HTML - Page Loads Wide Then Condenses
Hi there,
my pages are loading wide and then jumpimg down to the size the table is set to be. Does anyone know how i can specify the width of content either through css or the div tag? Thanks in advance! Similar TutorialsI was put in charge of changing our website with no html knowledge. Hoping someone on here can help. The right margin on all of our pages is too wide. I'd like it to look more uniform. Any idea where I need to change this? http://www.sgccc.com/index.html Hi, I have a webpage which is 1740px long however, i would like it so the amount of background on both sides the viewer sees depends on the viewers resolution. Here is the address to the site: http://luminaskincare.ca/new/luminarightsize.html how can I make the site centered with no horizontal scroll? thanks in advance How wide should you make your page/site? Since most have different size monitors and settings, how wide should your page be so it's not tiny on one user's monitor, and not too big on another? I believe in thread titles that get to the point. I have a basic page, when the page loads I want people to see the top of the page for a few seconds while a flash starts to load but then I want the page to scroll down a bit so the visitor can see the flash load progress status. I just want code that I can copy into my page. I don't have access to the flash code. Greg (the page under design) www.mytcanada.com/designer.html I have a programmer in the US who starts pages for me and then I much around with them until it's looks like I want. He helps me when I get stuck but he's on holidays. Any help would be great. I'm trying to set up an affiliate popup for my buddies and each time someone clicks a certain link, there will be a popup, but each time you click the link the content on the popup is different. I was wondering if this is possible. Hi, How in HTML can you force a webpage to scroll down to a certain point of the page when the page loads up. Is this possible in HTML. Once it does scroll down to the certain point, I still want to be able to scroll up and down AFTER it has loaded up...is this possible. Can someone please urgently help. Thanks hey guys...i've seen the page of sourceforge where, when the page loads...the download of the file generates automatically.... i want the help related to implement that.... can anyone tell me how to do that.... thanks in advance... Need help determining why the below code will load on firefox but not internet explorer. fixed I have an html file which applies a css file to show a table. There is a banner at the top, and the main stuff on the page is in a div which is set to the width of the banner. However, I need to show some tables, and in some cases these will be wider than the banner. This is fine in IE (I'm told that it's really a bug, in that it ignores the standards and just whacks the table onto the page anyway), but in Firefox, it shows as much of the table as it can fit into the div, and then just chops the rest off. How can I get it to show the whole table? Thanks! Hello, Mozilla Firefox is doing some weird things to the content of my website (you can see it at http://www.mm-theory.com). What it does is, every so often, it widens some of the content of the page so that it spans from the very left edge of the table cell it's in to the very right edge. A quick refresh usually fixes the problem, but I'm wondering why it does this in the first place. Here's a few screen captures that shows the problem: Wide abstract: Normal abstract: The captures were taken from http://www.mm-theory.com/god/god.htm I really doubt it's the code for the abstract since refreshing solves the problem, but here it is anyway: Code: </td></tr> <tr><td class="abstract" colspan=2> <center> <table class="abstract" cellpadding=10 cellspacing=0> <tr><td> <!-- #include file="../includes/god.abs.inc" --> </td></tr> </table> <br><br> </center> </td></tr> The file god.abs.inc is a plain text file with nothing but text in it (i.e. no code). I'm thinking it might have something to do with how I close the body of the page since it seems to have to do with not completing properly. Here's the code for that: Code: ... </td></tr> </table> </body> </html> I only encounter this problem in Firefox. Any guesses as to why? Hi all, I have a site to show some pictures, the only problem is some are landscape and some are portarit. At the moment I am putting the portrait thumbs onto a landscape black background, but I know this is a bodge. How can I have all the thumbs sit nicely next to each other regardless of their shape? Here is the site; www.streetpicture.co.uk Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks, Hello, okay, so i was thinking about redesigning my site because i never really have done so before. but as i was thinking, i was thinking it would be nice to be able to fit more stuff across the screen width wise.... right now my website has like 750px width... and i was wondering if i increased it some, would the majority of the people not have a problem viewing it? and if so, how many pixels wide do u think i could go before its too wide... i have my screen resolution said at 1280x1024... does anybody know what the majority of people set their screen resolutions to? any help would be great..thanks.. Hi Not sure why, but IE hangs when loading my site. However, ideally I'd like to prevent the hidden divs loading their content until they are visible. A good example is the index page of the above link. There is an iframe for the flash animation that changes to a static picture when you resize to a smaller window. If you were to open the site on the smaller window (such as a tablet or mobile for example) it would be better that the iframe were never loaded at all. Any suggestions? Hello! I hope that someone in this forum can help me solve the mystery that has been giving me a headache for two days now. I have a page that has a couple of iframes in it. when I view the page in firefox they show perfectly fine, however when viewed with IE one loads but the second one only shows a blank white page. They reside in a table, and are in a single row of that table. the code looks like this: <tr><td width="535" height="285" colspan="6" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" width="535" height="285" src="/members/updates.html"></iframe></td> <td width="5" height="285" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <img src="/members/graphics/spacer.gif" width="5" height="285" border="0"></td> <td colspan="2" background="/members/graphics/newsbg.jpg" width="240" height="285" alt="" border="0"><iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" width="240" height="285" src="/members/news.html"></iframe></td> </tr> Is there some reaso that the second one isn't showing? I have two different pages that are designed like this. They look fine in firefox 1.5. IE gives me nothing. I don't know if this belongs here, because I'm not sure what I would do to do this, but here's my question: Is there any way I can make one webpage load if the IP the user is browsing from is in a certain range, and an alternate page if the user's IP is not part of that range? If so, how do I do this (this method is for a false block page that only appears from certain IPs to discourage folks from further attempting finding what is blocked. Sorta like a puzzleish thing instead of a traditional password - not to be secure, just for the fun of it.) Thank you in advance! Hi I have an html page that contains a .swf (index.html). I'd like to make sure that browsers always load the site, and not get it from their cache. I've heard of a thing called cache busting, but there is little info on it when dealing with anything other than a Wordpress site. Does anyone know about it or have info on any other way to make sure the site automatically loads directly? I don't want to have to rely on users manually clearing their cache. Cheers Shaun Hello Reader, I am very new at html (so please no CSS) and this is what Im trying to do 1) Have my logo on the far right and the page 2) Put the website name in the centre of the page Ive done a wrap (I think and it seems to be working) the problem is: the website name is not going in the centre of the whole page but the centre of the page from where the logo ends (on the right of the page). So if you look at the company name its not in the centre of the page but in the centre of the page from where the logo ends. I have decided to work with that as it will actually look good with what I want to do - My question is this: If I did want to centre the company name to the middle of the page could I use   (loads of them!) to position it exactly where I wanted on the page and is that good practice? And if not what can I use in its stead?? Any advice will be very much appreciated!!!! Hi, Background: I have a small page that need to be embeded into a bounch of other html pages. Help needed: 1. Please provide the html chunk that I can use to embed the small page in to other html pages. 2. Is there a way of not using iframe? Can I use <Object> or <embed>? How? --------------------------- mba colleges in london hospitality management diploma Some mouses today have horizontal scroll, some call the tilt. It looks something like: http://www.htmlforums.com/attachment...1&d=1242556560 I noticed that many websites they code those horizontal scroll to go to next/prevous page. For example Discuz! forum system has this function. While you browse hundreds or thousands of posts separated into pages, the horizontal scroll can take you to previous page or next page.(not browser back/forward) How do I code like that? Or any examples? |
