HTML - <td> Bigger Than The Form Inside It!
See the below HTML:
<table width="100%" > <tr><td align="left" style="background:blue"> <form name="rrrevsortform" method="post" valign="center"> <select name="RRSort" onchange="Redirect(this.value);"> <option value="http://something" selected="true">one choice</option><option value="http://sdfsd">sfd first</option> </select> <input type="submit" id="sortSubmit" value="Go"> </form> </td> </tr> </table> If you save this as .html and view you will find that TD height(blue color) is double the height of form? why so? how can I contract TD to take the height of form. Surprisingly even the height attribute does not work! Similar TutorialsI am trying to build a simple contact form using tables, textfields, lables and textareas. The textfields are ok in both IE and FF but the textarea is bigger in IE than in FF and also the textareas in both are stil out of position to the textfields. This is pretty basic i guess, maybe not. I realise there are differences in formatting in IE and firefox but. So if i.... 1) Insert a form tag 2) Insert a table 3 rows x 2 cols in the form tag (name, email and message) 4) Add a lable in the DW designer to attach to each text field/area then the result looks like this in FF, and this in IE, also i just noticed that the font is a slightly different size and font in both as well, here is my code, this is all the code i am using, HTML Code: <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <table width="39%" border="0"> <tr> <td width="20%"><label for="email">Email:</label></td> <td width="80%"><input name="email" type="text" id="email" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="name">Name:</label></td> <td><input name="name" type="text" id="name" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="message">Message:</label></td> <td><textarea name="message" id="message"></textarea></td> </tr> </table> </form> any ideas??? Also i realise you can change the size of the textarea but i don't really see the relationship here with respect to the size of the textfield. This is a silly question but i need rows to appear in this code Code: <input id="link_l" size=73> Hi Here is my site; http://www.freewebs.com/jonnibravo/ The icons at the top of the screen are very small, all I want is to make the images bigger when you hover the mouse over them and to have text show below showing what team the icon belongs too. This makes me wonder if what I want to do is possible. I have a webpage that uses divs to section the page into four sections (top, bottom, content, and navigation). On the navigation side is where users select a set of form options and based on those options details should display in the content section. Frames is not an option as we're trying to get away from frames and I need to make subsequent pages for other things without the frames. Thanks in advance for you helpm ~ML Hi Guys, I dont know if i am over thinking this, or just been dumb! But I want to position a flash object file in a div to the the center of my screen. However heres the catch, my flash file is 1900 pixels wide, and of course a screen can be anything wide. I can get CSS background images for divs ok, but not objects like a flash movies. So assuming my screen is 1600 wide, the user would see the center of my 1900 wide flash file with 150 pixels missing on the left aand right. For some reason, maybe i am tired, but i can not get it working or get my head into gear today. thanks for any input! Oh and heres an image of my problem to help explain it http://i44.tinypic.com/33p9e0l.jpg Hi I noticed that ie6 renders paragraph breakline spaces bigger than ie7 or FF. I got around it by using <br /><br /> instead of <p></p>, but is there a proper workaround to make ie6 conform? Also also tried stipulating the CSS for the p tags, but to no avail: .maintext { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 9pt; color:#fff; text-align:justify; line-height:100%; } .maintext p { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 9pt; color:#fff; text-align:justify; line-height:100%; } Cheers Shaun Hi, I am having a problem with the formating of a search box inside a table. All I want is for the text field and submit button to sit exactly in the middle (vertically aligned) inside the table with an equal space above and below (table background is dark colour so very noticeable) In Dreamweaver, it looks fine until published - then there is a large gap below the text field and submit button but small space above. I basically am trying to get the space below the same as the one above. Take a look at the code to see what I mean. <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style2 { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 12px; } --> </style> <table width="540" border="0"> <tr> <td width="534" height="26" bgcolor="#666666"><form action="http://www.soundscalpel.com/search.php" method="get" name="form1" target="_blank" id="form1"> <label for="textfield"></label> <div align="right"> <span class="style2">Search for Sound Effects </span> <input type="text" name="q" id="q" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </div> </form> </td> </tr> </table> Hope someone can help Thanks So I've been trying to set up a search box to blank out its default text when clicked, and reappear when it goes away (if empty). The script works fine--I know that much. However, when using it inside a table inside a form, it seems to fail every single time. Even "this.value=' ' " falls flat on its face. I'm relatively new to HTML, so please bear with me. Below is the script, a text box it does work in, and then the box I'm trying to make it work in. Quote: <script type="text/javascript"> function clickIn(field){ if (field.value==field.defaultValue){ field.value=''; } } function clickOut(field){ if (field.value==''){ field.value=field.defaultValue; } } </script> <form> <input type="text" name="text" id="test" value="test" onfocus="clickIn(this)" onblur="clickOut(this)"/> </form> <form> <tr> <td style="border-style:solid;border-color:#4B7B9F;border-width:1px;"> <!