HTML - Need Help, Opacity On My Tables Is Affecting The Content In My Table
I need help/
I applied an opacity on my table background. But the problem is, i have content such as images and text areas in my table which are getting affected by the opacity i placed on my table. I applied a 14% opacity to my table and now its making my images and textbox inside my table invisible. anyway to fix this problem. here is an example of my code HTML <table class="home"> <tr> <th>Welcome</th> </tr> <tr> <td width="100" height="200"> <p><img src="Web Photos/welcomebanner.gif" class="feature" width="1025" height="200" /></p> </tr> CSS table.home td { font-size: small; border: 1px solid FFFFFF; background-color: #FFFFFF; filter: alpha(opacity=14); } Similar Tutorialshello, I'm an HTML novice who designed/maintains my own site without any expertise at all. One problem I can't seem to figure out: When the browser window is sized more narrowly than the content on the page, the table sections get shoved down underneath one another. Most sites I see don't do that -- when the browser window narrows, the site content stays in place. Any insight about what my error is? You can check out the problem at www.adamgwon.com. Thanks much. I am trying to create a table that does not change size depending on what the screen resolution is set to. I know that it is good practice to use percentages, however, as I am used to using pixels, I am finding it frustrating as I don't get the desired table size I want when the resolution is changed Here is an example of the table, if anyone can help me with the changes, it would be much appreciated or if you could point me in the direction of a tutorial that makes the table resize to reflect the chosen resolution preference, that too would be welcomed Code: <font color="#FFFFFF" face="Verdana" size="2"> <table width="810px" align="center" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr bgcolor="#000033"> <td height="130px" colspan="2"><div align="center">Header</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td width="130px" height="130px" bgcolor="#000066"><div align="center">Login</div></td> <td width="680px" height="130px" bgcolor="#000099"><div align="center">Image</div></td> </tr> <tr bgcolor="#0000CC"> <td height="80px" colspan="2"><div align="center">Page Title</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center"></div></td> <td rowspan="15" bgcolor="#0066FF"><div align="center">Body</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 1</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 2</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 3</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 4</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 5</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 6</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 7</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 8</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 9</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 10</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 11</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center">Link 12</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center"></div></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#0033FF"><div align="center"></div></td> </tr> <tr bgcolor="#003399"> <td height="30px" colspan="2"><div align="center">Footer</div></td> </tr> </table></font> Thanks in advanced Hello. I've searched numerous times on Google for answers to this problem I'm having and I'm getting no help. I've posted here before with the same website but I have a different layout (or I'm making one) so I have a different problem. To view the website click here, although I don't have the new layout up on the web yet. I have a picture as the background and I have the semi-transparent tables, but the text is semi-transparent as well and I really don't like that. The code I have for the semi-transparent tables is: Code: table, tr, td { filter: alpha(opacity=75);filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=75); -moz-opacity:0.75; } So that's all fine and good, but I can't get the text to show up solid. Is there a way that I can have the semi-transparent tables and full opacity text? I'm extremely bad with CSS, so I don't know much what I'm doing here. Hi Normally, when you have more than one table in your code, the tables will be placed one under each other. Example: <table> ... </table> <table> ... </table> When you want the tables to be placed next to each other, you need to set the align attribute. Example: <table align="left"> ... </table> <table align="left"> ... </table> BUT: When you do it like in the 2nd example (tables next to each other), in Firefox, the tables will wrap to a new line if there is no more space. In Internet Explorer, the tables will not wrap. The result is a horizontal scrollbar or "hidden tables". Why this? How can I make the tables wrap also in Internet Explorer as it does in Firefox? Is it possible with a special CSS definition or with a special DIV/SPAN tag? Thanks for your help praiser Hi. I set the opacity of content tables within my webpage to 0.90 so that my background can be seen slightly. However my images in these content tables are also see through. How do i make the images 100% opaque? I have tried entering the image code like this: <IMG SRC="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f293/jmzcherry/pete-doherty-gio-goi.jpg" STYLE=filter:alpha(opacity=100) WIDTH="245" HEIGHT="250" ALIGN="left"> but that didnt work. Heres how i did the opacity for the tables: table table table td { background-color:FFFFFF; filter:alpha(opacity=90); -moz-opacity:0.90; opacity:0.90; -khtml-opacity:0.90; } table