HTML - Point Of Discussion: Browser Rendering
Known issues between all browsers past and present
Ok, we know that as technology moves forward, some things dont. I'm no hot shot on these things and would be interested to know of all that exist to date. So what i would like is a point of reference to all Coders of all levels listing all the things that we just shouldn't do anymore. Please contribute and Add anything worth mentioning or even questions about things you don't understand. Similar TutorialsHi All, I am using MozillaFirefox as the browser. At certain times ,on click of buttons browser renders blank screens and also on click of links it shows the viewsource(code)for that page. If any one knows solution for this problem please advise me. Thanks in advance. Thank You, Nimitha Hi there, I maintain a Rap/Hip-pop web site for a group of my friends, all that we have on the site is a quick intro, and a way in flash for people to listen through the web browser to our songs. We don't offer to sell anything at this point, and simply want to add some additional features. I was wanting to make a like a bulletin board or forum for various topics related to music and creation and other aspects of that business. I have my web site hostied by someone else, and I have access to MySQL and PHP and stuff like that, but I have limited control over permissions and stuff like that, so was wondering what is the best way to approach this, use a free service provided by someone or something simple ? Thanks! If any of you want to know, this is the site: www.3pstudios.net - nothing to sell, or market, no ads. I am learning web design and I need to know what I need to learn. Let me see if I can explain the concept that I would like to learn: I want to have a site where a customer fills out a form and then the information on that form gets placed on its own page. Does that make sense? I remember once seeing a CGI script for a website that would self generate new pages, but I can't remember what this concept is called. Thanks so much! Marie I'm taking classes over html, and as we were learning hotspot's i din't understand what the point of it was, because you could just use href and img src to link the image.. Why do all the work of finding the coords?? Hi, I have the html coding below that shows the bullet point with a caption below it. How would i format the actual bullet point to be a different size and colour to the caption below it? Thanks Code: <ol> <li>abc</li></br> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <li>abcd</li></br> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <li>abcde</li></br> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa </o> I am desiging some webpages. so if we see this website www.symphonysv.com, there we can see some text in the middle row. when we point those texts with mouse, the image in the side changes. How to do this........... Thanks, Vinutha. Hello all. I am currently putting together a flash intro for a friend of mine. He operates a World of Warcraft guild website through DKPSystem.com. While DKPsystem.com does normally use a subdomain for the registered guild, you can implement your own domain through the backend. He has done this. So, here is my problem. What I want to do is create the flash intro and connect it up with a index.html file. Considering that DKPsystem.com uses a structure in which the user cannot upload files via FTP, I have no idea how to implement this flash intro. Any ideas how this would be done? Thanks in advance for all of your help. Please, tell me,what's the problem? These things can't work together? Please help! I am creating an FBML page in Facebook and can not figure out how to do an anchor point in the page - mostly because instructions online only tell you how to do it and show snippets of code, not the entire portion, so I can't tell where to put the two different parts of the code (a name & a href with #). This is the code I have: <a name="Current Projects" id="Current Projects"> <a href="http://www.facebook.com/familysearchwiki#currentprojects"><strong>Current Projects</strong></a></a><p> I want it to link to the "Current Projects" section of the document. I do not know how to set this up. Seems like it should be easy... I know it is, right? I need to know how to define in html a 'class' for lack of a better term so i can make the hyperlink go to page.html#specificpoint I know how to do the hyperlink, just not define where it would load to... Hello. I just joined the forums because I want to start making websites again. I used to do it about 3 years ago ( nothing hardcore), but i knew enough to make basic websites. Now, I want to learn the more indepth stuff. Such as Mysql, perl, css, java, javascript etc... i dont even know what someof those are. So heres my question. WHERE SHOULD I START? I want to start from scratch. I dont even rememeber some of the html stuff, so where do you guys think i should start? what are the fundamentals i need to know in order to move on to the more difficult stuff. One last thing, can someone tell me the difference between html/xhtml/xml.. im kinda lost... Hi, I have just joined the forum, so hello!! Although the standard margins for bullets are fine for what I want, I find when they are to the right of an image they have a different indent. I have managed to correct this in FF by using <li style="margin-left:40px"> but the bullets are invisible with IE. Any ideas? Does anyone know if there is an HTML code, were when you click at a certain point on the screen, it is a link to another document? Hi all, Im having a problem with unordered lists. When I view it in Dreamweaver, the bullet points are small, but when I view in browser, they are huge. Ive tried adding classes to the CSS, but not sure what im doing wrong. Ive got one class that is: .bulletList { padding:0px; margin:12px; } I tried adding a different class for the actual lists: .bulletSize { font-size:12px; } But all this did was change the size of the font and not the size of the bullet point. Can anyone suggest what I could do to fix this? Thanks in advance How do I place a button at a specific point on the webpage, somehow type co ordinates of a point on the page and the button will appear there? I have Googled for hours and still can't figure out what I have done wrong. In FF my site looks fine but in IE 7, the content gets shoved down below my sidebars. http://www.pliggs.com Anyone able to spot the issue? Geoserv. I have an IE rendering problem. Does anyone know how I can fix it fast? I need to finish this damned thing by tomorrow and it doesnt look good. I have played with doctypes and css hacks and it doesnt seem to work . Here the page:- http://www.parentk12.com/wnp/index.html As you can see in FF its fine but in IE its a mess. I'd be grateful for any help or guidance. I've been puzzled on how my website is rendering in IE, any insight would be really appreciated. the url is nudm.org/mea 1) the logo image seems to be a lot lower quality on IE than on firefox/safari any thoughts on why? 2) also on IE, there is no border above the nav buttons when they are hovered over/active Again any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Two of the cells seems to be rendering backwards. Why is that? I'm just getting started w/ html, browsing the Jalfrezi tutorial site for tables (see merging/combining cells), and found this odd example. Code: <TABLE BORDER=1> <TR> <TH ROWSPAN=2></TH> <TH COLSPAN=2>Rating</TH> </TR> <TR> <TH>Sad</TH> <TH>Cool</TH> </TR> <TR> <TH ROWSPAN=2>Artist</TH> <TD>Belle & Sebastian</TD> <TD>Michael Bolton</TD> </TR> <TR> <TD>Bentley Rhythm Ace</TD> <TD>Mariah Carey</TD> </TR> </TABLE> It renders sad/cool flipped. Shouldn't cool be to the left of sad because it is declared before it? Thanks. I can not seem to figure this issue out. I know certain browers render different ... for IE FF uses alt tags and IE title tags... (I think thats right) but this issue seems weird there is a shadow around my List in IE but not in Firefox and the first line is broken to a second line in Internet explorer take a look This might not even be fixable, Thx!
