HTML - Create Mask Url In New Window [on Downloads Site]

Okay...so here's a tricky situation that I cannot find ANY examples of how it can work...IF it can even work. I'm trying to create this without the use of flash...Thanks for any help! Seriously!

So...I'll try to explain this in the best way that I can as I don't have an example to show...

There's a fixed background image. On top of that image is another image (exactly the same as the one below but a different color). There is a horizontal scrollbar below that controls the visibility of the image on top. Naturally, I thought a mask would be the best idea...but can a mask be scrolled. The image itself would not scroll at all....just the visibility of the image on top, think of it as a scroller that highlights a specific "strip" of an image and can be moved from side to side without the actual image scrolling...

Man...I really hope this makes sense!

I've been trying to hide the real location of my page
I have a domain that's being redirected into a folder of a hosting I have
the domain is something like www.*mydomain1*.com
where really is being hosted is www.*mydomain2*.com/mydomain1

well, if I go to www.*mydomain1*.com the address bar switches to: www.*mydomain2*.com/mydomain1

I would preffer to hide mydomain2 and show only www.*mydomain1*.com in the address bar
I don't mind if that gets fixed and doesn't reflects the page I'm browsing

I want to know how to mask a url address I hope this is the correct lingo.

I want people when they type www.mysite.com/page1 it goes to www.mysite.com/page1.html but I want to not have the html extension file name so basically

www.mysite.com/page1 is really www.mysite.com/page1.html but when users type in just www.mysite.com/page1 on their address bar it goes to www.mysite.com/page1.html

is there a way to do this? also where to i put the code if any?

I am programming a website for an iPhone or iPod Touch (well, currently planning on it) and I need to be able to handle a download and direct that download to a specified folder. Is there any way I can do that? (and yes I know Mobile Safari can't download most files, but it's for jailbroken iPhones so it's okay).

I have a download page on my site, but whilst my site is currently undergoing a facelift, I want to place all my downloads onto an index page that will simply show a list of all the downloadable files within a certain folder

I've seen it on a few sites before. It is just a simple list of all the files....click on one and it will download

I have created a website for my Dungeons & Dragons gaming group and part of the website has a section where they can download various documents that I have created over the years for the group. Is there any simple and easy (and free!) way that I can require them to put in a password in order to download these files? I am not looking for any fancy encryptions or something that would stump a hacker, but just something that would stump your casual viewer who is not a member of my D&D group. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have some music (mp3) on my site. I want to make a link so when someone clicks the link it will download the file. I don't want them to have to right click and click save target as or anything like that.

Can this be done? if not in just html can you use other code to do it?

So I'm working on some "bulk" format emails for my work, and they're just basic HTML designed pages with a few images included in the coding (<img src="www.google.com/image.jpg"></img> ...for example).

My problem is, not necessarily the format or design of the email itself, but rather that every time I send the email out, whether it be gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc, it prompts the recipient to download the images, either in full, or individually - as if they were attachments to the email itself.

For example (this is what our recipients see when they recieve the email...aside from this, the email looks fine):


The email displays correctly, but why does it prompt the recipient to download the images that are encoded in the message? Or better yet, why do other newsletter/bulk emails that I recieve from other companies NOT prompt me to download the individual images?

What am I missing here? Thanks for the help!

I am wondering if anyone know how to have a link, once clicked, open a popup window WHILE also changing the page in the existing window.

I know how to code them separately, but I do not know how to combine the two actions.

HTML Code:

<A HREF="javascript:popUp('popup.html')">link name</A>

My site currently uses the above code to open popup windows.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Here is the case. I have an HTML page that opens a pop-up. Within the popup I need upon click to open a new window. The code is as it should be according to all references:

<a href="some url" target="_blank">text</a>


Everything is ok with IE6 and IE7 - a new window is being opened.

What happens in Firefox is very strange - tabs are shown and the currently opened popup becomes one of the tabs and the new window opens in a new tab of the pop-up window instead in a new normal window.

Did anybody encounter the same problem? Any solutions?

I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website?

I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address..

e.g.
A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar.

I have two html file (first.html and second.html) i called the first.html from batch Command file, then the batch file calls the second.html file.
what i want is that while loading the second.html it will close the first.html using script. If its a parent then i can use top.close() or parent.close() but its not a parent window.
Here no parent file. please help me to do this.