table table table td {filter:none;} Hello, im trying to make a webpage and figured invisible tables would be a good way to structurise the page, ive ran into a problem tho as in the cell content alignment is wrong. heres what im trying to achieve: Code: ____________________________________________ | navigation |text starts from up here | | navigation | | | navigation | | | navigation | | |____________|_____________________________| but while the navigation bar is always the same height the text cell is sometimes taller sometimes shorter thus i get situations where the small amount of text starts from the middle of the cell instead of top as i want it to and when there is alot of text the navigation bar moves to the middle of the streched out cell heres the html im using right now Code: <table> <tr> <td> <a href=blah blah>link</a><br> <a href=blah blah>link</a><br> etc </td> <td> here is the text </td> </tr> </table> please help Does anyone know how to fix this? as you can see, there's random content at the bottom left there. it's not supposed to be and is supposed to be located in the column that's very wide there, but for some reason is throwing it down below the left column. how can i fix this? http://erocsteady.freehostia.com/tes...ents/index.php ^you can see what im talking about here Hello I'm trying to work out a way of allowing my main content to increase without it stretching my nav and ruining the formatting. I have a table, 2 columns, 10 rows, cell spacing 4 I've set the main content (right) to span all 10 rows. I want to be able to increase the main content without it stretching my rows. Row height set to 40px. My answer so far has been to add an 11th row, turn it white and set the height so that the combined height of the cells in the left had column matches the height of the right hand one. This is fine, but a bit of nuisance if you want numerous pages where the main content takes up a different amount of space. Is there anyway to set the 11th cell on the left hand column to stretch along with my main content, without it messing up the height of the 10 calls above? You'd think you'd be able to set it to height = 100% or something, but apparently not. Many thanks, monki I have a list within a table and much of the content has links to two different javascript codes. One is a popup javascript to so that I can control the window size and the other is a toggle.display javascript to show/hide specific details about my list. The scripts run fine, but for some odd reason the content in my table gets cut off randomly towards the end of the list. I went through to make sure that I didn't have any div tags nested.. etc.. and i'm now at a complete loss as to why my content within the table gets randomly cut off. Any help would me much appreciated. The link for the site is he http://netimpact.org/displaycommon.c...rticlenbr=2440. You'll notice at the very bottom of the table it randomly stops.. Heylo, On my website, the pages i use to link to content that is added regularly such as a News page etc. i use a tables, and i add a new table each time i add new content so that i can have it at the top of the page. An example is he http://ryv.org.uk/news However the amount of content i have is growing, so i want to split the content into two colums so i have double the amount in the same space. But i need the page to have the newest content at the top, then the next newest to move to the side, then to move the the next line in the table...i have a diagram below to explain what i mean. Is there a way to do this with tables? And how else can it be done? HTML Code: <table id="content" width="850" height="400" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="5" align="center"> <tr> <td width="28" valign="top"></td> <td width="584" valign="top"> </td> <td width="20" valign="top"> </td> </tr> </table> This is my above table and I want it to lock content inside a td if that makes sense, for example... if I type 1000 letters into the middle td of a width of 584, the table will get bigger and it looks strange. How can I fix this issue? good day! This is probably a simple problem but here it is. http://www.innovativemovesus.com/referral-form.html At the bottom of the form there is a resizable comment field. When the field is expanded to the right, it moves the column to the right along with it. I'd like to prevent this. If only it would be resizable up to, and no more than, the constraints of the table cell. I suspect it has something to do with specifying the width of the cell (which I have done). Thanks for the help! Help please- I'm trying to put an input box into a table with a background. However, when I do- the background keeps enlarging even though the text inside of it fits inside perfectly. Look: HTML Code: <TABLE background="http://www.uzumakiworld.com/uzuvideo/tabletoptab.gif" border= 0px; cellspacing=0 height=26px width=289px" align="center"> <td> <script> <!-- Hide from old browsers /****************************************** * Find In Page Script -- Submitted/revised by Alan Koontz (alankoontz@REMOVETHISyahoo.com) * Visit Dynamic Drive (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/) for full source code * This notice must stay intact for use ******************************************/ // revised by Alan Koontz -- May 2003 var TRange = null; var dupeRange = null; var TestRange = null; var win = null; // SELECTED BROWSER SNIFFER COMPONENTS DOCUMENTED AT // http://www.mozilla.org/docs/web-developer/sniffer/browser_type.html var nom = navigator.appName.toLowerCase(); var agt = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); var is_major = parseInt(navigator.appVersion); var is_minor = parseFloat(navigator.appVersion); var is_ie = (agt.indexOf("msie") != -1); var is_ie4up = (is_ie && (is_major >= 4)); var is_not_moz = (agt.indexOf('netscape')!