HTML - Dreamweaver Template Problem [was 'templates']
I'm not sure this is the correct place to post this question. Please redirect me if it is not.
I am trying to use a template for all the pages on my site. I am using Dreamweaver. When I apply the template to a new page, it appends the path of the template directory to all my links, and won't let me edit them. I'm not sure in general how templates are supposed to work. Can I do this without Dreamweaver? Is there a good FAQ on templates somewhere that I can read? Thanks. Similar TutorialsHi, I'm looking at creating a website for a university assignment, and am not allowed to create the code in Dreamweaver. Is there any way to store the constant layout components in one file, referenced by each separate page in the site, so I wouldn't need to go through each page to edit the design after I've built it? Put another way, is it possible to use template-style files to apply to HTML pages, without using the Dreamweaver's built-in varieties? If this is possible in JavaScript or PHP instead of HTML, please let me know. Thanks for your help, Christian I have a Dreamweaver template located in a folder called "Templates" - the default and seemingly unchangeable folder Dreamweaver saves .dwt files in. All my .htm files are located one folder up. When I make a new page from this template, my new page can't find images because the template sees them in this directory: "../resources/images" and the page sees them in this one: "resources/images". The file in question is part of the background and therefore not an editable region, so I can't just remove the "../" to link the file correctly. Previously, Dreamweaver has updated the links to wherever I save my .htm file but not today. What am I doing wrong? In the Optional zones only one of my zones will update! I save the template and it's fine but the rest of my pages won't update!! What gives?? swingrays ---------- hi, for some reason i cannot see the images i am interting in the dreamweaver split funbction, however when i preview it, all is ok in internet explorer hmmm http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?i...titled3pd9.jpg I would like the image at the very bottom of that pic to go underneath my iframe, how would i do this? Thanks in advance. All help is appreciated! One of the pages on my website goes all wonky when I view it in a browser, but it looks fine in Dreamweaver. I know the code is correct, and what's weird is that when I right click an image and view its properties, the page straightens out. I think it may be because I'm aligning a lot of the pics left or right as opposed to default, but I really don't want to change the look of the page. If you look he www.lovefresh.com/bath.html you'll see what I mean. I can also post the code if that helps...thanks for any help!! Tara I am working on an index page with menu for a friend and originally did the page an menu separately....I was able to get them to work together but when i do the In-Dreamweaver preview does not work...This is very important because she will need the preview to make her changes... Everything looks fine upon viewing in browser but no preview.... I think it probably has something to do with me using two different body tages with two different csses....Can somebody take a look and see if they can find my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! You can view an online version at: http://www.firstpresgreenville.org/NEWFPATEST/menu.html Dear I made an html newsletter with dreamweaver and I used the swap image behavior. I can view the result perfectly in explorer. Now I mailed it to my own mailbox (via explorer) and in outlook (and also in hotmail) the swap image effect doesn't appear.(the second photo is not shown) Is there a possibility to see this in my mailbox? I tried to paste the code into my outlook, but that doesn't work with the regular outlook, I only can view the source, not edit it. Thank you very much in advance! Kind regards Sandra Hi, Im had my site redesigned by a designer a while ago, it was working fine till a couple of weeks ago. When the site loads the logo and and links load for a couple of seconds and disappear. My site address is www.broadway-engraving.co.uk. If anyone can help it would be much appiciated. When I click on a picture, it's supposed to redirect me to a webpage, but when I do this nothing happens. I've tried this with several different flash templates from other websites but the same problem happens. When creating a file from a template in Dreamweaver CS3, is there anyway to remove all the comment tags around editable regions? Hi: We are having a problem with an eBay Custom Storefront template. HTML is not one of my strengths, so if we could get a little help it would be greatly appreciated. At the top of our template it shows our feedback number as well as several icons such as "top rated seller", about me, store icon, etc. This feedback number should change when we get a new feedback, it does not. Everywhere else in eBay the number changes fine and the code looks the same to me. I think the section of code below is the relevant section. The store address is www.connectibles.net if you need to see more code. Or just post a note and I will copy more code. I've been messing about with the HTML for ages. You'll have to excuse me because I'm a noob at HTML. I appreciate any help! Thanks. I'm about to rip my hair out on this one. I'm using Dreamweaver 8. I have navigation that is using image rollovers to swap. My images that are needed for the rollover to work are in my "assets" folder in the "root" directory. However, when I create the actual html page off the template it is looking for the image in "templates/assets" and therefore does not find the image to swap. I have a number of different navigation buttons and I inserted them all the exact same way. This is the only one that is having this issue, the rest work properly. This is the code that resides on the templates page. Code:

Notice the Set','','..assets/menu/log_over.jpg. This is the code that is produced when you create an html page from the template. Code: <a href="logset.html" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Log & Grate Set',Templates/'','..assets/menu/log_over.jpg'',1 For some reason it is adding the directory templates, and therefore does not find the image. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks, braves07 Hi guys, I created a email template for company usage using html, i put company`s logo in it, it works perfect with outlook and windows live mail, but when i open that email template in browsers, i see .jpg file at the end of the mail message. Is there any way to get rid of this? Thanks. here is a screenshot of my problem: http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5672/16715830.jpg I'm not sure if this is in the correct section, but what is the use of a template in PSD form with all the layers in it? does anyone know of any nice HTML/CSS templates that I could use for my ecommerce website? or would anyone like to help me design a nice layout? I would be most appreciative I have tried searching but unable to find anything nice. So I really am at the end of the barrel. Thank-you for your help. Hi. I need to find a way of displaying some thumbnail photos in a table cell across a bunch of different tempates. I put a new thumbnail in the group about once a week, but I dont want to edit every template I have. Is is possible to have code in the table cell that say's get thumbnails.htm and put them in this cell That way I can just edit thumbnails.htm and it will show up on all the templatess/pages I'm sure it can be done, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Thanks Leroy |
