HTML - Header File Question
hi I need to know how you would create a header that simply just displays a picture . Can someone please post the code on here for that ?

Intuitively, I'd use <h1> for them, because they are the top-most headers. But here are the problems: I've read on more than one occasion that it is good for SEO to have a meaningful text inside <h1> that describes the page content. If <h1> contains just "Short Description" or "User Reviews" and that on every book review page, this is bad. The more appropriate way to do this, it seems, is to use <h1> for the BOOK TITLE only, and use something else to introduce sections. So something like HTML Code: <h2>Short description</h2> <h1>BOOK TITLE HERE</h1> <h2>User Reviews</h2> but this also seems like a bad idea. So, how do it correctly (with respect to HTML and SEO) without having to redesign my layout in any way? (That is, I don't want to put the book title anywhere else, e.g. not above the section title) Thanks in advance Ok, so basically, I have a website with a lot of pages. I have made a top menu bar, which goes on every page, and a copywrite notice for the bottom. I was wondering if its possible to maybe put those in some kind of external file, which will make them appear on every page, like a CSS file, so I don't have to paste that onto every page. The reason I asked, is because sometimes the menu is gonna change and I don't want to have to edit EVERY page of my site just for that. And if it does work, could someone tell me how to do it? I tried <header> </header> and <footer></footer> in a CSS but they didn't appear on my page, and yes, the page calls the CSS file correctly, because the styles still load up. I've seen (and cannot find again) a header piece of artwork that was justified a percentage distance from the left of the page. Another plain slither of header artwork was repeated seamlessly across the total width of the page. It went 'behind' the prime piece of artwork and reappeared. The 'joins' were invisible. The header seemed / appeared to be one piece of artwork that went across the page regardless of how wide the page was with the piece of artwork always remaining between the centre of the page and the left hand edge of the page. The distance of the piece of artwork got nearer to the left hand edge of the page the narrower the page got. How does one achieve that? Both images were hosted by ImageShack. Hi guys, I have a div on my page, which essentially just places a layer/table over the entire page and displays a "LOADING..." message, then promptly disappears when everything hidden beneath it has finished loading. I want to use this same div in several other pages, so I thought the best way would be to place it in an external file, then simply call it when required. I don't need any of the security, and bells and whistles for now. I will take take care of that once I get this initially setup. The following common code is not working in Firefox (3.0.11). It works in Safari (4.02) and IE7. The file uploader.php does nothing, it is blank, I'm merely trying to establish communication. There is a gap a few pixels high between the top images in my header and the bottom of the header where the navigation is. This gap doesn't appear in Firefox or Safari, only IE. Thanks again! Steve I have to insert javascript between <Body> & </Body>, of a HTML page. The page, however, is a header and only contains a <Body>. There is no </Body>. So, the script does not work. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this? - b PS: Forgot to mention that the javascrip does work. I've already tried it on a test HTML page that does have <Body> & </Body> and the script does work. |