=-1) var is_nav = (nom.indexOf('netscape')!=-1); var is_nav4 = (is_nav && (is_major == 4)); var is_mac = (agt.indexOf("mac")!=-1); var is_gecko = (agt.indexOf('gecko') != -1); var is_opera = (agt.indexOf("opera") != -1); // GECKO REVISION var is_rev=0 if (is_gecko) { temp = agt.split("rv:") is_rev = parseFloat(temp[1]) } // USE THE FOLLOWING VARIABLE TO CONFIGURE FRAMES TO SEARCH // (SELF OR CHILD FRAME) // If you want to search another frame, change from "self" to // the name of the target frame: // e.g., var frametosearch = 'main' //var frametosearch = 'main'; var frametosearch = self; function search(whichform, whichframe) { // TEST FOR IE5 FOR MAC (NO DOCUMENTATION) if (is_ie4up && is_mac) return; // TEST FOR NAV 6 (NO DOCUMENTATION) if (is_gecko && (is_rev <1)) return; // TEST FOR Opera (NO DOCUMENTATION) if (is_opera) return; // INITIALIZATIONS FOR FIND-IN-PAGE SEARCHES if(whichform.findthis.value!=null && whichform.findthis.value!='') { str = whichform.findthis.value; win = whichframe; var frameval=false; if(win!=self) { frameval=true; // this will enable Nav7 to search child frame win = parent.frames[whichframe]; } } else return; // i.e., no search string was entered var strFound; // NAVIGATOR 4 SPECIFIC CODE if(is_nav4 && (is_minor < 5)) { strFound=win.find(str); // case insensitive, forward search by default // There are 3 arguments available: // searchString: type string and it's the item to be searched // caseSensitive: boolean -- is search case sensitive? Help! Thanks for reading my post! Helllo all, I'm hoping someone with more HTML skills than I have can see where my problem is with trying to modify a pre-built website. I have an area at the top of my webpage where I'm trying to just add a small iframe that will contain a link to a related website. What happened when I added this in what I thought was the right place, is that it appeared in place of where other content was supposed to be. I then tried to contain the problem by creating a table, and given that each of the two existing pieces of content were in div blocks, I put each div block within a table data element (td). Unfortunately, even with specified column widths, the best of the results I've achieved results in my site search content having the button get pushed onto a new line and thus almost invisible, leaving the text input box in place. It's as if the PHP stuff in that div block is somehow pushing the browser to considerably widen the first cell unless I restrict it's width. The site you can see this on is: http://debtfreenewsblog.com The site is somewhat slow - takes 30 to 45 seconds to load (a separate issue, but if you happen to see why, let me know), but once it does, you can use view source and see the very first table and you'll see the resulting HTML. Dreamweaver's design view doesn't do anything to indicate why there's a problem, and kind of hides reality from me. There is a style sheet, or perhaps even more than one, for the site, and as I'm not familiar with exactly how that works together with everything else, that may well be where the problem is. Any and all help will be appreciated. My objective is to just get the search button to come back to the same line as the text input box. Steve (aka sgmunson) Hello everyone, I am in deep trouble... :-( ... For some reason Safari does not adapt the table height to the content size. All other browsers automatically adapt the table height to the content size, but Safari doesn't, and the result of the website I am developing, when seen on Safari, is a mess... Can someone tell me how to make Safari adapt automatically adapt table height to content size? Thank you very much in advance and anyway... Cheers, John You know this code in html: <img src="klematis.jpg" width="150" height="113" alt="klematis" style="opacity:0.4;filter:alpha(opacity=40)" /> It's used to do the opacity of an image my question is how can I do this with css jus so I donot have to put it for every image. I have a grid jpeg that should be showing up just right of the news text in this link: http://kos-mediadesign.com/news.html. I have the opacity of the image set to .4 / 40/% and it displays perfectly in all major browsers on windows and OSX 10.5, except when it is viewed on my laptop which is OSX 10.6. I'm just after noticing now that the image actually appears underneath the drop shadow effect of an overlaying window, say, if you have a finder window open on top of the browser. Very strange. Has anyone experienced this and is there a work around? How do I do the code below in css cause it takes to long to put that for each image i know how to do the opacity but how do i do the mouseover and mouse out in css? <img src="_/programming/HTML/Webpage/menus.jpg" width="230" height="60" alt="menus" onmouseout="this.style.opacity=1;this.filters.alpha.opacity=100" onmouseover="this.style.opacity=0.4;this.filters.alpha.opacity=40" /> the problem in question is located here HERE the links DIV BG is faded like I want but everything in the div is faded too, ie. the Images. How can I keep images and text from fading? Thanks How do I do the code below in css cause it takes to long to put that for each image i know how to do the opacity but how do i do the mouseover and mouse out in css? <img src="_/programming/HTML/Webpage/menus.jpg" width="230" height="60" alt="menus" onmouseout="this.style.opacity=1;this.filters.alpha.opacity=100" onmouseover="this.style.opacity=0.4;this.filters.alpha.opacity=40" /> |
