HTML - Problem Linking To A Zip File
I am very new to HTML coding, so please be patient. My problem is this: I made a relative link via an Anchor tag to a .zip file, intending it (the .zip file) to be a download. When I access the link, instead getting a File Download alert box ( [run][save][cancel] ,which is what I wanted) the contents of the .zip file are displayed in the IE7 window. Is this normal? When I make the same link to an .exe file, I get the (desired) File Download alert box. Here is the snippet of my relative Link:
Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <span class="button2" title="Download Utility Launcher"> <a class="style3" href="stuff/Utility Launcher.zip">Download Now</a></span> Again, I'm new to this stuff, so the Link setup could be all wrong, for all I know. But I would appreciate some help and/or comment. Thanks, JFB Similar TutorialsI'm trying to link to a bookmark within a Word file. The code I'm using is: <a href="http:/internal/support_services/real_estate/pubsdata/Related_Docs/4-10958.doc#ole_res1">Business Practice - Management Approval Matrix (Section 5.33)</a> I've also tried an absolute link with no luck. The file opens but doesn't go to the bookmarked section. Could it possibly be an issue with our Interwoven CMS? This is actually the first time I've tried to do this since we moved to a CMS. On a side note, if I save the document to a local folder and adjust the code accordingly, it works. We've tried this in IE6 and 7. Any ideas? Hi all, how can i upload a file and when i click the submit button i go automatically to other web page. I am using some code that uploads the file perfectly, but i can't get a way to go to other page when i click the submit button. If someone can help me giving me an example of how to do that, or tell me what to change in my code i'll appreciate any kind of help. Here is my code: PHP Code: <?php function error($errorMsg) { ?> <script> alert("<?php echo $errorMsg;?>"); </script> <?php } global $folder; $folder = "uploaded"; if(!is_dir($folder)) if(!mkdir($folder)) { error("Can't, neither, access, nor create, the upload folder"); die(); } ?> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <style> body { background-color:#000000; } </style> <title>Upload</title> </head> <body> <center><h1><font color = "#FFFFFF" > Upload </font></h1></center> <?php function mainPage() { ?> <iframe style="display:none" name="fileUploader"></iframe> <form method="POST" target="fileUploader" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="?action=fileUploader"> <div><input name="file" type="file" STYLE="color:#FFFFFF; size="60"></div> <input type="submit" value="Upload" > </form> <?php } function fileUploader() { global $folder; function storeFile($folder,$tmpFileName,$fileName) { if(!is_uploaded_file($tmpFileName)) { error("Invalid file"); return; } if(!move_uploaded_file($tmpFileName, $folder . This might belong in the CSS forum? I'm trying to link to the "Legislation" tab from the footer links. All of this content is on one page and i can't seem to link to it. I tried adding an anchor to Legislation but that didn't work. there must be a way. The page is built using Spry in Dreamweaver CS3. thanks for your help http://www.dynamitedave.com/rsc/index.shtml Last week I decided to build my first site to get a better idea of how it is done. I found the code for a scrolling list in an old design I had from years ago. I cut the code out and placed it into a new template I am editing. It'll work, but there's two problems. I've spent about 6 hours searching for solutions or whole new code to use but it seems like there isn't much use for a scrolling list any more. Problem One: There doesn't seem to be any way to "execute" the selection on the list. I've placed the code below. I can scroll down the list - click on, say, Game 2, but it doesn't link anywhere. How would I either add a button that says "Go" and sends the user to the desired game url or have them simply click the title and link there? Problem Two: For some reason it displays completely differently in Firefox, Safari and IE. Not just a subtle difference: http://www.myimgs.net/images/zgds.jpg (Firefox) http://www.myimgs.net/images/aymd.jpg (IE) http://www.myimgs.net/images/dcqk.jpg (Safari) How would I make it display a little more uniformly across all browsers? I tried changing the values below but I don't see any difference at all. I'd rather it looked like the Safari version. --- <td valign="top" width="300" align="right"> <table width="300" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td valign="top" rowspan="2"><form> <table width="300" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td> <select name="highlight" multiple class="inputs3"> <option><game.html="#">Game 1</a></option> <option><game.html="#">Game 2</a></option> <option><game.html="#">Game 3</a></option> </select></td> </tr> </table> </form></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </td> <td width="1" height="80%" bgcolor="#CBCBCB"><img src="images/dot.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0"></td> </tr> right now i've only got 1 line of code in my css file and that code is div { background-color: #FCOC00 } do you need to put your codes in some sort of table or open / closed code thing with brackets or something ?? cuz with that code just the way it is when i view in fire fox IE and netscape.... all is good, when i view in opera though i get this image... i hosted the image since not every1 has opera... http://img104.imageshack.us/my.php?i...raissuerg5.gif the "Home" is tabed back like that for some reason that space was never there it was as tight as could be to the text with that table... any advice on how i can fix this? maby i can center the tables threw the .css and call that up to fix it... I have problem with playing wav file in mozilla. but working fine with internet explorer. I am using <embed> and <bgsound> . is there any way to play sound in mozilla urgent. please help Dear Members: I have a funny problem. I have two html files. I am trying to use test2.html as an Include file inside test1.html. I am not having any luck test1.html file reading test2.html. Test1.html code --------------------- <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title> Your Title Here </title> <meta name="Generator" content="Alleycode HTML Editor"> <meta name="Description" content="Your description here..."> <meta name="Keywords" content="Your keywords here..."> </head> <body> <h1>This is my n include 1</h1> <h2>This is my n include 2</h2> <!--#include virtual="test2.html"--> </body> </html> test2.html code <h1>This is my include 3</h1> <h2>This is my include 4</h2> What I expect to see in the browser: This is my include 1 This is my include 2 This is my include 3 This is my include 4 But I see only This is my include 1 This is my include 2 It seems like the test2.html file is completely being ignored. May be it is a simple issue. But I tried everything. Both files reside on the same directory. If anybody could give me a suggestion, I shall truly appreciate it. As they say "It is driving me nuts"... Please help. On the website host i use i can put the location of the file (example, images/banner.png) but how do i get it from a diffferent file. like if the file i need is in the images file but my html file is in the "javascript" file Here is kinda what i mean. this shows where the files kind of a ( ">" points to the file in that folder ) javascript > index.html images > banner.png .. so how do i get the image from the image file without having to put the full url to it? because i cant put "images/banner.png" cause its going to think the image file is in the "javascript" (its going to go to "javascript/images/banner.png", instead of just "images/banner.png)file since the html file is in the "javascript" file and not the main page. if you dont understand this tell me and ill try to explain it better, i tryed to make it as clear as i could. http://americancreek.com/inmedia/tre...ek/player.html I am having trouble with an articulate file. My html file is present in a folder with folder structure like "E:\UsersReport". Inside this folder there is another folder named "Image". This folder contains JPEG images. The html file contains href relative links to the images in this "Image" folder. The relative links are given as href = ".\Image\A.jpg". In the converted html files, the relative links is not working. For accesing the images we need to give the full image path in mht files. Is there any method to give relative links in mht files??? Now however when my teacher tries to open my files, all she gets is that file that cant be found stuff. Do you think maybe the problem could be that my files are too complicated and that maybe i should put all my pages in one place and then all my other files in folders underneath those... please tell me your advice, with many thx Sam Below are two notepad docs. I want to add a link from one to the other. Whenever I add the <a href="..... "></a> nothing shows up when I view the webpage. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
