive me if it's not... I am about to embark on designing a new site, I have some experience of HTML and general design, but not too much beyond that. The site I am aiming to develop is to be a lot more dynamic than anything I have done in the past. I am not too sure on the best methods for acheiving what I want, so I will list the desired features. It would be really helpful if someone could tell me which languages I need to look at. I am prepared to learn for this (already started looking into very basic xml and php), but the main goal is an easy to use, well presented site in a relatively short time. The features I require are as follows: 1. A news/post section for only selected members to log in and add content (including the odd graphic). It would be useful if each post could exist as an independent 'module' and, for instance, appear on its own embedded on another site. 2. A music player (probably flash, this on itself is not an issue) that can also be embedded in another site. 3. A user forum (I have a MySQL database, but have no real experience of using it) - possibly using PHPBB?. 4. A number of linear comments sections that can exist below posts and other items (that does not necessarily require login, but can include a name and comment). 5. A site design which remains the same page for page but where the content can be entirely different (so the title and links etc. remain the same). Once again, I am not looking for detailed instructions on how to acheive this, just what I need to start looking at and any tips or problems I am likely to run into. I would be extremely grateful if someone would take the time to indulge me. Thanks in advance! Hi, please tell me what should I start learning to create an interactive website like facebook.com and photobucket.com . I have good knowledge in HTML and CSS but I want a website where people could register, have profiles, upload pictures, post comments to others etc. Just don't know how to start and what to read Please help Thank you <embed id="VideoPlayback" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=5893249792876905264&hl=en&fs=true" style="width:400px;height:326px" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> </embed> Here's my question, what do I need to do to make the player from above, to start playing as soon as the web page downloads ? By the way, I am a certified HTML newbie. Another word, please be easy on me. Thanks. So first off, I am looking to build a website that will incorporate a CMS. Do you have to use certain type of code types so that it will work with different CMS's? Read somewhere that certain dropdown menu's and such only worked with certain CMS... So I guess, if I am looking to build a site, do I need to know what CMS I am going to use from the start? So if you are starting a new page from scratch and don't really have a fixed idea in your head of a design do you just strt of with a template from DW(assuming you use DW). After that, adding a menu seems to progress things quite well, then working next on the footer also seems to work quite well. But it is so easy to get into a right mess with divs and tables here and there and no fixed goal as to what you are doing How do you guys do it??? Also do you ever download a page form the net and change the graphics a bit to make it look a bit different but basically keep the layout and i suppose pretty much reporduce the page with different graphics? Hi all, My roommate is looking to create a e-commerce website that consists of a hundreds of scrollable 'pages', left to right. Each 'page' will consist of a picture on the right side and a product offer on the left. The intent is to allow the user to easily scroll the 'pages', browsing through different types of products and pictures. She would want to use a platform or theme that is fully expandable and customizable, as she is eventually looking to implement social networking and magazine-like content and functionality. Again, she has no real design or coding experience. The only thing she is somewhat familiar with is Wordpress. So, what would be some of your suggestions for getting started? Thanks in advance What is the first thing you do, do you do it from scratch in notepad or do you use a wysiwyg editor, or do you use a template? Is the first thing you do make a table of div for the header and work from there or do you draw out the design you want? Well ive been coding games for BYOND (Build your own network dream) for a while it wasnt that dificult to grasp the coding style and i just recently started coding for windows phone 7 XNA games. Well as i was talking about coding for wp7 me and my friend came up with a really good idea for a new social networking website nothing like myspace or facebook so hey, what do we have to lose? Well the past 2 days ive learned basic HTML coding but i have no idea where to start. I really need help. Where do i run the HTML code i make to see how it would test as a web site is one of the main things i cant seem to figure out. I also need to know how to make different pages within the website Please help it would be greatly appreciated. Ive had this code before back when I was in school. It simulated the windows start bar in the explorer where if you clicked the start button a list of directories came up and you could select a htm file within that was linked in it...and it would have a tab in the bottom next to that start button that would allow you to switch between them like tabs essentially. I was wondering if anyone happened to have that code by chance its been a long time and I couldn't seem to find it by searching. Thanks in Advance |