--Search Box Dimensions--> <input type="text" title="Search Terms" name="lookfor" id="search" value="Search the Catalog" onfocus: "clickIn(this)" onblur="clickOut(this)" style="width:300px; border:0px solid; height:50px; padding:0px 3px; position:relative;"/> </td> <td style="border-style:solid;border-color:#4B7B9F;border-width:1px;"> <!--The search button--> <input type="image" value="Go" src="Search Button.jpg" style="border-style: none; width: 50px; height: 50px;"/> </td> </tr> </table> </form> why the table i have dont expand over browser borders when sum of td widths is bigger than screen width? How can i overcome this problem? Hi, I have a tricky problem that you kind people might be able to solve. I want to put one set of forms inside another set of forms without them interfering with each other. At the moment, the form I've created inside the other form is not responding. The code, when simplified, looks something like this: <FORM (1)> <FORM (2)> </FORM> </FORM> Am I trying to do the impossible or is there a way to overcome this problem? Thanks! / Stefan I have a big list and I want to show on my webpage 6lines from that list randomly (when webpage is refreshed another 6 lines appear). can anyone help me with he code, how should the list look like so it works...or where can I find more info on this ? thanks how do i get the buttons to go inside the div of the main console plz html: HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta name="keywords" content=""> <meta name="description" content=""> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css" media="all" /> <title>Squared Away Designs,Professional Web Design,Lincoln,Lincolnshire</title> <html> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="titletext"> <img src="images/titletext.png" alt="" /> </div> <h1>Alan Martin<br>Tel: 07939 156 706</h1> <div id="logo"> <img src="images/logo.png" alt="" /> </div> <hr/> <div id="maincolumn"> <img src="images/maincolumn.png" alt="" /> <div id="home"> <img src="images/home.png" alt="" /> </div> <div id="webdesign"> <img src="images/webdesign.png" alt="" /> </div> <div id="graphicdesign"> <img src="images/graphicdesign.png" alt="" /> </div> <div id="aboutus"> <img src="images/aboutus.png" alt="" /> </div> <div id="contactus"> <img src="images/contactus.png" alt="" /> </div> </div> <script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> _uacct = "UA-4586064-1"; urchinTracker(); </script> </div> </body> </html> css: Code: body { margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; background-color: #000000; } #wrapper { background-color: #000000; width: 980px; height: 770px; } #titletext { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 40px; padding-top: 0px; } h1 { float: left; margin-top: 50px; margin-left: 150px; padding-top 0px; font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; color: #ff6000; } #logo { float: right; margin-top: 10px; margin-right: 10px; padding-top: 0px; } hr { float: right; margin-top: 10px; margin-left: 0px; height: 4px; width: 800px; color: #ff6000; } #maincolumn { float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 14px; padding-top: 0px; } #home { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 18px; padding-top: 0px; } #webdesign { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 5px; padding-top: 0px; } #graphicdesign { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 5px; padding-top: 0px; } #aboutus { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 5px; padding-top: 0px; } #contactus { float: left; margin-top: 20px; margin-left: 5px; padding-top: 0px; } thnx Hello this is my first post here, Could someone answer this question. I have posted it in two dedicated HTML forums and from each forum recieved two opposing answers - Can I put a <h1,2,3 etc> tag inside a <ul></ul> eg - ul> <li><h1>1</h1></li> <li><h1>2</h1></li> </ul> The first set of replies said "no" I cant, I can only put the <h1> before the list - because you dont have a headline within a list. The second answer said "yes" I can html-wise, but I tend to agree more with the first answer as it is not scematicaly correct. Can someone clear it up for me? I am trying to get this link: <script type="text/javascript" src="walton-menu.js"></script> to run inside a table statement <TD></TD> as I need to lock it in a defined position as my site is centered in the browser, but as soon as I put it inside a table the menu's disappear. Any suggestions? Paul I'm trying to put a table inside where the text is. This is going to be my navigation spot, I tryed one way and it went over the whole page Can someone explain my error. thanks. All the pages on my site have a right column with a table inside it. I want the table to be at the top, which works fine in FF and IE7 and IE8, but is always at the bottom in IE6. Can someone offer some insight into this? heres one example, but its the same on all pages. http://perfectresource.net/hcm.html Hi. My latest project is a website that I plan to update via a vBulletin "back end" I wanted to do this via RSS feeds from the forums. What I am trying to do is have it so I can put ONLY the data from a single forum post inside a HTML page, that will then update as I update the forum post. I have started reading up a little and found that vBulletin offers the following methods: -XML -RSS -RSS1 -RSS2 All of them methods appear to pull data that I do not need/want (posted by, date, time, link to the post). I literally JUST want the data from inside the post to be inserted in to the HTML page. Besides that, I am unsure of how to add the actual data to the web page. Looking for a simple (if possible) guide on how to do this. I will be formatting the data via. .CSS Could anyone point me in the right direction? thx. |
