HTML - How Do I Replace Duplicate Html That Has 90% Page Setup And 10% Displayed Information

Quite some time ago I was faced with putting a website together for the first time for a local community group (my wife nominated me!). Rather than tell you all what it contains and how it looks, it is probably easier for me to give you the link which is the Friends of Clifton Park based in South Yorkshire, UK. This website consists of eight html pages. The first is the index, second is the welcome page and the rest are linked pages via links on the left. On every of the "linked" pages, only the main body changes, with the exception of each link showing in Caps and link disabled. The problem I'm having is that every single one of the linked html pages are the same, except the displayed text. 90% is the page set-up. So my question is: Is it possible to "import" the required text information when a link is clicked on straight into the main body of ONE html page? btw, you'll notice that the page height isn't fixed, it expands depending on amount of information in it. I have tried IFRAME but don't really seem to be getting anywhere as I can't seem to make the height auto-adjust. A specified height value has to be entered for each "page". This is no good as more information will be needed to be put on. So basically what I am trying to do is: Keep the index.html Change the welcome.html to display the main page (graphics/images, etc) Import text into main body into the welcome.html page when a link is clicked on. Thus reducing the need of duplicate html pages and just having text files containing the main body text. The main reason for wanting to do this is a) stop all the duplication of page set-up in each html file, and b) make it easier for the guy that wants to add information where needed, straight into notepad (txt file) and upload it to the website. If the orginal page margins defined by the user are more than what I am setting through my CSS, it doesnt seem to work. i.e. If the user has all his margins setup to .75in, my CSS doesnt seem to alter the same. Recently when i clicked the link, the file "open / Save" dialogue appears, but now i receieve a page can not be displayed. Right click save as works i.E 7, What could be causing this Regards, Alan Hi all, I have a .CGI web page written in PERL language. The CGI script loads the information from a database. So when i start the CGI page in my browser and it will only have a value in the whole page. As in when the whole page started in the browser will have only a few characters. Let say it retrieve Temperature recorded and which is stored in the database. So the whole page when loaded will only show 1 temperature. Which is "36.6" and will change when ever the database receive a newer data. In additional, i have a html page. There are tables in the page whereby show information. Like tables having temperature, id, sound and light columns. My Question is that Am i able to load the numbers/characters show on the CGI page directly into the table or any where in the HTML page? What i can think of is putting up a link to the CGI page on the HTML file and click it when i want to view it.But it would just be too troublesome. My first idea was to set up two iframes so that the user could scroll sideways on the top through the pictures and each picture would link to itself in a bigger size targeted to another iframe... like this. I put a few of the pictures in here just to show you what I was thinking... the page really isn't working well, I just threw it together to show you the structure I'm talking about. This would work, but I'd also like the description to change, so I was thinking of using Javascript (I don't actually know javascript yet, so I'm guessing at this) so each picture would change TWO iframes, one as the picture and the other would be the description. The problem with that would be that I would have to make a new html page for each description... I guess I could do that, but would there be anything easier? All the solutions I have thought of like using a getElementByID javascript to change the picture and text wouldn't work because of the iframe. If there is another solution, I don't even need an iframe. I was just checking to see if anyone had any suggestions on this, either a simpler solution to the iframe idea or a completely different idea. It really doesn't matter, I just want a good looking, easy to use pictures page. Hi, I need some clarification regarding HTML editors and how to display the data that is stored through HTML editors. Hi My problems: Q1: I am getting data from mySQL to populate fields to generate a report in html. The report are in two pages. Sometimes page two comes into page one. is there a way we can force page two to be only in page two. I was not able to recreate this on my computer, but apparently, [another] web developer said this is a fairly common problem. What I'm basically trying to do is display different SQL databases when you click different buttons. So the code in the website in the iframe will just display the database. At the top of the site is a 1x40 pixel (WxH) GIF - a horizontal gradient - that is told to have a width of 100% so that it takes up the entire width of the browser window, regardless of resolution. I want to put a 250-pixel-wide JPEG immediately to the left of this GIF and then make the GIF take up the rest of the space available. I tried setting the GIF width to 100% again but it puts the JPEG on the top line and then stretches the GIF across the entire window just beneath it. I'd be happy to use PHP (although I'm a beginner at it) to maybe detect the user's browser window width (if it's possible?) then perform a calculation to find what 100% width minus 250 pixels is... Hi everyone, my first post here! I'm trying to develop a website to display weather. Its really quite simple; One computer runs some weather software which gets its data from a weather station, the weather software creates .jpg images of the data it receives and ftp's them every 60 seconds to a webserver that just has a simple html page displaying all of the 6 images on one page again refreshing every 60 seconds. This has been running for some time but I have recently been asked to include data from another computer that monitors tidal height. This computer also ftp's its data every 60 seconds to the same webserver but in a csv .txt file. I can display this txt file directly on the site in a iframe but its really badly formatted. What's the best way of formatting the data client side? I thought maybe with javascript, but its something I have never used before. thanks in advance, Nick I think I have the same problem, I am setting up a site offering bands a personal page on a local music scene website. the band's page is displayed in a frame when I have created a page for the band i want to offer them a url to directly link to their page but still show the entire frameset (index.html) what would this url be or how woul i go about creating it? would really appreciate the help, cheers! I want to be able to clean a page(get rid of some tags), that is loading in my webBrowser control, before is rendered inside it. i DON'T want to load it into a string, because if I do that, I must remake the page. I need something that can peek at some page,but not consume it, search for some specific tag, replace/delete it, then allow the "new" page to be finally loaded in my browser. Hopefully something will turn up soon - but here is my question in the meantime: I have a webpage that has a flash sequence that you must click on to take you to the rest of the site. But for browsers that don't have flash (like phones), I want that flash sequence to be replaced by some html code - like an image that you can click to take you to the site.
