HTML - Newbie Needing Help! Aligning Objects On A Page But Keeping Them Level
Hiyas, well I am trying to make an html website, and I got two things I trie to add to my page. One is a shoutbox using direct link code, and in the preview it displays fine, and works fine. Another is a teamspeak launcher I made, just a link and an image. I align one to the right the other to the left, and that works. The problem is, that the one on the right is level with the bottom of the shoutbox on the left, whereas I want them to be a part of two side columns eventually, where they are both the same length etc, not all uneven. Here is my preview page:
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...Untitled-1.gif I hope you see what I mean. Please help me, as I need this website online ASAP cos me and my clan are going to some tournaments and seriously need this online. Thanks in advance, Ferinos Similar TutorialsGreetings, I have a script that needs to load a ~250Mb file from an FTP server in order to function. During this 20+ minute process, the connection between the server and client is lost; is there a header I can use to make sure the connection does not timeout? Thank you and Godspeed! Hello, I am having a bit of a problem with a website I just started. I am currently on a resolution of 1280x1024 and I want it work for 1024x768. Well, I want it to work for any resolution, really. In fact, I noticed the problem exists when I go from maximizing the browser window to minimizing it. Here is what it looks like at 1280x1024 with the browser window maximized. Here is what it looks like at 1024x768 or when the browser window is less than maximized. See the problem? The two background images to either side of the banner image are lessening, as the resolution decreases or the browser window is decreases. Yet, the banner image remains unaffected. How can I make sure that the html is proportional to resolution, such that the background image on either side of the banner image remain unaffected in the manner in which they are currently? Thank you. Here is the HTML: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Test</title> </head> <body> <table border="2"> <!-- table 1 --> <tbody> <tr> <td width="10%" style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(pictures\BG.jpg)"><!-- col 1 --> </td> <td width="80%"><!-- col 2 --> <table border="4"> <!-- Table 2 --> <tbody> <tr> <td><img src="pictures/banner.jpg"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>More stuff goes here</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </td> <td width="10%" style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(pictures\BG.jpg)"><!-- col 3 --> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <!-- table 1 --> </body> </html> Hi, I am trying to figure out how to make my links stay on the left side page while scrolling down or up. Not sure if this is the right place to post. Any help, codes, and/or examples would be great. Thanks Okay, I dont want to align text or an image. I want to align my whole page. My page is all the way to left and I want to center it to the middle. Hi Everyone Im new to this, and trying to build a website to show my artwork for college. Its a requirement for my degree course in London and I have been trying for ages to centre align a fade in/fade out image with code I found. I don't know if this the correct way of showing my code which you all probably understand way better than me, but I'll paste it below. Also the link where the page is online at the moment is here, It kind of aligns centre in Safari but not on an iPad or in Firefox etc. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30918322/NEW...%20SITE/1.html Your help would be really greatly appreciated! Some pages of this site are not aligning in Firefox. Please see this link http://www.ntcmc.com/news.html . If you view in FF and in IE you will see the difference. The white space below the navigation and above the text in lower left of page should not be there. Any idea why it is displaying incorrectly? THANKS! I created a layout in Photoshop CS3 and used the slice tool, which generated a table for me based on the slices. The problem is, I need the table to be aligned at the very top of the page without a space, without having to set the table height to 100%. Is there a way this can be done? i have used the iframe to locate the third party web site into my site, but i couldnt align the 3rd party's site as my wish. i.e:-If want to hide advertisements those are in the top margin on 3rd party, wat do i wanna do.i'm new to this. plz help me. thanks Hi guys I've spent the best part of two hours attempting this and have been failing. Miserably. What I'm trying to do is NOT to create a body background, but create an image, which will sit at the bottom of my browser window, regardless of it's size, and then go BEHIND other elements such as tables / images if my browser window size causes overlap. All help appreciated, thanks in advance. Antonz hi all, this is my first post.. i just started learning html cause some friends asked if i could help build a website for our dancing group. Anyway, i read a bunch of stuff and decided i would use css and try to make a fluent design (you know, the concept where the page adapts to screen resolution and window size). So i used a lot of <div> with relative positioning and dimensioning (width, height and top, right etc all given as %) I also read about SSI and wanted to use one html file for all the decoration (logo, border, pics etc) and navigation and a different file for the content.. My testing server doesn't support ssi so i thought i could use <iframe> in the content file in order to call the dacoration/navigation page. All worked ok with html 4.01 transitional. Problem is (cause i use linux) i hadn't realized ie doesn't recognize position:fixed unless i use html 4.01 strict (originally i used transitional) So when i changed to strict, all browsers except google chrome screwed the appearance of the iframe with the decoration.. They seem not to recognize the height style when given as a %.. No matter what number i put, height doesn't change. If i use height a static height (given in px), all works ok, but that