HTML - Clickable Block Elements
Trying to modify a template..
http://www.varaxon.com/ On the right, below the login box are 3 seperate boxes - I've been trying to make these completely clickable - I just can't seem to figure it out. I tried doing unordered lists, etc. Color me stupid - I'm just a lowly PHP Developer with minimal design/html coding experience. -G Similar TutorialsHi, I was wondering if someone could explain block and inline elements. I know they deal with word wrap but, I have read and I am still confused on how you know what is a block element and what is an inline element. Can someone provide some aid? Thanks. I am new to web development and am using a combination of Dreamweaver CS3 and code. I feel pretty comfortable with the code now but am having some problems getting a grasp on how to position things the way I want. I decided to design my site to display well on an 800x600 monitor, so I made the container div 780px wide, and I have created divs inside of that. For the most part I set the box width to 100% for the divs and don't mess with positioning. I have one div that I want to put bulleted lists in, but I want the bullet items to be layed out so that there are 4 items high x 3 wide. In other words, I want to divide the width of the page (780) into 3 sections and each one would have 4 bullets - item 1 - item 5 - item 9 - item 2 - item 6 - item 10 - item 3 - item 7 - item 11 - item 4 - item 8 - item 12 Pretend that these are evenly spaced and centered on the page. I used 3 divs, making each 260px wide on the page, and then put an unordered list inside of each div. I found that I could not make the divs sit side by side unless I also set float left for the CSS style. However, when I did that, the upper border of the div below these which was a 760px wide div with a table in it jumped up above them. I fixed it by setting that div to float left also. OK so I got it to look right, but I don't understand what I'm doing here. Is there a better way to do this, or can someone clear up why this worked? Thanks, Jeff How do I make element's change their height automatically depending on whether they have anything contained within them? My page background is a div's bg image but the div hasn't expanded to the size of the contained elements. The div's name is nicola-bg Here is the site I have the same problem too with #image-section. That div is styled to have large borders but the borders don't extend to the height of the div's containing elements. Strange I'm going nuts trying to figure out what is causing this. On this page I have 4 links at the top (courses, reiki, etc) http://gocreatesocialmedia.com/fb/He...age/index.html two of them actually Link....and 2 don't. I have the links formatted exactly the same for all. Any suggestions on how to correct this ? Does anyone have any easy javascript code for making clickable banners? Hi all, first of all i`m new here and my HTML experience is limited although I do work in the IT industry. Iv been asked to look at a piece of software called Proxy Pick which enables users to choose proxy information on thier laptops according to where they are i.e. at home or at work. Proxy Pick allows you to design your own custom inferface using HTML which im in the process of doing I`d like the options to be displayed as clickable images, and when clicked it enters the correct proxy details for you. at present I have the images which just link to a random website. I also have radio buttons which do enter the proxy information correctly when used, but obviously I want to have these radio button options as pictures. Can anyone help? Thanks HI 1) Is there a way to make a div with a logo and text clickable? 3) I read it was bad for seo? 2) Is there a way to make the background image change on hover? This is css or javascript ? Thanks for reading Hi everyone, I'm trying to make tables clickable, simple right? Well I've tried all the solutions I could find on the net and none of them seem to work. If you look at my site (Bottleweb.org), I want to make the two tables (green and blue ones) on the main window clickable. I'd also like to change the background color and font color on mouseover. I'm already using java based rollovers to do the buttons. If you know how to do this please include all the java scripts I'll need too. Thanks Hi, I'm pretty sure there is a simple way of doing this but I have tried and cannot get great results. I want to be able to have the lower right logo on this page be clickable to a webpage. Thanks! Hey, i want to make an iframe Object invisible but still clickable. Is that possible, and if yes, how? Im using Dreamweaver CS5 greetings Phil Hello everyone I'm usually good at figuring stuff out, but this time I hit a doozy and can't seem to figure it out, hopefully someone here can help me. I have a gallery blog which is using this theme: http://www.elegantthemes.com/preview/eGallery/ my question is how can I make it so that users can click the thumbnail and go to the post rather than clicking the arrow on the bottom right. I've narrowed it down to <div class="thumbnail-div" style="background-image: url(<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/scripts/timthumb.php?src=<?php echo $thumb; ?>&h=159&w=190&zc=0);"> but I don't now how to make them link to the post, any help would be great thank you. http://www.grannysoycandles.com The menu links on the left side are working in IE but not in FF. Its only when they are in the "buttons" div. I put one in the "body" div and it worked fine. Any ideas why? Internet Explorer works fine Firefox does not weird...usually its the other way around... I tried googling up the results, hard to find. I have only meagre HTML skills and am trying to develop a fantasy-book fans website, will appreciate the replies. Hi everyone, hope everyones well. I am desigining and coding an advanced myspace (the link to the space is: www.myspace.com/3face) and have ran into a problem, basically, The navbar on the page is set up using strategically placed divs for each button (i was trying to use tables but to hide the rest of the myspace content which I didnt want, the code used hide my table as well, so i couldn't use tables for it) So i am using DIV's for it now the problem I have is that some of the divs and parts of some of the divs arent clickable. I would change the z-index of them and it would fix it for that particular div but then would mess up on others, right now the divs which aren't/partially clickable a * Film * Favourites * Myspace TV the code for the navbar links is as follows: <div class="Home-navbar"> <div style="position: absolute; I would really appreciate it! Thanks Hey folks, I'm having an issue with an image map, on some pages the areas I've mapped are not able to be clicked. It has something to do with the code above the image map, but I'm not sure exactly what is causing the issue. The image map on the top works fine, the one on the bottom is the one that is not working at all. Thank you! Hi everyone, I'm new here and a total newbie - so please bear with me! I want to create a table with 3 rows x 5 columns: Row 1: basic text Row 2: clickable image Row 3: clckable text The image in row two would be in the forum gallery, but the destination when the user clicks the image should be to the bands website. No matter what I do, i can't get a clickable image to sit into the table! If anyone could help with this simple piece of code I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Dave Hello, I'm fairly inexperienced with web development, and have a problem with my current website. I have a PHP page with buttons that brings up the content of the page, but there are many buttons, in 3 major categories. I would like to turn the categories into buttons, and have only the selected category drop down. When a different category is selected, I would like the first category buttons to disappear (or scroll back up) and the new category buttons to drop down. The page in question is this one: Click Here Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know it may be a bit confusing what I'm trying to accomplish, but I think viewing the page will give you an idea of what I'm looking to do. Thank you! Bacc It works in my editor, but when I paste it into my blogger account, it says its not complete because of the IMG tag. <A HREF="http://www.trueprotein.com/"><IMG SRC="http://i10.tinypic.com/4tqy6ux.jpg"</A> Thanks Strange ey, IE working like it's supposed to.. while FF just site there.... please note - the header and the navigation do work in all browsers, its the title's and images that dont work correctly in FF. Anyways, have a look at the site here, and try to figure it out. Kinda strange, it used to work, ever since i moved the mySQL database it broke in FF thanks Hi I have a blog with blogspot (google) and I want to post, say, 50 links. I don't have time to add the HTML link code to each one (<a/ or something) Is there anyway that I can quickly format my links so they are clickable? I just want the URLs to link. For example I want to post (just an example): www.youtube.com www.google.com www.microsoft.com www.htmlforums.com and so on... anyway to automatically make the clickable links? must be i just dont know how :p they are clickable in this forum because it automatically makes "[url]" tags. I want to do the same only on my blog. thanks! |