wouldn't adapt to window space and it won't look good (this is because decoration is based on a border, so it MUST fill the window) you can test it here users.forthnet.gr/ath/almechen/1 i have set home to use html 4.01 TRANSITIONAL so you can see what i want it to look like (works with chrome and firefox, not ie) Lessons is set to 4.01 STRICT with iframe having height:98% (this is where the problem is) (works in chrome, not ff and ie) Events is set to 4.01 STRICT with iframe having height:500px (this works but not how isn't what i really want) (works for all but not what i want) any ideas, any help? i would really appreciate Thanks mates, 'twas a stupid mistake -Chris hi guys, I have this code he Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1251" /> <title>Under construction</title> </head> <body style="background-color:#121212"> <div style="background: url(under_construction.jpg) no-repeat center top ; height: 1024px; margin: auto;"> </div> </body> </html> the image under_construction.jpg is basically the page itself, it has a size of 1680x1024. As of right now the page doesn't adjust automatically to the users screen. Please help me change the code so that it'll adjust automatically to the user screen guys, Im hoping someone can help me out. i am a flash designer and my flash movie opens in a 1024 x 680 fixed window but my index page is html ( a page with a picture and an "enter here" button and im trying to get this jpg to fill the full horizontal width of the screen in all resolutions. it looks fine @ 1024 x 768 but of you go higher, obviously you cant make the image wider or it will distort so i think the layout will have to be sectional ( tables perhaps or divs breaking the image into sections or something). i think the jpg has to be chopped up. if you see the picture, you will get the idea. i want it to fill the width of the screen regardless of screen resolution. im not sure what to do, i need so serious design help. I know that some of you can prob do this in 5 minutes but im trying to learn. the problem is that my site is complete but i cant launch until my index page is done. i dont know what to do. im new to html but am a flash programmer. i just want a index page to launch my site but have it look ok regardless of screen resolution / size. can someone take a look at this jpg and perhaps show me what to do so that my picture will always be to the far left and the enter button / box it is in will stay to the right. I can really use some help. i am attaching my image and also an example url that shows a site where the intro page does this. the image always stays to the left and everything keeps proper postion. i really can use some helpsample_&_image.zip Im working on helping a good friend of mine update/clean up her site. I know basic HTML but not enough to do some basic changes. Not looking for a free ride...what so ever. Just some assistance. www.AZAUTOTRENDS.com is the site im looking to clean up. Ive done quite a bit already but just stuck on some things. Where is one to go to find some one for some help and direction? site for my husbands business. So, I sat up for 7 hours last night and built my first page with Dreamweaver. I was really happy with it but somehow today I lost it I have all the page content so I can easily replace it and I have a jpeg of the site when I first finished building it so can copy it with no problem, my only real problem is getting the lines back how I had them before, I haven't a clue how I did it the first time and have wasted my whole day trying to get three simple (ha!) lines in place but with no success. I feel so frustrated it's driving me mad... Could someone please tell me how to do it ? This is the site I built... http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ebpagecopy.jpg These are the lines I just can't do no matter how I try... http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2..._2604/line.jpg Any help really really appreciated!! Debby. I'm wanting to re-do the pages in my site, i designed it a good year ago now using frontpage and the site is just all over the shop on different browsers. I don't know how to develop a template myself using notepad, so i've been searching AGES just trying to find a simple web template i can download and make some changes. I feel i'm able to make basic changes using html, i'm no expert but i can make general changes.. I'm just after a simple template and was wondering if anyone could help me out. My friend has a site up and i'm interested in using a similar layout www.irrationalfitness.com (just head to one of the internal pages). The site has a tool bar on the left and information on the right, a header for my logo, and it's simple and easy to look at. The only things i would change really would be the colours, my business i orange and grey. I went to see if the page source would give me a bit of a sample to run off, but it doesn't have any information in it to really change. Does anyone have any ideas of where i can find a template similar to this i can download? Or ideas of how to put something like this together please? Thanks hi ppl I'm formatting a table and i need some pro help. http://doyouwantfreecash.blogspot.com opening it in firefox2 everything looks aligned, but opening it in ie6 it gets messed up.. I started this and realized I was working off of the codings I taught myself in 2001ish. So, I am having some problems. The website I have is here : http://romantheatre.freezoka.com . I wanted to put two iframes on the site, one wider one on the left hand side of the gray area to display the information and then one on the right hand side to put the links. The problem I am encountering is that I do not want the frames to be anchored in the top right corner, which seems to be where they are staying. I remember using a code that went something like top="number" left="number" and that shifted the frame down and to the right, but it won't work and every time I search for it nothing about that comes up. I've recently seen people suggesting I try an alternative, so I was wondering if anyone here has a suggestion as to how I shift the iframes or an alternative I could look up a tutorial of online. Thanks in advance! |
